What It Costs to Be Seen

Tune into the newest episode of our Energy Works Podcast, where science meets spirit to help you heal, energize, and thrive.Have you ever shared something personal and later wondered, “Should I have said that?”Maybe you replayed the conversation afterward. Worried about how someone interpreted what you said. Or wished you could take it back.Lauren and Blaine have both experienced that uncomfortable feeling of being seen and then second-guessing themselves. In this episode, they talk about what can happen after we put ourselves out there, including Lauren’s decision to delete podcast episodes she had already recorded and Blaine’s vulnerability hangover after sharing a very personal story. Why are we sometimes comfortable being ourselves until we imagine someone judging us?The conversation explores self-consciousness, fear of criticism, authenticity, and why some of us are especially sensitive to judgment, including what the Five Elements can reveal about our inner critic and our ability to let things go.Now available wherever you get your podcasts!Chapters:00:00 Introduction00:51 Audio Only 02:41 Zoom Self Awareness04:02 Brain Load on Zoom05:12 Vanity and Eye Contact07:05 Deleting Cringe Takes09:51 Recorded Forever Fear13:25 Vulnerability Hangover15:42 Power And Consent16:36 Vulnerability Hangover18:03 Freeform Vs Bullet Notes18:23 Snarky Podcast Regret20:10 Authenticity And Judgment21:10 Wood and Metal Elements22:33 Personas And Self Reflection24:03 Spiritual Path And Mistakes26:22 Service And Listener Value28:57 Imperfect Leaders And Growth31:21 ConclusionEpisode Resources:EMYoga Online Courses: emyoga.thinkific.com/collections/emyoga-coursesShop our EMYoga Store: emyogastore.com/Sign up for our FREE weekly Newsletter: www.energymedicineyoga.net/Listen on Spotify: Energy WorksListen on Apple Podcasts: Energy WorksFollow us on Instagram: @EnergyMedicineYogaFollow us on Facebook: @EnergyMedicineYoga#EnergyMedicineYoga #EnergyWorksPodcast #WellnessPodcast #EmotionalHealing #EmotionalHealth #EMYoga

The Longevity Advice No One Can Sell You

Tune into the newest episode of our Energy Works Podcast, where science meets spirit to help you heal, energize, and thrive. What if your emotional health is just as important to longevity as your sleep, nutrition, and exercise? In this solo episode, Lauren explores the connection between our emotions, our bodies, and long-term health through the lenses of Energy Medicine Yoga, Ayurveda, and Chinese medicine. She looks at how unresolved or “undigested” emotional experiences may show up in the body, alongside what Western research is revealing about the relationship between emotional wellbeing, stress, and physical health.Lauren also takes a critical look at the biohacking and longevity movement, especially the overwhelming number of supplements, tests, protocols, and expensive interventions promising to help us live longer. Using longevity advocate Bryan Johnson and his experience with autoimmune gastritis as a starting point, Lauren explores the concept of autoimmunity through the lens of Chinese medicine. She brings the conversation back to foundational health practices that are often overlooked because they aren't particularly monetizable: quality sleep, nourishing food, healthy digestion and elimination, relationships, community, creativity, purpose, and emotional wellbeing. This episode is a grounded invitation to step back from the latest health trend and reconnect with the foundations that truly support wellbeing. Abuse of Power in Yoga Communities

Tune into the newest episode of our Energy Works Podcast, where science meets spirit to help you heal, energize, and thrive. In this solo episode, Blaine addresses one of the most difficult conversations facing the yoga and spiritual communities: the abuse of power by teachers. After learning that a male yoga teacher she studied with in India has been accused by multiple women of sexual misconduct spanning more than a decade, Blaine reflects on the impact these revelations have on students, communities, and the integrity of spiritual practice. She shares how she and Lauren carefully vet teachers, retreats, and events to avoid supporting individuals with known patterns of abuse or exploitation. The conversation expands beyond sexual misconduct to examine other ways power can be misused, including financial exploitation, emotional manipulation, and expectations of unpaid labor in exchange for proximity, status, or "access."Drawing on both her corporate leadership background and years in the wellness world, Blaine explores why meaningful consent cannot exist when there is a significant power imbalance. She discusses the ethical responsibility of teachers and the energetic effects of abuse in the aura/biofield, heart center, and the root and sacral chakras.Blaine also examines how communities become fractured when abuse is ignored, minimized, or enabled, and why reclaiming personal sovereignty is essential to healing.Ultimately, this conversation is about ethics, accountability, discernment, and remembering that the true role of a guru is to dispel darkness, not create dependence. The goal of any authentic spiritual path is to help each person become their own greatest teacher.
