    Former model Kelsey Turner appeared to be living a glamorous life, posing for magazines and building a social media following. Behind the scenes, however, prosecutors alleged she relied heavily on the financial support of 71-year-old California psychiatrist Dr. Thomas Burchard, who reportedly paid hundreds of thousands of dollars toward her lifestyle over several years. (Wikipedia) In March 2019, Dr. Burchard disappeared after traveling to Las Vegas. Days later, authorities discovered his body stuffed inside the trunk of Turner’s abandoned Mercedes-Benz on a desert road outside the city. Investigators concluded he had been beaten to death, and evidence from a Las Vegas home tied the killing to Turner, her boyfriend Jon “Logan” Kennison, and their roommate, Diana Peña. (AP News) According to prosecutors, the relationship between Turner and Dr. Burchard had deteriorated as he attempted to distance himself financially. Peña later cooperated with investigators, admitting she helped clean the crime scene after the killing and providing key testimony that strengthened the prosecution’s case. Kennison eventually pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder, receiving a prison sentence of 18 to 45 years. (AP News) Rather than proceed to trial, Turner entered an Alford plea to second-degree murder in late 2022, allowing her to maintain her innocence while acknowledging prosecutors had enough evidence to likely secure a conviction. In January 2023, she was sentenced to 10 to 25 years in a Nevada prison.     Pastor Brodes Perry: Broken Promises (60)

    Brodes C. Perry (age 36 at death) was a third-generation preacher and executive pastor at Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church in Memphis. On April 4, 2019, he and his wife Tabatha were shot in their Collierville apartment by Latoshia Daniels, with whom he had been involved in an extramarital relationship. Perry died the next day. Daniels was later convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 20 years in February 2026. The case revealed videos of Perry discussing “ethical non-monogamy” and left lasting trauma for his widow and congregation.
