Best Not to Try and Rebuild

This video features a Sunday School lesson led by Bill Ward at the South Gastonia Church of God. The teaching focuses on the biblical account of Israel's return from Babylonian captivity and the rebuilding of the temple as recorded in the book of Ezra. Key themes and takeaways: Restoration: The lesson emphasizes that God is in the business of restoration. Even when God's people faced captivity, his promises remained, and he moved on the heart of King Cyrus to allow them to return home (0:00 - 9:30). Worship before the work: A primary focus was that the people rebuilt the altar before the temple structure. This serves as a reminder to prioritize worship and obedience to God as the foundation for any project or ministry (13:30 - 17:30). Generational unity: The teaching highlights the different reactions of the older generation, who remembered the former temple and wept, and the younger generation, who celebrated the new beginning. Both generations were needed to complete the work (19:30 - 21:30). Overcoming opposition: The group faced significant opposition and delays during the construction process. Ward stresses that a delay is not a denial and that God can turn obstacles into opportunities for his purpose (22:00 - 29:00). Faithful action: The lesson concludes with four main takeaways: God restores, prioritize worship, don't mistake opposition for abandonment, and don't quit during delays (29:30 - 31:45). Bill Ward concludes with a humorous yet practical list of 10 things that are best not to try and rebuild (31:50 - 33:45).

Reposting Podcast in Honor of Thomas Lark who was tragically murdered on Labor Day 2026.

Reposting this episode in honor of my good friend Thomas Lark. He was tragically gunned down in his driveway by a terrible human being. Please pray for his widow Julie Lark and, if you are able, use the link to donate to raise funds for expenses. Tom was a gentle and highly intelligent man. He would never challenge anyone to fight nor threaten them in any way. He may use words that make someone feel like they weren't very intelligent, but he would never intentionally make anyone angry enough to cause anyone harm. Unfortunately, and sadly, that's the society we live in today. Snowflakes think it's ok to be violent for whatever reason they make up in their minds. But they are allowed to inflict their insanity on us and we're just supposed to take it. Hate to make this political, but as you'll see in the podcast, Tom did. This is a fight for the survival for this Country & I intend to continue it on behalf of this good man, Thomas Lark. https://www.givesendgo.com/support-for-julie-lark-after-her-husband?utm_source=sharelink&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=support-for-julie-lark-after-her-husband **Welcome to The Greater Purpose Podcast!** Join Willy "ACE" as we explore inspiring stories, thought-provoking discussions, and all things life, faith, and community. Learning with Lions: Faith Amidst the Roar

The lesson focuses on biblical accounts where lions represent adversity and how individuals found strength through their faith in God. **Key biblical examples discussed:** David: He drew upon his past experiences of God's protection against a lion and a bear to gain confidence when facing the giant *Goliath* (6:45 - 8:42). Baniah: He demonstrates that faith may involve going through a "pit" or a difficult situation, trusting God for victory within it rather than just avoidance (11:46 - 12:56). Psalm 22: This passage reflects on feeling surrounded by opposition, prophetically pointing toward the endurance of *Jesus Christ* and the ultimate triumph of God (13:40 - 15:57). Paul: Despite being forsaken by others, he found strength in the Lord’s presence, highlighting that God remains with us even when circumstances seem dire (17:25 - 19:30). Isaiah's Prophecy: The lesson concludes with a vision of future peace, where creation is restored and the "lion" of danger is transformed under the reign of the Messiah (22:04 - 24:55). The lesson emphasizes that while we may face "roaring" problems, our response should be rooted in the victory of *Jesus Christ*, the "Lion of the tribe of Judah" (25:57 - 26:50). Biblical lion imagery across Scripture (David, Benaiah, Psalm 22, Paul, Isaiah) as a framework for facing life's spiritual battles Distinguishing Satan's roar from actual power, using 1 Peter 5:8 as the anchor text Faith vs. Arrogance: crediting God's past deliverance as the source of present courage Isaiah's prophetic vision of ultimate peace under Christ's reign as the endpoint of the "lion" narrative **Websites & Communities:** [The Greater Purpose](www.the-greater-purpose.com) [The Cubs Room](www.thecubsroom.com) – Chicago Cubs fans unite!
