WHEN THE PILLARS CRACK! Healing Childhood Trauma, Forgiving the Past & Rebuilding Your Life

GRIEF2GRACE PODCASTSeason 2 | Episode 185 WHEN THE PILLARS CRACKHealing Childhood Trauma, Forgiving the Past & Rebuilding Your Life What happens when the person preaching healing is still carrying wounds of his own? In this powerful episode of Grief2Grace Podcast, Dr. Ruth Hephzibah sits down with Rev. Mark Winter, writer, speaker, retired pastor, and author of If I'm the Temple of God, Why Are My Pillars Cracked? For nearly 25 years, Mark ministered to others while quietly carrying wounds from childhood physical and verbal abuse. Those wounds followed him into adulthood through anger, fear, insecurity, perfectionism, depression, anxiety, and a deep need for approval. Then one unexpected phone call changed everything. Mark felt prompted to call his father. During that conversation, forgiveness and reconciliation took place, and father and son finally exchanged the words, "I love you." Hours later, his father unexpectedly died. But reconciliation wasn't the end of Mark's healing journey. In this honest conversation, we explore childhood trauma, complicated grief, forgiveness, boundaries, depression and anxiety, counseling, medication, faith, and what it means to rebuild the cracked places of our lives. Can you forgive without reconciling? Can you have strong faith and still need professional help? Can healing happen when the apology never comes? And what happens when the person everyone turns to for help finally has to say, "I need help too"? Mark's story reminds us that having cracks does not mean God has abandoned the temple. Sometimes healing happens slowly, one cracked pillar at a time. Grief2Grace Podcast Season 2: Rebuilding After Loss August Theme: Rebuilding After Trauma & Recovery Guest: Rev.
