    Moving On From The Scott Barnes Era At Oregon State

    This past week, Oregon State Director of Athletics Scott Barnes announced that he will step down this August after a decade on the job in Corvallis. It's a massive change, but one that's probably needed as the University rejoins the Pac-12. Barnes is expected to help transition his successor and remain as an advisor to the department until 2027. How did we get here and what's next? Meanwhile, with football continuing to rebuild under JaMarcus Shephard, some things are coming into focus, while others are not. What are the biggest unknowns about the Beaver football team as the month of April begins? Per reports, the Oregon State basketball coaching staff is growing with Justin Joyner hiring his first two assistants. Who are Danny Yoshikawa and Michael Plank and what can they bring to the program? Oregon State baseball are again inside the top ten nationally after a few dominant performances against Mercer in Corvallis this weekend. Harder games are ahead of them, but Oregon State have proven they have (at-least) two of the best pitchers in the country with Dax Whitney and Albert Roblez. What does Mitch Canham's group need to do to keep it going against bigger competition in the coming days?     Big Questions For Oregon State Football & Basketball in 2026

    It's late March and once again, neither of Oregon State's basketball programs are still part of the madness. To state the obvious, women's basketball head coach Scott Rueck and newly hired men's basketball head coach Justin Joyner are hoping to change that in the new year...it would make Scott Barnes' life a whole lot easier too. For Joyner in particular, he'll need to set up his recruiting pipeline, build a staff, and make a lot of high-impact decisions to set himself up for success. What should his highest priorities be this spring and summer? The Beaver football program will continue spring practices this month, and at the majority of positions, it's not particularly clear at this point who will be the main pieces for OSU. This week on state of the Beavs, we take a critical look at a few key position groups. Also, the Beaver baseball program is playing like they want to be a bigger part of the national conversation. Oregon State's latest road trip to Southern California yielded a few strong performances against UC Irvine. The Beavers also managed to find success even in an off day for Friday starter Dax Whitney.     Oregon State Hires Justin Joyner + Spring Football Begins

    After parting ways with Wayne Tinkle, Oregon State have hired Michigan assistant and former Randy Bennett protege Justin Joyner to guide the Beavers men's basketball program back to prominence. Joyner was introduced in Corvallis this week and discussed his background and early plans for the program. The Oregon State football program has also begun spring practices in advance of JaMarcus Shephard's first season as head coach. Shephard laid out what he wants to see his group do before they move into the summer months. Hear that audio in this week's episode. Meanwhile, Oregon State women's basketball nearly secured their second West Coast Conference title, but couldn't close it out in the WCC Tournament against Gonzaga. Their season isn't quite over, however, as Scott Rueck's group prepare to host Wisconsin in the opening round of the WBIT. On the diamond, Oregon State's sweep of San Diego saw them give their best effort to quell the "pray for bats" sentiment, including a career-best performance from AJ Singer. That moved the baseball program to nine consecutive wins before Tuesday night's surprising loss to Portland. The question now becomes can Mitch Canham's squad maintain that level of offensive production while finding some consistency in the bullpen?     Beaver Baseball's Wonderful Week + Searching For MBB's Next Coach

    Over the past week, the Oregon State baseball program has given the Beavers plenty to smile about with a win over the Oregon Ducks and a perfect 4-0 series against Xavier in Corvallis. In addition to the offensive surge, Dax Whitney continues to show that he is one of the nation's top pitchers with a continued string of stellar performances on the mound. Whitney currently leads the NCAA in strikeouts with a whopping 45 in four appearances for OSU (24.1 total innings). Meanwhile, on the hardwood, the Oregon State women got revenge on Loyola Marymount in the West Coast Conference tournament, but could not repeat as league champions. The men got a stellar performance out of Dez White to beat San Francisco, but couldn't stop Graham Ike and Gonzaga as their season came to an end. The focus in Oregon State athletics now shifts to finding Wayne Tinkle's replacement. Who can fit the bill to elevate the program past what Tinkle was able to accomplish in his lengthy tenure with OSU? Oregon State's football program also began spring practice with a lengthy to-do list. What does the coaching staff need to prioritize before OSU's spring game on April 25?     End of the Wayne Tinkle Era at Oregon State

    After 12 seasons at the helm of Oregon State men's basketball, Wayne Tinkle is in his final days as the program's head coach. The big questions surrounding OSU's departure with Tinkle this week are "why now?" and "what's next?" The Beavers still have the West Coast Conference to deal with on both the men's and women's side. Your host Matt Bagley takes a look at the fields and what awaits the Beaver basketball programs in Las Vegas as they look to make a run at their respective trophies.     Over the weekend, the Oregon State baseball team won just one of their three games at the Round Rock Classic in Texas. The Beavers are looking to find their stride as they continue their stay in the Lone Star State this week with games against Houston, Alabama, and Iowa at the Frisco College Baseball Classic. Meanwhile, the Oregon State football program has a Spring Game to prepare for amidst a busy offseason for the group. We also learned this week that in addition to not being part of the schedule in 2026, the Ducks and Beavers will also not play one another in 2027. After a loss to Michigan on Friday to open the campaign. the Beavers grabbed three consecutive wins to start 3-1.     Baseball Season Begins For #11 Oregon State

    It's an incredibly busy week for Oregon State sports entering the second weekend of February. However, Oregon State is not be the only department making big moves this month. North Dakota State football will join the Mountain West Conference for football this fall, adding more fuel to the conversation surrounding the Pac-12/MWC fallout. Your host Matt Bagley asks the question this week: would a move like this have helped the Pac-12 in the latest round of conference realignment? Also, Oregon State baseball begins their 2026 season this week in Surprise, Arizona. Hear audio from head coach Mitch Canham's latest media availability ahead of Friday's season opener against the Michigan Wolverines. It was a tough week for both Oregon State basketball programs...While Wayne Tinkle's group did manage a win over Washington State, they ran into a Gonzaga team that beat them by 20. The women also suffered a blowout loss to Gonzaga, followed by a three-point heartbreaker at Portland.
