    #100 Pilgrimage for Armageddon; Week 5, Silly Hats & Unforeseen Consequences

    I can hardly believe we've reached episode 100! That's rather snuck up on me, and I'm feeling incredibly proud to have made it this far.  This week's episode of Nonsense in the Chaos takes an unexpected detour into the world of Big Brother, following the appearance of someone I know, Twinks Burnett, on the show. It's prompted me to reflect on just how much society has changed in recent years, the strange relationship we have with fame and visibility, and how grateful I am to be skirting through life and communities, spreading a little magic without having to deal with any spotlights myself. Meanwhile, the Pilgrimage for Armageddon continues, although this week brought the bittersweet goodbye to Scarlett, who has been walking alongside us. We'll miss her! As ever, the pilgrimage has a way of throwing up unexpected consequences, unlikely connections and plenty of opportunities to contemplate the bigger picture. From silly hats to Big Brother, this week's journey is a reminder that sometimes the most interesting revelations happen when life takes us somewhere we never intended to go.     We're in the half-way hump of our pilgrimage, where bodies are aching, kit is falling apart, and the going is getting tough. But just as we're being pushed to our limits, the landscape is changing again, and rural France is opening its doors to us in unexpected ways. From dystopian towns and boiling hot roads to fairyland encounters, generous strangers and moments of perfect Kairos timing, we're discovering that pilgrimage has a rhythm of its own. Sometimes the magic arrives when we least expect it, and sometimes the only way through is to keep putting one foot in front of the other.     #98 Pilgrimage for Armageddon; Week Three, In Relationship with Saint Michael

    It’s the Week of Michaelmas, and the pilgrimage has taken a distinctly autumnal turn. Rain, mud, long roads and some properly rough days have tested us — but they’ve also given us plenty of time to consider what it actually means to walk in relationship with Saint Michael. In this episode, we explore our own feelings about religion, the figure of Saint Michael, and the difference between following a religious tradition and forming a personal relationship with an archetype, a saint or a spiritual force. Looking at Michael through a more esoteric lens, we ask what he might represent beyond the familiar imagery of sword, shield and battle — and what happens when we allow ourselves to meet these ancient figures through our own experience, imagination and inner world. As the seasons turn, we continue walking towards the light, through the rain, and deeper into the pilgrimage.     #97 Pilgrimage for Armageddon; Week Two, An Equinox of Dolmens

    A chance meeting with an English couple, Bob and Sue, led us to discover a whole host of ancient dolmens scattered along our route — some sitting directly on the Michael/Apollo energy line. What followed was the most delightful Autumn Equinox, spent connecting with these extraordinary ancient places, the ancestors who built them, and our own ancestral lines. A week of walking, synchronicity, stones, stories and a growing sense that the landscape is guiding us along... As always.     #96 Pilgrimage for Armageddon; Week One, Meeting Athena.

    Week One of the Pilgrimage for Armageddon is underway and it turns out the first lesson was about nearly losing one of the most important members of the expedition… My pilgrim staff, Polly.  After nearly falling from the ramparts at Mont-Saint-Michel, Polly was rescued, reborn and transformed into Athena, one of the energy lines we're setting off walking, and of course the goddess of wise decisions, wisdom, courage, strategy and righteous action. Which got me thinking about what really matters. Perhaps the most precious things in the universe aren't gold, possessions or even the things we think we need to survive, but consciousness, imagination and love. And, apparently, a rather magnificent piece of wood. And wood is the most precious material in the known universe.     #95 Nature Awakening; Cae Mabon and the Council of Free Women

    This week, my pilgrimage preparations take me to the magical Cae Mabon in Wales, where I spend a week held in ceremony, surrounded by an extraordinary bunch of humans — and a veritable plethora of inspiring, powerful women. Amongst the mountains, streams, stories, laughter and a fair bit of emotional alchemy, I discover there’s rather more to preparing for a pilgrimage than sorting out boots and backpacks. I learn about the empowerment that can come with menopause, the importance of standing up for my own needs, and the radical act of occasionally saying “No, actually, that doesn’t work for me” instead of desperately trying to keep everyone else happy.     Sorry for being radio silent for the last couple of weeks! 🙈 I was ridiculously busy, having far too much fun, and frankly needed a little break from the everyday.
