Dare To Be Her with Kim Rush

This week, I am sitting down with Kimberly Rush. Kimberly is an Identity Midwife, business coach, and author who helps women stop abandoning themselves to keep everyone else comfortable. And she knows a thing or two about losing yourself. At 2 a.m., curled up in the backseat of her car after mold poisoning and chronic illness had turned her life upside down, Kimberly hit rock bottom. She barely recognized the woman she had become. But somewhere underneath the pain, the fear, and everything life had stripped away, there was still a spark. A knowing that this wasn’t how her story had to end. So she started writing a different one. She started questioning the rules she’d spent a lifetime following. The people pleasing. The self-doubt. The need for approval. The habit of saying yes when every part of her was screaming no. And little by little, she started choosing herself. That’s the heartbeat behind Kimberly’s work today. She helps women peel back the shoulds, expectations, and invisible rules they’ve been living by so they can hear their own voice again, trust what they know, and make choices based on what they actually want. Because confidence isn’t walking into the room without fear. It’s walking into the damn room while your knees are shaking. It’s saying no without writing a three-paragraph explanation. It’s posting the thing before you’ve rewritten it seventeen times. It’s asking for what you want. It’s taking up space. It’s choosing yourself—even when someone else doesn’t like your choice. Before becoming an Identity Midwife, Kimberly collected more careers than most people collect shoes: registered nurse, lactation consultant, Reiki practitioner, birth and postpartum doula, fairy hair stylist, web designer, educator, and entrepreneur. Turns out, she’s always been in the business of bringing things to life. Today, that means helping women bring HER to life. Kimberly is the author of Dare to Be HER: Unleashing Your Confidence, Power, and Authenticity and creator of the Dare to Be HER 5-Day Live Challenge. She was also born breech in Charlotte, North Carolina—so apparently following directions was never really her thing. She went skydiving for her 18th birthday, loves Bob Marley, and has an unbreakable connection to Hawaii, especially the ‘āina, hula, and aloha spirit. Her message? You don’t need permission. You don’t need to have it all figured out. And you sure as hell don’t need to become someone else. You just need to stop leaving yourself behind.
