In this episode, Cindy Cowan shares her incredible journey from growing up in a hotel family to becoming a trailblazing film producer and industry pioneer. She discusses her experiences breaking barriers as a female distributor, her insights on filmmaking, and her advice for aspiring creators.  Cowan is an Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated American film producer, songwriter, and entrepreneur who rose to prominence as the co-founder and former president of Initial Entertainment Group (IEG). Raised in Hollywood, Florida, around her family's famous hotel, The Diplomat, she was a world-champion equestrian in her youth before earning degrees from Tulane University and Harvard University. After beginning her media career as a CBS News affiliate producer and writing hit songs for artists like Howard Hewett, she co-founded IEG in 1995 and oversaw major project successes such as Rent-A-Kid, If These Walls Could Talk, and Steven Soderbergh's multi-Academy-Award-winning film Traffic. In 2000, she sold her stake in IEG to launch Cindy Cowan Entertainment, going on to produce films like Scorched, the star-studded thriller Red Lights, and the crime thriller Arkansas starring Vince Vaughn and Liam Hemsworth. Her recent work also includes producing the Emmy-winning documentary Miracle on 42nd Street, the action-thriller Cleaner starring Daisy Ridley and Clive Owen, and high-profile upcoming projects like Screen Gems' True Haunting and an untitled *NSYNC superfan feature film alongside Lance Bass and TriStar Pictures. Today, she remains a prominent force in independent film financing, digital media ventures, and global philanthropy, serving on multiple charitable boards and being named Humanitarian of the Year by the Hollywood Women's Film Institute
