Great Leaders Don’t Just Manage. They Make Time to Lead | EP 24 with Sean Blunt || 4K

What can volunteer firefighters teach us about helping people perform at their best? And what happens when administration crowds out the time and freedom people need to contribute?  In Episode 24 of the Inspiring Leadership Podcast, Dominic Siow sits down with Sean Blunt to explore lessons from military service, volunteer firefighting and project management.  Sean’s experience with the Rural Fire Service brings the human side of leadership into focus: people find meaning in contributing, developing their skills and belonging to a team. Understanding what motivates each person is part of the work of leadership.  A central takeaway is that leaders need to protect those conditions. Excessive administration can consume the time needed to develop people and keep purpose visible. Accountability still matters; the challenge is to implement it thoughtfully, using people’s strengths while preserving their agency and motivation.  Sean also shares a memorable story about a project team whose performance was slipping. The project director invited a soldier returning from an operational environment to explain how their work was helping save lives. The team could see the human difference it was making, and its sense of purpose returned.  The work hadn’t changed. Their connection to its purpose had.  We also explore leadership beyond job titles, making decisions under uncertainty, owning mistakes and continuing to learn.  Watch the conversation and consider: what could you change to give your people more room to contribute at their best?  Subscribe to the Inspiring Leadership Podcast for conversations about leadership, emotional intelligence, team culture and the human side of work.  #Leadership #LeadershipDevelopment #ProjectLeadership #TeamLeadership #InspiringLeadership

From $500 in Sydney to AI Entrepreneur | Aaron Bost | Inspiring Leadership Podcast EP 23 || Full Video

What would you do if you arrived in Sydney with a suitcase, $500 and no guarantee that things would work out?  For Aaron Bost, it became the beginning of a remarkable journey.  At 24, Aaron moved from the United States to Australia with just $500. What followed was a series of unexpected jobs, difficult moments, bold decisions and opportunities that eventually took him into technology, GitHub and an Asia-Pacific career before leading him into entrepreneurship and AI.  But this conversation with Dominic Siow is about much more than career success.  Aaron shares how a teacher sparked his childhood imagination about Japan, why he learned to listen when life seemed to be sending him a signal, what working across cultures in Asia taught him about respect and trust, and how becoming a father changed his definition of success.  He also reflects on his family history, the idea of hope across generations, and what it means to make the most of the freedom and choices we have today.  Towards the end of the conversation, Aaron offers a fascinating perspective on AI and the future of work. He describes AI as an “intelligence equaliser” and argues that as intelligence becomes increasingly accessible, human qualities will become even more important.   He also introduces an idea he calls “non-abrasive leverage”: creating businesses and ecosystems where the people around you can win too.  Aaron's story is a reminder that sometimes you cannot see the whole path.  You simply recognise the next step, take it, and discover where it leads.  “The message you want is already there. So listen to it.”  Subscribe to the Inspiring Leadership Podcast for more conversations about leadership, purpose, people and the choices that shape our lives.

Creating the Conditions for Great Leadership || EP 22 with Toni Brendish || Inspiring Leadership || 4K

Over more than three decades leading organisations across Australia and Asia Pacific, Toni Brendish has consistently delivered outstanding business results while building cultures where people thrive. In this conversation, Toni shares a leadership philosophy shaped by purpose, trust, discipline, continual learning and genuine care for people. Rather than seeing methodology and governance as bureaucracy, she explains how structure and discipline actually create the conditions that empower teams to perform at their very best. Together we explore: • Why purpose must be created with people, not simply communicated to them • Building trust that enables high performance across cultures • Leading through crisis while remaining authentic • Creating values-aligned teams that challenge and support one another • The courage to make difficult leadership decisions • Why "it takes a village" applies just as much to leadership as it does to family • How boards should think about AI, leadership and the future of work This is a thoughtful conversation about leadership that develops people, delivers results and leaves organisations stronger than they were found. Leadership isn't about having all the answers. It's about creating the conditions where people can become the very best version of themselves. I Wasn't Struggling, I Was Being Trained. | Devendra Kumar | Inspiring Leadership Podcast EP 21 || 4K

What if the hardest season of your life was never meant to define you, but prepare you?  In this episode of the Inspiring Leadership Podcast, Dominic Siow sits down with Devendra Kumar, whose early life began with abandonment and life in the slums of New Delhi, and who later went on to found Ladli Foundation Trust, an organisation dedicated to protecting and empowering girls and women from underserved communities. Through education, social protection and opportunity, the organisation has impacted millions of lives.  During our conversation, what stayed with us most wasn't the scale of Devendra's impact. It was the way he reframed his entire life. Rather than seeing hardship as something to overcome, he saw it as preparation for the purpose he would eventually fulfil.  Devendra also shares a deeply personal philosophy on intelligence, self-awareness and looking within. He reminds us that we often forget to activate our intelligence, and that real growth begins when we stop relying only on external answers and start trusting our own inner wisdom.  One of the most memorable metaphors in the conversation is his description of himself as “flowing water” rather than a pond, a powerful image of movement, resilience and forward motion.  If you are drawn to stories of adversity, purpose, leadership and human transformation, this conversation is for you.  Connect with Devendra on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/devenkg/  Connect with Dominic on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dominicsiow/
