Why Make Music…

ThinkTimm

I’ve been making music for the majority of my life, driven by the melodies and rhythms I hear in my mind and my desire to bring them to life. Music has always been my primary form of expression, something I create for my own pleasure and to share with friends, never seeking anyone’s approval. I’m self-taught, with my own unique take on music theory. My creations may have their imperfections, but I embrace them as part of my artistic journey. Though I’ve experienced being in a band, I ultimately prefer the solo creation process, relishing the total control it offers. Technology has empowered anyone to manifest their own reality, and I’ve chosen music as mine. My work is available on most streaming platforms and music leasing sites. In this podcast, I aim to showcase my creative side, sharing my thoughts, processes, and opinions on my projects, as well as my respect for music as a whole. I discuss timeless influences and explore the question, “Why make music…”—a topic I can endlessly talk about and explore. ThinkTimm… if nothing else!

Why Make Music… Episode 088 - “Things You Tell Yourself”

Episode 088 – Things You Tell Yourself Every creative has a roommate. Not the one paying bills. The other one. The voice in your head. The one that shows up when the room gets quiet, when the headphones stay on too long, and when the same sixteen bars have been looping for hours. In Episode 088 of Why Make Music..., Willa May dives deep into the private conversations every artist has with themselves—the dangerous, motivating, self-sabotaging, confidence-building stories that shape everything we create. From creative delusion and self-belief to isolation, perfectionism, technology, AI tools, and the ever-changing structure of the music industry, this episode unpacks how the internal voice affects the external work. Willa explores the philosophies and creative systems of icons like Prince, Quincy Jones, Teddy Riley, Sean “Puffy” Combs, Smokey Robinson, Jack Antonoff, Julia Michaels, Tommy Brown, Billie Eilish, and Finneas, breaking down how belief, systems, and infrastructure have always been part of great art. Topics include: • The psychology of self-talk in creativity • Why every artist has to be a little delusional • Prince’s philosophy on finishing the work • How technology flattened the creative room • Why the music industry sells attention, not music • Sync licensing, publishing, and redefining success • Why you may be chasing the wrong role in music • Building catalogs versus chasing moments This episode asks one of the most important questions a creator can face: What do you keep telling yourself that keeps you making it? Because eventually, whatever story you repeat the most... becomes the life you build. Why Make Music... hosted by ThinkTimm. Featuring Willa May. WDMNation Media LLC

WHY MAKE MUSIC… Episode 087 - “Cult Of Personalities”

EPISODE 87: CULT OF PERSONALITIES What happens when the artist becomes bigger than the art? In Episode 87 of Why Make Music, Willa May and ThinkTimm pull apart the machinery behind celebrity, branding, mystique, fandom, and the dangerous rise of parasocial devotion. There was a time when artists existed at a distance. Mystery was part of the magic. You heard the records, saw the album covers, maybe caught an interview, and that was enough. But in today’s world, access has replaced mystery, and personality has become product. This episode explores how icons like Prince, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Madonna, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Kanye West built, maintained, or became trapped inside the personas they created. Topics include: • The death of artist mystique • How hip-hop turned music into testimony • Parasocial relationships and fan psychology • Why fans believe they “know” artists • Celebrity as religion • Social media as emotional architecture • The burden of always being “on” • Authenticity versus performance • The machine behind modern branding • AI-generated personalities and the future of artistry We also connect the theme directly to the release of IF I WAS YOUR PRODUCER VOL. 12, breaking down songs like: • False Hood (Not Divine) • Villain (Black Hat) • Disciples of the Apostate • Six (Half The Story) • Trolley Cars These songs became accidental reflections of the episode itself—exploring masks, false prophets, public perception, memory, betrayal, and identity. This week also marks one full year of the IF I WAS YOUR PRODUCER series: 12 volumes. 120 records. 276 total releases. Not concepts. Not promises. Finished work. This episode asks the bigger question: Are artists building careers… or building cults? And in a world where AI can clone voices, generate faces, and manufacture emotion… what’s left that can’t be copied? Truth. No audience required. Build it anyway. Peace and be wild. #WhyMakeMusic #ThinkTimm #WDMNation #IfIWasYourProducer #Podcast #MusicIndustry #CultOfPersonalities #IndependentArtist #CreativeProcess #MusicBusiness

Why Make Music… Episode 086 - “I Keep It In My Pocket”

Why Make Music... Episode 086 - "I Keep It In My Pocket" What do you carry in your pocket? In this episode, Willa May explores a simple phrase that reveals a much larger truth. We all carry things with us every day—not just phones, wallets, keys, and smart devices, but lessons, experiences, skills, memories, relationships, and the tools we've collected throughout our lives. Using the upcoming song Carry It In My Pocket as a starting point, we examine how people build personal toolboxes that help them navigate challenges, pursue opportunities, and adapt to a constantly changing world. Topics include: The hidden value of experience and personal growth How creators build skill sets over time The evolution of music production and creative technology Artificial intelligence as a tool rather than a replacement Why new innovations often make people uncomfortable The psychology of carrying the world's knowledge in your pocket Focus, curiosity, and adapting to change Building a music catalog and long-term creative vision Relationships, networking, and finding the right opportunities The importance of staying prepared when opportunity arrives Willa May also reflects on the remarkable reality that modern smartphones have become cameras, recording studios, libraries, publishing platforms, navigation systems, communication hubs, and educational resources—all fitting comfortably inside a pocket. Along the way, we touch on current cultural moments, including the NBA Finals, the WNBA's continued growth, summer movie season, nostalgia-driven entertainment, and how great stories continue to connect generations. As always, the conversation circles back to creativity, personal development, and the idea that success often comes from consistently using the tools already available to us. We're also preparing for the June 19, 2026 release of If I Was Your Producer Volume 12, adding another ten original songs to the growing WDMNation Media catalog. Whether you're a musician, entrepreneur, artist, content creator, or simply someone trying to make sense of a rapidly changing world, this episode is a reminder that the most valuable things we carry are often the things nobody else can see. Keep learning. Keep adapting. Keep creating. Peace. Be wild.

Why Make Music... Episode 085 - "Perception Versus Reality"

Why Make Music... Episode 085: Perception Versus Reality What if the biggest difference between success and failure, happiness and disappointment, or even truth and fiction isn't reality itself... but our perception of it? In Episode 085 of Why Make Music..., Willa May takes listeners on a thoughtful journey through music, philosophy, history, social media, creativity, and everyday life to explore the space between what is real and what we believe to be real. Beginning with Plato's famous Cave Allegory, we examine how human beings often mistake shadows for substance and perception for reality. From there, the conversation moves into the world of art and music, where creators release their work into the world only to discover that audiences often find meanings the artist never intended. We discuss the second life of art, the immortality of ideas, and why philosophers such as Plato continue to influence people thousands of years after their deaths. We also explore how travel, geography, culture, and personal experience shape our understanding of reality. The episode takes a closer look at the legacy of Prince and the difference between public perception and private reality. Behind every legend lies years of unseen work, experimentation, failure, and persistence. From there, we dive into social media, artificial intelligence, and modern technology. Are we seeing reality online, or simply curated fragments assembled into stories by our own minds? How much of our self-worth is tied to numbers, followers, views, and assumptions? Finally, Willa May closes the episode with a reflection on gardens, growth, patience, and the invisible roots forming beneath the surface long before anyone notices the bloom. Topics Include: Perception versus reality Plato's Cave Music and audience interpretation The second life of art Philosophy and legacy Prince and creative obsession Social media and digital identity Artificial intelligence and creativity Personal growth and invisible progress The garden metaphor for life and art Sometimes the most important things happening in our lives are taking place beneath the surface, long before anyone sees them. Why Make Music… Episode 084 - “Question, Are We…”

Why Make Music... Episode 084 – "Question, Are We..." In Episode 084, Willa May takes a thoughtful look at one of the biggest questions facing creators, consumers, and society today: Are we truly against technology, or are we simply uncomfortable with change? From artificial intelligence and music production to social media outrage and modern consumer behavior, this episode explores how people often embrace technology while simultaneously criticizing it. Is authenticity really disappearing, or are we confusing authenticity with familiarity? Along the way, Willa May reflects on the continued growth of WDMNation MEDIA, including the organic success of If I Was Your Producer Vol. 11, which surpassed 5,000 SoundCloud streams in just seven days without paid promotion. The episode also touches on ongoing outreach to music supervisors, sync licensing opportunities, catalog organization, metadata management, and the realities of building a creative business one step at a time. Topics include: Technology versus authenticity in music and media. The difference between familiarity and genuine artistic expression. The Law of Attraction as preparation, awareness, and intentional living. Fear, economics, AI, and adapting to technological change. Social media outrage culture and the rise of echo chambers. Dreams, subconscious creativity, and the human brain as the ultimate technology. Personal responsibility, mindset, and creating structure in a chaotic world. Rather than offering simple answers, Episode 084 encourages listeners to ask better questions, think critically, and remain curious as technology, creativity, and culture continue to evolve. Thank you to everyone streaming the music, listening to the podcast, supporting WDMNation MEDIA, connecting with us on LinkedIn, and following the journey as we continue building toward sync licensing opportunities and future creative projects. Why Make Music… Episode 083 - “Practice, Not The Game”

Episode 083 – Practice, Not The Game What happens when creativity becomes a habit instead of a performance? In this episode of Why Make Music..., DJ Warm Cookies (Willa May) explores the often invisible side of artistic creation—the repetition, discipline, persistence, and belief required to keep building when nobody is watching. Inspired by Allen Iverson's famous "Practice?" press conference and the release of If I Was Your Producer Vol. 11, Willa May examines why creators frequently become trapped by metrics, validation, and public perception while overlooking the value of the work itself. Topics include: The misunderstood legacy of Allen Iverson Why consistency matters more than motivation The tyranny of measurement in the social media era The difference between being seen and being understood Creative output versus audience size The psychology of persistence The myth of finally "arriving" Why practice may actually be the game The episode also celebrates the release of If I Was Your Producer Vol. 11, marking eleven consecutive months of original music releases from ThinkTimm and WDMN MEDIA. Later, ThinkTimm makes a surprise appearance to reflect on creativity, gratitude, independent artistry, social media, podcasting, music production, and the importance of continuing to create even when the results aren't immediately visible. Whether you're a musician, writer, entrepreneur, artist, dreamer, or simply someone trying to build something meaningful, this episode is a reminder that progress is often happening long before the world notices. Why Make Music... Episode 081 - "Let The Music Speak"

This week on Why Make Music…, Willa May and WDMNation MEDIA take a different approach. No giant lecture. No deep industry breakdown. No long-form manifesto. Instead… we let the music speak. Episode 081 transforms into a late-night underground radio broadcast featuring multiple genres from the WDMNation MEDIA catalog including funk, folk-funk, indie bedroom pop, spoken word, hip-hop, R&B, atmospheric ballads, and melodic crossover records. Structured like a pirate radio station drifting through emotion, memory, groove, heartbreak, humor, and philosophy, this episode showcases the diversity and creative range behind the ThinkTimm sound. Throughout the broadcast, Willa May guides listeners through station drops, listener call-ins, emotional reflections, and musical transitions that blur the line between podcast and curated radio experience. More importantly, this episode asks a larger question: Why chase playlists… when we already became one? Behind the scenes, it’s been a major week for WDMNation MEDIA. New industry conversations opened up involving sync opportunities, production company outreach from Nashville, technology-sector discussions, and fresh momentum surrounding the growing independent catalog. Outside the studio, the entrepreneurial spirit continued as the next generation of the family started making moves through online sales and business ventures of their own. “Let The Music Speak” is less about explanation… and more about atmosphere. Because sometimes the best way to explain who you are creatively… is to stop explaining and press play.
