How The Lack of Pelvic Floor Education Harms Women Every Day

In this episode, I'm pulling back the curtain on one of the biggest problems in healthcare: the lack of education surrounding the pelvic floor. From pregnancy pain being dismissed as "normal" to postpartum symptoms being brushed aside, too many women are left feeling confused, unsupported, and wondering why no one prepared them for what they're experiencing. I'm sharing my personal story, why pelvic floor education became such a passion of mine, and how the lack of awareness affects everything from pregnancy pain and leaking to birth preparation, postpartum recovery, and even patient safety. Trigger warning, this episode talks about being sexually abused by a medical professional disguising his treatment as pelvic floor. We'll talk about: • Why so many women don't know what their pelvic floor actually does • Common myths and misconceptions surrounding pelvic health • The gap between what moms need and what they're often told • Why "just do kegels" isn't the answer • How understanding your body can help you feel stronger, more confident, and more supported during pregnancy and postpartum If you've ever felt dismissed, discouraged, or like you were expected to simply live with pain, leaking, weakness, or discomfort, this episode is for you. Because pregnancy pain may be common, but that doesn't mean it's normal. And every mom deserves access to the education and support needed to feel comfortable and confident in her body. Why You Shouldn't Wait 6 Weeks Postpartum

The standard “6 week wait” postpartum advice has become the norm — but it’s also one of the most misunderstood and potentially harmful parts of recovery. In this episode, we’re challenging that narrative. Because moms aren’t struggling postpartum because they’re doing too much… They’re struggling because they’re given no guidance at all. You’ll learn: What the “6 week clearance” actually means (and what it doesn’t): It’s not a green light for full recovery and it was never meant to be. What’s happening in your body immediately postpartum: Your core and pelvic floor aren’t “offline” they’re healing, adapting, and needing support. Why doing nothing can backfire: Avoiding movement completely can contribute to weakness, poor coordination, and longer recovery timelines. Common issues that stem from this approach: – Leaking – Pelvic pressure – Pain with movement or intimacy – Core instability What to do instead: Gentle, intentional strategies that support healing without overdoing it, so you can feel stronger, sooner. This episode will help you stop guessing and start supporting your body with confidence in those early weeks postpartum. When contractions start... but stop and what to do

Your contractions start… you think this is it… And then they stop. Or they come back later. Stronger. Closer together. And then… nothing again. It’s confusing. It’s exhausting. And honestly? It can mess with your head. Because now you’re wondering: 👉 Is this real labor? 👉 Am I doing something wrong? 👉 How am I supposed to handle this if it keeps happening? Here’s what most moms aren’t told: This isn’t “just false labor.” And it’s definitely not your body failing. It’s called prodromal labor— and your body is actually trying to prepare. But without the right support, it can feel like you’re stuck in this frustrating loop. In this episode, we’re talking about: ✨ what prodromal labor actually is ✨ why your contractions keep starting and stopping ✨ what your body is trying to do ✨ and how to support your body so labor can progress Resources: More from Pelvic Floor Momma: Website: https://pelvicfloormomma.com/ The Pain-Free Pregnancy & Postpartum Package Stay connected with me on instagram: pelvicfloormomma Tik Tok, YouTube, and Facebook: @pelvicfloormomma MEDICAL INFORMATION DISCLAIMER Becca Boeving is a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. How to Avoid Unnecessary Induction (What you need to know before saying yes)

“Your due date is coming up…” “Baby is measuring big…” “We should schedule an induction…” And suddenly… it feels like your birth is no longer in your hands. No one sits down and fully explains: 👉 when an induction is actually necessary 👉 when it’s optional 👉 or what your body is capable of doing on its own So most moms say yes… not because they want to—but because they feel like they have to. Here’s the truth, mama: Inductions can be life-saving when they’re needed. But they are also often suggested before your body is truly ready. And that changes everything about your birth experience. In this episode, we’re talking about: ✨ what actually leads to inductions ✨ when they’re helpful vs. when you have options ✨ how to support your body so it’s ready for labor ✨ and how to walk into birth feeling informed—not pressured Because this isn’t about avoiding intervention at all costs… It’s about understanding your options and making decisions from confidence, not fear.
