Life is Delicious- Inspiration for Thriving in Midlife and Living Well with Joy, Purpose, Vitality, and Self Love.

Marnie Martin- Midlife Mentor, Empowerment Coach, Happiness Expert, Best Selling Author

Ever feel like midlife has you running on an endless hamster wheel of responsibilities while your own dreams gather dust? Is the crazy chaos of caring for everyone else leaving you exhausted and overwhelmed? Are you in desperate need of some self care, balance and reconnection with your most authentic self?  YOU are in the right place. This podcast isn't about surviving midlife; it's about crafting a next chapter overflowing with purpose, joy, and delicious possibilities. I'm Marnie Martin, a multi-passionate entrepreneur, daughter and a hot midlife Mama (literally) and over the last decade, I've been through career pivots, a divorce, and I survived the empty nest, only to have it fill up again. I spent the next several years travelling miles and miles every month to care for my elderly parents and my time and attention was so torn in every direction that I lost track of who I was, and I found myself in an endless cycle of people pleasing, putting out fires and running on empty. I know how it feels to be stuck in chronic overwhelm, stress and chaos and trust me, it's not a pretty picture.  I decided that it was time to take MY OWN life and health back and I worked hard to reclaim my health through radical self care practices, recalibrating my nervous system and setting healthy boundaries that allowed me to start living my life "on purpose" again. I'm here to show you that midlife doesn't have to be a crisis, but instead a beautiful invitation to remember who we are, to rediscover a new version of ourself, or to completely re-invent our life to reflect who we are becoming now-intentionally crafting a life by design that truly nourishes our soul. If you are ready to take back YOUR "Joie de Vivre", then you are in the exact right place! Each week brings conversations with health and wellness specialists, spiritual growth experts, and guests with courageous and transformative stories that will inspire you to break free from the overwhelm. You'll walk away with practical strategies, meaningful insights, inspiration and the permission to prioritize yourself  again.  We were born to thrive and experience life as the delicious feast it's meant to be. 62: The Midlife Overfunctioning Trap: 10 Signs You're Overfunctioning ( And Why You're So Tired)

Send us Fan Mail At 2 a.m., I’m not always sleeping, I’m mentally managing other people’s lives. If you’ve ever laid there running through your adult child’s problems, your parent’s meds, the family logistics, the friend you promised you’d help, and the thousand invisible details that keep everyone comfortable, you already understand the quiet pull of overfunctioning. It doesn’t show up as “I’m an overfunctioner.” It shows up as “I’m just responsible,” until being responsible turns into being responsible for everyone. I talk candidly about what this looks like in real life as a midlife woman in the Sandwich Generation, including the season where I supported my adult son while also stepping all the way in to care for my aging parents after a medical crisis. I share the moment I finally crashed, and the mentor’s line that changed everything: just because you can carry it doesn’t mean it’s yours to carry. We unpack the difference between caring and carrying, why capable women become everyone’s first call, and how validation and praise can quietly hook our self-worth to sacrifice. Then we get practical: the nervous system toll of chronic stress, high cortisol, disrupted sleep, and fight-or-flight, plus 10 clear signs you might be overfunctioning. We cover resentment as a boundary alarm, why rest is a biological requirement, how rescuing capable adults can block their growth, and simple phrases to start saying no without overexplaining. If you’re ready for healthier boundaries, less emotional labor, and a way back to yourself, press play, share this with a friend who carries too much, and subscribe and leave a review so more women can find it. 61: Intentional Living- 5 Steps to Planting Your Life Garden ( And A Guided Meditation )

Send us Fan Mail Your life is already growing something, even if you can’t see it yet. We start with a real garden story, from barefoot morning walks with coffee to the surprising magic of winter sowing seeds in milk jugs. For weeks it looks like nothing is happening, and then one day tiny green sprouts appear. That slow start becomes the metaphor we can’t ignore: your confidence, health, relationships, and goals often change underground first, where no one can clap for you. We talk about the “garden of your life” as a practical mindset tool: every thought is a seed, every belief is a seed, and every habit is a seed. What you water with attention grows. Gratitude, kindness, courage, and purpose expand when you choose them consistently, while fear, worry, and negative self-talk can spread like weeds without permission. If you’ve been frustrated that you’re not “there” yet, this is your reminder that growth takes time and that environment matters just as much as intention. You’ll hear five actionable ways to be more intentional: focus on one seed for the next 30 days, audit what you’re feeding, water daily instead of occasionally, pull weeds early by replacing limiting self-talk, and trust the process when your timeline feels slow. We also share a small story about planting again after nothing sprouts, then we guide you through a calming meditation where you walk through different sections of your life, clear what no longer belongs, and plant one new seed with a promise to tend it. If this hits home, subscribe for more grounded personal growth, share it with a friend who needs a fresh start, and leave a review so more people can find the show. 60: Reclaim JOY with your Summer Bucket List

Send us Fan Mail How many summers do you really have left and what changes when you say the number out loud? We start with a simple May reset: intentional indulgences that awaken your senses and pull you out of autopilot. Think open windows, sunshine that lasts a little longer, flowers “just because,” and a slow outdoor ritual that asks for only ten minutes but gives you your life back. If you’re craving self-care that feels real, not performative, this is your gentle nudge to step outside and fully experience your days again.  From there, we share a moment from Mark Nepo’s The Book of Awakening that captures what so many of us do in midlife: we build a schedule, chase errands, and accidentally become a slave to a day we invented. One bird song, one pause, and the whole spell breaks. That leads into the powerful “30 summers left” perspective, inspired by loss and the clarity it brings. It isn’t a countdown meant to scare you. It’s a treasure map that helps you prioritize what matters while you still have time to play.  You’ll get practical ideas for a summer bucket list that’s actually a “to feel” list, permission to say yes to something you’ve always wanted to try, and a challenge to be a tourist in your own town instead of waiting for vacation to start living. If you’re ready for more joy, more presence, and a summer you can honestly say you claimed, press play now. Then subscribe, share this with a friend who needs a nudge, and leave a review so more people can find Life Is Delicious. Support the show LOVING THIS CONTENT? 59: The Midlife Empty Nest Reset with Kelly Salmons

Send us Fan Mail The moment your kids leave home can look “normal” from the outside and still feel like an emotional free fall on the inside. The house gets quieter, routines break, and a question starts whispering in the background: who am I now? We’re naming that experience for what it often is: empty nest syndrome, a real midlife transition that can bring sadness, anxiety, decision fatigue, and a surprising loss of identity. I’m joined by Kelly Salmons, founder of The Nest Evolution, who shares her own jarring empty nest story, including what “functional freeze” feels like when you’re going through the motions but nothing is working. We talk about the pressure to be “fine,” the way social media can hide the truth, and why “good on paper” doesn’t always mean you feel good in your body. We also get into the sandwich generation reality: shifting hormones, aging parents, evolving relationships with adult kids, and the emotional cost of decades of caretaking. Kelly offers grounded, practical ways to move forward without trying to perfect your way out of pain: resetting your nervous system, choosing one small action a day, using structure to reduce overwhelm, and rebuilding clarity through journaling or even voice recording and transcription. If you’re craving purpose, connection, and a real plan for your next chapter, you’ll leave with language, tools, and hope. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs it, and leave a review with the one takeaway you’re trying this week. Support the show LOVING THIS CONTENT? 58: Solo Travel for Women Over 50: Find Yourself Without Being Alone

Send us Fan Mail Something shifts in midlife, and suddenly the question gets loud: what would it look like to do something just for me? Travel is one of the fastest ways to answer that, but for a lot of women the dream bumps into real concerns about safety, confidence, and being “alone” in a new country. We wanted a conversation that tells the truth about those fears and then actually helps you move through them. We sit down with Regina Winkle Bryan, founder of Bold Spirit Travel, to talk about solo women travel that feels supported, empowering, and genuinely fun. Regina shares how a Spanish-learning trip to Costa Rica turned into years of living abroad in Guatemala and Spain, and why experiences like the Camino de Santiago can be so transformational for women in transition. We dig into what makes small group tours work so well for solo travelers, including the way community forms when everyone arrives with the same quiet goal: to expand their life and meet themselves again. You’ll also get practical, confidence-saving travel advice you can use immediately: capsule wardrobe basics, why breaking in shoes and training walks matter, what to do with cash and credit cards, and why relying on your phone for everything can backfire. We wrap with destination inspiration for different styles of travel, from Portugal’s easy logistics and wine culture to the Amalfi Coast and Ischia’s thermal spas, plus active options like Scotland hiking, Iceland adventures, and the Greek Islands. If you’re ready for your next chapter and want it to feel bold, listen now, then subscribe, share this with a friend who needs a nudge, and leave a review so more women can find the show. 57: How to Set Boundaries Without Guilt: The Power of Saying No in Midlife

Send us Fan Mail Your calendar is full, your patience is thin, and somehow you still feel guilty for wanting one quiet hour to yourself. We’ve been there, and it’s exactly why we’re getting honest about boundaries, people pleasing, and the small words that decide how we live. We start with the power of saying no, not as a harsh shutdown, but as a clear act of self-respect. When we say yes out of fear or obligation, we often end up paying for it with stress, resentment, and burnout. Midlife can amplify this, especially if you’re juggling kids, aging parents, work, and community commitments. We talk through why “no” feels selfish, why it’s usually kinder than we think, and how to stop giving away your time and energy on autopilot. Then we make it practical: we share simple “no scripts” you can use immediately, plus a pause strategy for when a request catches you off guard. From there, we shift into the phrase that quietly steals agency, “I can’t,” and we reframe it into “I don’t,” a boundary-based way of speaking that signals choice, clarity, and values. We connect this to learned helplessness, mindset, and the way repetition can shape your habits and even your confidence. If you want stronger personal boundaries, better communication, and a self-care approach that actually works in real life, press play. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs permission to say no, and leave a review with the boundary you’re practicing this week. Support the show LOVING THIS CONTENT? 56: Your Midlife Relationship Reset- Weeding Your Garden with Intention

Send us Fan Mail Midlife can feel like carrying a full watering can every single day. Between kids, aging parents, work, and our own changing bodies, we don’t have extra energy to waste, yet many of us still do. We’re talking about “weeding your garden” of relationships: the practical, honest process of deciding who actually belongs in your life now, and who quietly pulls you down. We break relationships into two simple categories you can feel in your body: flowers and weeds. Flowers are the people who see you, cheer for you, and bring light without asking you to shrink. Weeds are the chronic drainers, the subtle dismissers, the ones who only show up when they want something, and the connections that leave you depleted after every conversation. We also share how big transitions like divorce or a move can become a clean line in the sand, a chance to reset your friendships and choose the next season on purpose. You’ll hear gentle, usable boundary scripts, why pulling back doesn’t have to be dramatic, and how reducing your time and emotional labor can change everything. Then we talk about planting with intention: creating space for new friendships, community, and a support system that protects your mental health and strengthens your self-worth. If you’re ready to bloom again with deeper roots and a steadier joy, press play, then subscribe, share with a friend, and leave a review so more women can find this conversation. 55: The Secret to Midlife Reinvention with Rohanna Doylida

Send us Fan Mail Ever catch yourself thinking, “Maybe it’s too late to reinvent myself?” We meet so many midlife women who feel that crossroads moment: the career that used to fit suddenly doesn’t, retirement is shifting identity, the empty nest is getting closer, or a steady inner voice keeps saying there’s something more. The fear isn’t change itself, it’s the idea that you’ll have to start from scratch and pretend your past doesn’t matter. We don’t buy that for a second. I’m joined by brand strategist Rohanna Doilida, a true second-career woman whose path includes performing on Chicago stages, building a gluten-free and dairy-free bakery after her child’s celiac diagnosis, and teaching early childhood education. Together we dig into what midlife reinvention really looks like: the emotional weight of visibility, the sneaky ways imposter syndrome shows up, and why so many capable women freeze when someone asks, “So, what do you do?” We talk personal branding as translation, not performance, and how to connect the dots in a nonlinear career so your credibility becomes obvious. Rohanna shares her Wisdom Bridge method, plus concrete tools you can try today: stop using self-minimizing language, set a simple intention in the morning, and celebrate small wins at night to build real self-trust. We also explore embodied confidence and the Body Brand Blueprint approach to articulating your value without shrinking, over-explaining, or relying on a script. If you’re navigating a career pivot, building a personal brand, returning to work, or craving a midlife second act with purpose, hit play and come with us.
