But it's also all right to be angry once in a while. For example, think of a person you admire and imagine what they would do in such a situation. Wouldn't they be angry as well? They'd find this situation intolerable, too, wouldn't they? If the answer is yes, then allow yourself to be angry. I think you tend to focus too much on your ideals and pressure yourself by thinking, I have to be this kind of person!” “If that's your only option. But you don't need to seek that out. I think what you're proposing now is just another extreme measure. Your emptiness and fear are all mixed up, and you're asking for help to defend yourself. But if you depend on another person for help, it'll satisfy you only for a moment, and you may not be able to stand on your own two feet later. And you'll lose interest in new things or pleasures.” “I used to love being alone. Lying in my bed as I read or daydreamed, taking walks, listening to music on the bus or subway, napping, all of these were my favourite times of the day. But for the past two weeks, I've felt inundated by a strange feeling called 'boredom'.”

Herkese merhaba, bu bölümde “I want to die but i want to eat Tteokbokki” kitabından sevdiğim bölümleri okuyorum ve çevirisini yapıyorum. 😇 📷englishwesen ✉️engteacheresen@gmail.com Seçtiğim alıntılar: “When you’re having a hard time, it’s natural to feel like you’re having the hardest time in the world. Ant it’s not selfish to feel that way. Just because certain conditions in your life are relatively better, it doesn’t mean you’re better off in general. Take jobs or schools. It’s great when you get into a good company or university, but once you settle in, the complaints begin.” “Do you think it would be possible to think, This place is perfect! from the beginning of any experience to the end? Other people might envy you, but that doesn't mean you yourself will automatically be satisfied with your lot, which is why you shouldn't torture yourself with questions like, Why can't I be happy with what I have?” “There is no absolute good when it comes to relationships. And it's perfectly healthy to have disagreements with friends and lovers from time to time. I just hope you learn to differentiate the parts from the whole. Just because you like one thing about a person, you don't need to like everything about them. And just because you don't like one thing about a person, it doesn't mean the person as a whole isn't worth your time. I think you should get in the habit of thinking differently.” Metinlerdeki önemli ifadeler: 1- Just because..., it doesn't mean... “Sırf ... diye, ... anlamına gelmez” şeklinde düşünebilirsiniz.  Metinde geçen cümle:  “Just because certain conditions in your life are relatively better, it doesn’t mean you’re better off in general.”  ( Hayatındaki bazı koşullar nispeten daha iyi diye, bu genel olarak daha iyi durumda olduğun anlamına gelmez.)  2- Have a hard time: zor durumda olmak, zor zamanlar geçirmek 3- Settle in: yerleşmek, alışmak, bir işe, yeni bir yere veya okula. 4- Complaint-noun: şikayet ( Complain-verb: şikayet etmek)  5- From …. To.... : ‘dan….’ye şeklinde çevirebiliriz. Zaman, mesafe veya süreç bildirirken kullanırız. “I drove from İstanbul to İzmir.” “I work from 9 to 7.” “From the beginning to the end: başından sonuna kadar.” 6- Which is why: bu yüzden (yan cümle) 7- Torture yourself: kendine acı çektirmek 8- What I have: things that I have (noun clause) 9- Disagreements: anlaşmazlıklar 10- To differentiate: ayırt etmek, ayrıştırmak / the parts from the whole: parçaları bütünden 11- Just because…. you don’t need to… / Just because…., doesn’t mean / doesn’t mean that / you don’t need to… : Sırf … diye … olduğu anlamına gelmez.  12- Get in the habit of + Ving ( doing something) : bir şeyi alışkanlık haline getirmek 13- Lot: someone’s lot / the lot of someone: yaşam- hayat koşulları / durum
