Du Bois, Black and Red: W.E.B. Du Bois and the Afro-American Response to the Cold War, 1944-1963. In the interview we conducted here, we discussed the republication of that volume as well as a new volume about post-bellum Confederates seeking to expand the slave trade via Egypt and an invasion of Ethiopia. Slavery, the Slave Trade and the Roots of U.S. Imperialism is slated for publication at the end of July. This is a public episode.     Dr. Peter Nightingale, the Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Rhode Island, is long known for habituating the various protests, picket lines, and demonstrations throughout the state, perhaps most frequently in the last decade regarding climate change. But he also brings a deeper knowledge of the state’s current affairs into discussion as with regards to nuclear energy since the URI campus hosts a reactor. Our discussion is wide-ranging and includes a deep discussion of physics in producing nuclear weaponry, something that is both technical and yet very important to grasp.
