Thank You for Joining Me is for the newbie and indie podcaster. It's about what happens before (and after) the episode and most importantly, what happens in between. From the excitement of episode one to avoiding the podcrash after episode ten,  we'll not only cover the nut-and-bolts of creating your podcast, but also the mindset that will keep you going!Join in for episodes ranging from my personal podcast thoughts to sharing the space with podcast friends who will share their podcasting process, as well as insights of how to balance it outside of real life. We'll also talk about the hurdles of sharing our voice, and how to keep the creative spark going. This is a space where we can talk about what's working - and what's not working - in our podcasty life, share insights, and stay inspired so we can all keep hitting PUBLISH!

    26. Pivot! Publishing an Episode That Almost Wasn't (+ My Night On Stage with Mariska Hargitay)

    The thing no one tells you about podcasting is: you have to pivot... A LOT! In this episode, I share a story about how easy it is to talk ourselves out of recording an episode or to think that it's "too late" to publish.  I ran across this scenario in my other podcast (Cats: The Jellicle Ball episode). In the end, I'm glad I didn't scrap the idea or the episode.  We often forget that sharing a story, even if it's late or after the fact, can still be valuable and have an impact.  At the end of the episode, I also share an incredible story of how I landed on a Broadway stage in New York with the one and only Mariska Hargitay (Olivia Benson on Law and Order SVU)! 🙌🏽  This episode is all about Broadway and why we should consider pivoting an idea that didn't work out the way we hoped. After all, the show must go on!     The thing no one tells you about podcasting is... time zones can be a challenge. Whether we mix up the time in our heads or accidentally write it down incorrectly, time zones are pesky little things!     21. An experiment: How I'm using Top Chef to Create Editing Guardrails

    It's easy to over think during a podcast. Did that sound ok? Should I take this out?  The problem with overthinking is that it can slow us down too much. To try to get back on track, I decided to create some guardrails, Top Chef-style: set a timer and give myself a set amount of time to edit. No more, no less. In doing so, I’m forcing myself to stop overthinking small details and to move the edit faster.
