Yes, In My Backyard - We have Land. We have Mission. Let’s use Both.

Welcome back to Senior To Seniors. I’m Jim Mazziotti, and today I want to share a story that blends faith, community, and the future of housing in a way that feels… well, hopeful. You’ve probably heard the terms NIMBY — “not in my backyard” — and YIMBY — “yes in my backyard.” But now there’s something new, something rooted in compassion and purpose. It’s called YIGBY: Yes In God’s Backyard. This isn’t a political movement. It’s a heart movement — faith communities stepping forward to say, “We can help. We have land. We have mission. Let’s use both.” Inman reporter Jessi Healey recently highlighted a powerful example. A small-town church in North Carolina secured approval to expand its 30‑acre campus — not for profit, but for transitional housing, vocational classrooms, and twelve single‑family homes. That’s a church looking at its land and saying, “God gave us this. Let’s bless people with it.” Healey also reports that states like California, Florida, and Virginia have already passed laws allowing faith-based organizations to build housing on land they own. And more than a dozen other states are considering similar legislation. For seniors listening today, here’s why this matters. Faith communities have always been the backbone of our lives — places where we’ve worshiped, celebrated, grieved, and grown. Now, they’re stepping into a new role: helping solve housing needs with dignity, creativity, and compassion. This is more than development. It’s ministry. It’s stewardship. It’s love expressed through action. And after 34 years in real estate, I can tell you this with confidence: When housing is built with heart, the entire community is blessed. So today, I simply say: Bless this house. Bless this movement. And bless every faith community stepping forward to serve. Thank you for joining me on Senior To Seniors. Until next time, take care of yourselves… and take care of each other

You Were Betrayed, Now It's Time To Get Your Life Back - Mr. Jay - Senior To Seniors Podcast

YOU WERE BETRAYED, AND NOW ITS TIME TO GET YOUR LIFE BACK They say time heals all wounds. But what if it doesn't? What if some wounds — the ones born from betrayal, from broken trust, from the people who were supposed to love us and didn't — what if those wounds don't heal with time? What if they just... hide? If you've ever loved someone deeply and been devastated by them. If you've ever looked in the mirror and struggled to recognize the person staring back. If you've ever wondered whether healing is even still possible at this point in your life. Jim Mazziotti welcomes Mr. Jay.  Mr. Jay is a husband of nearly twenty years. A father. An author. A man who served this country — not once, but twice — in both the United States Army and the Air Force. A Master's-level educator. A published author. A certified Betrayal Trauma Practitioner. A minister. An inspirational speaker. And a coach who made a personal promise — a promise he has never broken — that he would never charge what the people who need him most cannot afford. Because he remembers. He remembers exactly what it felt like to be broken, and broke, at the very same time. Jay's website: mrjayrelationshipcoach.com.  His 'Trauma Journal:' mrjayrelationshipcoach.com/product/my-journal-paperback-from-tears-to-transformation-journal. AmazonBook tinyurl.com/4yta7s33 Whether you are carrying an old wound that never fully closed, navigating a relationship that has left you shattered, trying to understand why certain hurts from decades ago still have their hands around your throat — or simply wondering if it is too late to feel whole again — Mr. Jay talks about how you can get your life back after BETRAYAL.
