    How Do I Deal With Grief After Losing Someone I Love? | A Father’s Story

    How do you deal with grief after losing someone you love, especially when there is no answer to “why”? After learning that Bobby, a young member of our Brotherhood, passed away unexpectedly, I set aside the episode I had planned. His death brought me back to the loss of my daughter, Kelsey, and to the days when I was numb, the funeral ended, and everyone else’s life seemed to return to normal. In this episode, I share what grief felt like as a father: the loneliness, the anger at well-meant words that brought no comfort, and the need to hear from someone who understood. I also speak to men who have been taught to keep their pain to themselves, and to anyone wondering how to show up for a grieving friend. I don’t know the circumstances of Bobby’s death, and I won’t speculate. I simply want to honor him, hold his family in prayer, and make room for an honest conversation about loss.     Episode 137: You Have a Story to Tell. Don’t Take It to the Grave.

    You’ve thought about writing the book. You’ve thought about starting the podcast. You’ve thought about sharing what you’ve learned. But something keeps stopping you. Maybe you don’t think your story is important enough. Maybe you don’t know where to begin. Maybe you’re waiting until everything is figured out. But what if the story you keep calling your past is actually preparation for your future? In this episode of the 318 Brotherhood Podcast, Coach Rick speaks directly to the man who knows there is something inside him that needs to be shared. A story. A lesson. A message. A book. A podcast. A mission. The failures you wish you could erase may have taught you something another man desperately needs. The pain you survived may have given you a perspective somebody else doesn’t have yet. And the experience you’ve accumulated over 30, 40, or 50 years may be far more valuable than you realize. There are men who will leave this earth with books never written, messages never spoken, lessons never shared, and wisdom never passed on. Don’t let that be you. You don’t need to know how to write the whole book today. You don’t need the perfect podcast. You don’t need a business plan. You simply need to start digging. Look at the victories. Look at the failures. Look at the pain. Look at the people. Look at the expensive lessons. Then ask God: “What did You build in me through what I’ve lived, and who needs what You taught me?” Because somewhere inside what you’ve lived is a story. Inside that story is a lesson. Inside that lesson is a message. And somewhere out there is a person who may need to hear it. Your story was never meant to stop with you.
