101 | Does God Promise Success to Christian Authors? What Scripture Actually Says

You've prayed over your book launch, worked hard to market your books, and done your best to honor God through your writing. But when you check your KDP dashboard, the sales are still disappointing. And perhaps you've wondered, If I'm being faithful to God, why isn't He blessing my author business? After all, doesn't Scripture promise that God will prosper the work of our hands? That He has plans to prosper us? And that when we seek His kingdom first, He'll provide everything we need? But are we understanding those promises correctly? In this episode of The Anointed Scribe Podcast, we're digging into what the Bible actually teaches about prosperity, God's promises, financial provision, and the relationship between obedience and success. Together, we'll examine several familiar passages of Scripture, including Jeremiah 29:11, Psalm 1, and Matthew 6:33, to understand what God was saying in their original context and how those truths apply to us as Christian authors today. We'll also explore why disappointing book sales don't necessarily mean God is withholding His blessing, how our expectations can influence our business decisions, and what it means to pursue profitability while remaining faithful to His Word. If you've ever questioned God's faithfulness because your author business isn't growing the way you'd hoped, I hope you'll join me for this important conversation. Because understanding what God actually promises, and what He doesn't, can change the way you approach your writing, your business, and your relationship with Him. 100 | 5 Biblical Habits That Changed My Struggling Christian Author Business

I still remember the days I checked my KDP dashboard with a knot in my stomach, compared my progress with other authors, and wondered whether my Christian author business would ever earn enough to help support my family. So when I sat down to plan this special 100th episode, I thought I'd share my best book marketing strategies and the lessons I've learned from eight years of self-publishing. But the more I worked on that list, the more I realized I was leaving out the most valuable advice I could give you. Because some of the hardest lessons I've learned as a Christian author came from the times I allowed the pressure to succeed, earn more money, and keep up with the publishing industry to distract me from God. And I paid for it in more ways than one. In this milestone episode, I'm sharing five biblical habits that changed the way I approach my writing, make business decisions, and pursue profitability while keeping Christ at the center of it all. I'll share what those difficult seasons taught me, how these habits have shaped my relationship with God and my author business, and why I believe they deserve a place in your life, regardless of how many books you've published or how much you're earning. If you've been questioning your progress, struggling to stay motivated, or wondering whether all your hard work will ever pay off, I hope you'll join me for this conversation. After 100 episodes, this is the advice I most want to leave you with. 98 | Are You Reaching the Readers God Called You to Serve?

Are you working hard to sell your books but still not seeing the response you hoped for? The problem may not be that you need more visibility, more ads, or another platform. You may be reaching people who were never the best fit for your books in the first place. In this episode, you’ll look at how to recognize a mismatch between your books and the people paying attention, why “Christian readers” is often too broad to be useful, and how to get clearer on the people your work is genuinely suited to serve. We’ll unpack the difference between attention and buying intent, what Matthew 4:19 and 1 Corinthians 9 can teach us about keeping people at the center, and how reviews, emails, messages and reader conversations can help you understand what your readers value. You’ll also get a simple reader-research exercise to use with one of your books this week, so you can make wiser decisions about how you describe it, where you promote it, and who you’re trying to reach. If disappointing sales have made you question your book, your strategy or even your calling, this episode will help you check the reader fit before assuming the book itself is the problem. ──────────── 🚩 Is your author business built on a solid foundation? 97 | How Much Should Christian Authors Market Their Books?

Have you ever wondered whether marketing your books means you’re trying to take control of your book sales instead of trusting God with them? You believe God called you to write, but your books aren’t reaching as many readers as you’d hoped. So do you wait for God to open doors, or do you roll up your sleeves and start marketing your books? For Christian authors, finding the balance between faith, book marketing, and the desire to grow a profitable author business can be challenging. And when we’re unsure where to draw the line, we may end up holding back on the very things that could help more readers discover our books. In this episode of Anointed Scribe, we’re exploring what biblical wisdom teaches us about trusting God while taking responsibility for our author business, and how to approach book marketing with greater clarity and confidence. If you’re a self-published Christian author who wants to reach more readers, improve book sales, and grow your author business God’s way, this conversation is for you. ──────────── 🚩 Is your author business built on a solid foundation? 96 | Is Comparison Driving Your Author Business Decisions?

Have you ever felt content with your author business until you saw another author’s sales screenshot, launch results, ad success or publishing pace? Comparison can do more than make you feel behind. It can make you question a strategy that was working, spend money you hadn’t planned to spend, publish faster than fits your life, or chase a tactic that belongs in someone else’s business. In this episode, we look at how to learn from successful authors without turning their results into instructions for your own business. We’ll also spend time in John 21:20–22, where Peter asks Jesus, “What about him?” and consider what that exchange can teach us about keeping your attention on what God has asked you to do. You’ll learn how to spot comparison disguised as research, examine what is driving a business decision, and tell the difference between useful information and pressure to copy another author’s strategy or standard. If another author’s success has been making you second-guess your self-publishing strategy, marketing spend, sales or publishing pace, this episode will help you make your next decision based on your own business context and biblical wisdom. ──────────── 🚩 Is your author business built on a solid foundation? 95 | Book Marketing Beyond Social Media: How to Find More Readers

Do you feel pressured to post on social media every day just to stay visible and sell books? In this episode, you’ll learn how to find more readers without making Facebook, Instagram or TikTok the center of your book marketing strategy. We’ll look at the difference between your social media presence and your wider author platform, including the marketing assets that can keep helping readers discover your books after you log off. Your email list, website, retailer pages, book descriptions, back matter and online search all have a part to play. We’ll also look at Luke 5 and what Jesus’ response to increasing public demand can teach us about visibility, boundaries and deciding how much of your time and personal life belongs online. If social media takes more time and attention than you want to give it, this episode will help you look beyond daily posting and strengthen the parts of your author platform that give readers more ways to find you and stay connected. ──────────── 🚩 Is your author business built on a solid foundation? 94 | When Did Selling Books Get So Complicated? Diagnose Before You Try Another Strategy

Trying to sell more books can send you down a rabbit hole of keywords, categories, ads, email lists, social media and endless advice about what you should be doing next. But before you add another tactic, there’s a more important question to ask: Do you know what problem you’re actually trying to solve? In this episode, I’m sharing what I wish I had understood much earlier in my author career about the difference between collecting more information and making wiser decisions. We’ll look at Proverbs 4:7 and Romans 11:36, and why seeking God’s wisdom before reaching for the next strategy can save you from wasting time, money and energy on the wrong solution. I’ll also show you a practical way to look at your book sales and work out where your attention may be needed most before you decide what to change next. If selling books has started to feel far more complicated than writing them ever did, this episode will help you slow the noise, ask better questions and make a wiser next move.
