Jacob Haendel has been handed a death sentence. He has a terminal progressive disease that's eating away at the white matter of his brain. In six months, he'll be dead. As the months progress, Jake slips into a coma, laying there in total darkness. But something odd has happened... Jake is fully conscious. Nobody knows that he can hear them. They’re certain he's no longer in there. With the promise that Jake will never recover, friends and family visit less and less. Until there is just one person left. A person who begins to whisper strange admissions in his ear. It is here, helpless in his hospital bed, that Jake realizes what may have gotten him here in the first place. The scariest thing in the room is no longer the potential of dying, but rather, the person sitting right next to him. This is Blink, the untold true story and survival of Jacob Haendel. Love this show. I’m so invested. I wish they were longer episodes and that I could binge them all at once. Great story telling. Easy to listen to. Organized and well told. I hope there will be more stories from her once this is finished.
Great so far……

Excellent podcast. Jake’s locked-in syndrome kinda reminds me of the feeling of cataplexy. I’m so glad he has the opportunity to tell his amazing story! Besides the story being absolutely incredible by itself, it really struck me that the host did a fantastic job of telling the story while seeing everyone in it as just another human- no judgements, no biases, everyone is innocent until proven guilty (as it should be!). Like other listeners I’m just really hoping that they eventually go more into “the deal with Ellen”- her strange, mysterious, and seemingly two-faced behavior… what is going on there? especially since they dropped hints at the beginning that she was more involved with the cause of Jake’s accident than it appeared. How and why did Jake unexpectedly and miraculously recover from his illness, while others have not been so fortunate? Lots of unanswered questions leaving listeners more confused than we started with! I cannot imagine what everyone in this story went through- love and peace to all of you, and thank you for sharing 💖
Astounding!

This is a cannot-miss true story told in the most authentic way possible. Just when you think you’ve heard it all, there’s more. Wow, wow, wow!
The Break. The Heart.

Jake’s story is one of the most raw honest stories I have heard in a very long time. To be locked in one’s own mind in addiction is so hard. To then be literally locked in—alone, heartbroken, very speechless, and abandoned. That is another story. There are no words to explain the human connection that I felt hearing Jake express himself so vulnerably, truthfully, unabashedly. Thank you, Jake. Sincerely.
Am I being mislead?

As a few other reviews have mentioned, there’s a big hint that Jake’s drug use is not what caused his condition, "A person who begins to whisper strange admissions in his ear. It is here, helpless in his hospital bed, that Jake realizes what may have gotten him here in the first place." But now we’re on episode 8 and that mystery seems to have completely been forgotten, or was never actually a mystery to begin with? Were the sample collections the mystery? I’m feeling confused, and not in a fun way. The host’s narration is also melodramatic and doesn’t add much. She asks so many questions that just seem to add tension but for which she has no answer, on top of which she makes frequent grammatical errors that dive me nuts. It would be better if the story telling were more straightforward.
Don’t miss This!

Incredible - great true story
Captivating but production Choppy

The story is so so interesting and I’m glad this guy is getting to tell his story. However the episodes themselves are so short and considering how long you have to wait between each episode that is super annoying. She should have done at least an hour per episode and just had less episodes. Too many adverts per episode considering how short they are is also very off putting. Again another reason they should have made each episode a lot longer.

Boring

Not to diminish Jake’s recovery, good for him. But not sure what the point is of this podcast. I can’t finish it. It’s pretty boring stuff.
Meh

The transitions were so choppy , I'd sometimes stop several mins in to go back and see if I missed an episode. Didn't flow
