In this episode of Peter & Gracie, Peter and his miniature American Eskimo dog Gracie stay up past bedtime for a late-summer night at Moorecroft Regional Park, where the sky over the Strait of Georgia holds far more stars than the backyard in Coombs ever shows. With a star chart and a red-light flashlight, Peter's dad helps him find Orion the Hunter, the red supergiant Betelgeuse, whose light left it about seven hundred years ago, Cassiopeia the spinning queen, the Big Dipper and Polaris, the North Star that sailors once used to find their way. Peter's mum explains that people all over the world, including Indigenous peoples, have told their own stories about the stars for thousands of years, and Peter realizes his family is doing exactly what those ancient stargazers did. Along the way, Gracie sits on Hector the Hedgehog, tracks bats in the dark, sneezes at a moth and falls asleep in Peter's lap. The Mellow Submarine: The Rescued Seal Pup

Larry the Lobster wants to rush right over and carry it back to the water, but Captain Dave stops him and explains one of the most important rules on any Vancouver Island beach. Seal mothers often leave their pups to rest while they fish nearby, so the kindest thing to do is stay back, at least the length of a school bus, and never touch. Then a closer look through the binoculars reveals fishing line wrapped around the pup’s back flipper, and Larry makes the call to the Wildlife Recovery Centre. The pup, now named Rathtrevor, learns to catch herring on her own, and slips back into the Strait of Georgia. Peter & Gracie: Peter's First Swim Lesson

What if he sinks? What if water goes up his nose? Gracie, his miniature American Eskimo Dog, isn't worried one bit, and she proves it by stealing his towel and racing down the hallway with it like a very large, very fluffy fish. From the viewing gallery, Gracie presses her nose to the glass and cheers with muffled barks while instructor Miss Dana leads the Swim One class through kicking, blowing bubbles and paddling across the shallow end on a bright yellow noodle. With a little help from new friends Marcus and a girl in a starfish swim cap, Peter dips his face in the water and discovers it only tickles. Then Miss Dana quietly lets go, and Peter floats all on his own. He earns a shiny wave sticker, a celebratory hot chocolate in French Creek, and at bedtime he whispers to Gracie that being brave isn't about not being scared, it's about doing it anyway. The Mellow Submarine: The Thanksgiving Harvest

Thanksgiving is coming to French Creek Harbour, and Larry the Lobster has been cooking for a whole week. Cranberry chowder, roasted squash, fresh bread and blackberry crumble are ready for the big harbour feast aboard the Mellow Submarine. Then a radio call comes in from Elder Rose at Deep Bay. Last night’s big tide has piled driftwood, bull kelp and eelgrass against her family’s clam garden, and the clams underneath can’t get the fresh, oxygen-rich water they need. On the way to Deep Bay, Captain Dave explains how Coast Salish peoples built low rock walls along the low tide line long ago, creating flatter, wider beaches where clams could thrive. It isn’t fishing from the sea, he tells Larry. It’s farming with the sea. Working slowly with the submarine’s robotic arm, Larry helps Elder Rose clear the tangle without disturbing a single hand-placed stone, and together they harvest only what the feast needs. Peter & Gracie: The Great Garden Harvest

Gracie is, as always, the most enthusiastic helper in the garden, sniffing out tomatoes, catching green beans before they reach the basket and supervising every step. When Peter and his mum take a basket of fresh vegetables next door to Mrs. Alder, Peter discovers that giving away part of the harvest feels as good as picking the biggest pumpkin. The day ends with a harvest dinner made entirely from the backyard garden and a toast to the best garden helpers on Vancouver Island. The Mellow Submarine: The Craig Bay Caves

Captain Dave explains how thousands of years of wave action carved these tunnels out of soft, crumbling rock, and the pair explore the winding passages together, admiring barnacles, sea cucumbers and a shy octopus along the way. But when a flickering light catches Larry's eye, he slips through a side passage to take a closer look, and quickly discovers that one glowing cluster of plankton is not worth getting lost over. Alone in the dark and unable to find his way back, Larry has to remember Captain Dave's most important rule: stay calm, and wait to be found. Captain Dave, meanwhile, seeks out an unlikely guide, a ninety-three-year-old rockfish named Quillback who has called the Craig Bay caves home for longer than anyone can remember, and who knows every twist and turn by heart. Peter & Gracie: The Corn Maze Adventure

There are pumpkins piled high, hay bales stacked into towers, and a friendly scarecrow keeping watch by the gate. Along the way, they meet Farmer Sam, who challenges them to track down five hidden wooden animal markers, and a new friend named Mia, who joins the hunt with her dad. Between corn jokes, pumpkin patches, and the smell of kettle corn drifting through the rows, the group gets separated, and Peter and his mom find themselves turned around in the tall stalks with no clear way out. That's when Gracie's famous nose comes to the rescue. Sniffing out the scent of the kettle corn stand, she leads Peter and his mom straight back to the middle of the maze, where they find the last hidden marker, ring the big brass bell, and earn their Corn Maze Champion badges. The Mellow Submarine: Rescue at Lasqueti Island!

Shelly the Sea Turtle, piloting her own submarine named Pearl Dream, has found a young harbour seal pup tangled in a ghost trap, an old crab trap lost long ago that is still catching creatures on the sea floor. Together, the crews of the Mellow Submarine and Pearl Dream cross the Strait of Georgia toward Lasqueti Island to help. Along the way, Captain Dave shares what makes harbour seals so remarkable, and talks with Larry about the Coast Salish Guardian programs that watch over the Salish Sea. When they reach the tangled pup, it takes teamwork, to free him safely and reunite him with his mother.
