United Pilot Dan Hanley and 9/11 - The Real Story

Captain Dan Hanley is author of the book Grounded - Memoir of a 9/11 Pilot Whistleblower and was a pilot for United Airlines over several decades. His achieve-ment of obtaining airline pilot wings fulfilled a boyhood dream and was attained through training on small civilian planes and later during 10 years spent flying for the US Navy beginning during the Vietnam war era. He obtained a sterling reputation as a Naval aviator flying the multi engine P-3 Orion turboprop carrying out tracking and surveillance on Soviet Submarines in the Atlantic and in the Mediterranean. Despite being offered a Pentagon promotion, Dan opted instead to become a commercial airline pilot for United in 1978. However after 25 years flying for United, his dream career quickly became a nightmare for him in the wake of 9/11. Despite amassing over 20,000 hours flying aircraft that included the Boeing 737, 727, 757 767 and the Airbus 319 & 320 and in the Navy and flying hundreds of thousands of passengers safely over decades at United Airlines Dan Hanley lost his job as a pilot after denouncing serious airline safety issues that the "greed is good" era led to. These involved cost cutting measures that became downright dangerous for passengers and airline crews alike. This combined with the 9/11 attacks and Dan Hanley's decision to become a whistle-blower confronting glaring safety issues seriously undermined Dan’s career. His book again is Grounded - Memoir of a 9/11 Pilot Whistleblower Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/quorum-radio-episodes-wrmi--497924/support.

MIKE CODELLA Talks 9/11, Son of Sam and The Evil That Walked New York-complete interview

MIKE CODELL is a former NYPD Detective and Sargeant and author of the books: The Evil that Walked New York and Alphaville: New York 1988: Welcome to Heroin City. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Mike Codella walked the streets of the city he would one day dedicate his life to protecting. In 2001, Codella worked at the World Trade Center (Building 7). On September 11th he was on his way to work when he changed his route and headed toward WTC 1. Codella was one of those first responders who was running into the building as people were rushing out. He barely escaped death with the Tower came down.   Mike Codella began his police career in July of 1983, becoming a New York City police officer—and over the next two decades, he would plunge into the city’s darkest corners. Rising to Detective Sergeant, Mike served in some of the NYPD’s most elite and high-stakes units: the Drug Enforcement Administration, Secret Service Task Force, Special Frauds Squad, Operation 8, and the Missing Persons Squad.   Codella investigated missing children, homicides, sex crimes, and violent felonies, leaving his mark on cases that gripped the city and shocked the nation. From the chilling terror of the Son of Sam murders to the haunting disappearance of Etan Patz, and the arrest of Andre Rand, Mike navigated the shadows, unraveling mysteries that most feared to confront. He infiltrated citywide drug cartels, and endured injuries as a first responder during the September 11 attacks. In the aftermath, he was tasked with bringing order to the chaos of the New York City Morgue—a grim duty that tested every ounce of his resolve. His latest book again is The Evil that Walked New York.
