From 2016 onward Joe Rogan was inescapable in social media, often accompanied by the very tired “that’s out of context” or “he just interviews anybody” sort of excuses when Joe would let someone come spread truly outrageous nonsense. Now you don’t have to try to devote an entire part time job to understanding what Joe thinks and how his platform exists in our media ecosystem. I’ve enjoyed Michael Marshall since the first episode of Be Reasonable (Meyseyside Skeptics Society) all those years ago. Cecil provides a valuable American perspective for our cross-pond cohost and particularly from the midwest rather than Joe’s Austin-via-LA view of America. Digestible, empathetic, and not afraid to give the subject of the show his flowers when he does push back on an extraordinary claim.

As a long time skeptic, this is quality content and a relevant window into a highly influential podcast and source of misinformation in our culture.

The Know Rogan Experience is one of the most valuable podcast critiques out there, in large part because its subject, Joe Rogan’s podcast, has become a massive dangerous mouthpiece for some of the world’s most transparent grifters, falsehoods, and conspiracy peddlers, repeatedly amplifying misinformation under the guise of curiosity and open dialogue. The era of “my opinion is as important as your facts” requires this kind of counter programming as a form of balancing the scales back toward reality.

Having data to support a claim is key. Cecil and Marsh take the time to break down the wild going’s on the Joe Rogan show. I can’t wait for each episode.
