Why Black-Owned Businesses Cost More: What Customers Need to Know

#43 Why do Black-owned businesses cost more and why do customers question the price? In this episode, we're talking about Black-owned business pricing, the real cost of running a small business, and the complicated expectations around “support Black businesses.” Why are Black-owned brands criticized for charging what their products are actually worth while consumers often accept higher prices from large corporations and luxury brands? We're breaking down the pricing double standard, why independent businesses may need to charge more to survive, and why comparing a small business to a big-box retailer isn't always fair. We also look at what brands like Actively Black offer beyond the product itself, including quality, customer experience, mission, and community impact and why those factors matter when deciding whether something is “worth the price.” If you've ever questioned the price of a Black-owned product, wondered why supporting Black businesses can cost more, or you're a Black entrepreneur struggling to price your products without apologizing for the cost, this conversation is for you. 🎙️ I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note. 📲 Connect with me https://www.kerihenderson.com/links 📧 Subscribe to The Kickback With Keri Newsletter https://www.kerihenderson.com/newsletter Enjoying the podcast? What A 2-Month Podcast Break Taught Me About Building Slowly

What was supposed to be a 5-6 week pause, turned into a much needed two month break. In this bonus episode, I'm sharing why I took a two-month break from podcasting and what the break taught me about podcast consistency, creative burnout, and building slowly. As a creator building a podcast with a full-time job, I've had to rethink what consistency looks like for me. I also learned that taking a break doesn't necessarily mean losing momentum. Sometimes rest gives you the space to refocus, refine your work, and come back with more creativity. If you're balancing a side hustle with a full-time job or trying to stay consistent as a content creator, this episode is your reminder that you don't have to build at everyone else's pace. Building slowly is still building. 📲 Connect with me https://www.kerihenderson.com/links 📧 Subscribe to The Kickback With Keri Newsletter https://www.kerihenderson.com/newsletter Enjoying the podcast?
