    What Motivates AI, and What Can We Do to Teach Men to Abandon Toxic Masculinity?

We started off making some distinctions between AI as a tool and AI as a generative model. Then we got into a kind of philosophical debate as to what would even motivate AI if it ever became sentient. Both Ben and Dash are thoughtful men and we touched on the issue of how toxic masculinity has become in the US, and how we can move from anger to productive action. The topic of creating a support mechanism that would actually teach positive masculinity is something that needs further exploration. We mentioned how a lot of narratives get suppressed in order to maintain a sanitized version of a male centered ideology. I mentioned the movie “Sex Drive” which is one of those teen films bout an awkward man attempting to get involved with an attractive woman. I noted that I couldn’t think of too many films following that concept but with women in the leading role. Ben mentioned one and so did some people in the chat. I thought of some examples like “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” but the lead character undergoes a beauty transformation in that film. I thought of “Amelie” too but Audrey Tautou is glamorous throughout. Is there a gender reversal film with the same plot of “American Pie” where a group of girls pledge to lose their virginity by the end of high school? It feels like it would be challenging to make a farcical comedy with that plot. If one exists, please let me know. It occurs to me that I mainly consume the movies that make the top 100 box office list. So, there might be a large number of films with alternative viewpoints that simply never get any promotional boost. We need to recognize which films deserve more attention in that regard as well.     The Consultant Class, Going on the Attack, and Controlling the Message Before the Midterms

    Thanks for your support: 30% off 💙 40% off 💙 50% off 💙 60% off 💙 80% off I absolutely respect and admire Marlon Weems and Arturo Dominguez. I met Marlon because of a story he published on Medium. I nominated it for a Boost, and it became one of the featured stories of the platform. He’s got a background in finance and the story he wrote is a harrowing tale of how easy it is for corrupt entities to crush a business. I think it provides important context especially in this era where Republicans accuse everything of being “communism.” In actual fact, Republicans abuse the power of the government to exploit the innocent and enrich themselves—every time. I met Arturo Dominguez about the same time I met Marlon. I’ve been assisting him in building “The Antagonist” magazine on Medium. Arturo always sees right through the propaganda to the truth beneath (even if it’s buried beyond where most people are prepared to look). I’ve gotten a lot of direction from Arturo over the years, and he saved me from a full-on panic attack when Fox news ran a hit piece on me back in July. You have to forgive me for having a bit of a cold, my voice kept going out on me during this talk. We’re just a few weeks away from the midterms, and the Republicans are in such panic that they’re throwing everything at us. I think we’re getting to the point where their lawlessness will no longer be possible to hide. Yeah, I know they commit crimes in plain view every day—but there are things that even the Republicans don’t want to get out in the open (like the Epstein files). This slow death of the ideology of hatred is painful to live through, but the end is inevitable. They’re too incompetent to save themselves. Please subscribe to Marlon and Arturo!
