You lead everybody yet nobody really knows you

You lead everybody — and nobody really knows you. If you're the strong one everyone leans on, here's the loneliness nobody warns leaders about — and the One who knew your name before you ever led a single person.  In this talk I tell you about the last day of my first year teaching high school — the song I wrote for every class, the empty room after the last bell, and what I found sitting on my desk in the corner. Then I'll show you the loneliest leader in the whole Bible, and the quiet voice that came for him when the crowd was gone.  If you're a pastor, a ministry leader, a teacher, a parent, or just the person everybody counts on and nobody really sees — this one is for you. TIMESTAMPS AND KEY MOMENTS 0:00 - The last day of school (a song for every kid) 1:30 - The room empties out — the corner desk 2:30 - When being needed isn't the same as being known 3:30 - You turn into a porch light (the leader's trap) 5:00 - Carrying two rooms at once — quiet burnout 6:30 - Known before you were ever needed 7:30 - Elijah: the loneliest leader in the Bible 9:00 - Not the fire — the whisper ("He came for Elijah") 10:00 - Moses, David, and the friends who fell asleep 10:45 - The river: the Father's voice before the work 11:30 - Set the light down and let yourself be known FULL DESCRIPTION & HIGHLIGHTS This video is for the leader who feels unseen — here's what I want you to walk away with: Why being needed and being known are not the same thing The "porch light" trap every leader falls into What God actually did for Elijah when he wanted to die The one voice that loved you before you were any use to anyone 💡 KNOWN BEFORE YOU WERE NEEDED — 4 THINGS EVERY LONELY LEADER NEEDS TO HEAR 1. Being needed feels like being loved — right up until the room empties, and then you find out they're not the same thing. 2. A porch light only shines one way: out. It lights up every face on the path and never gets to see its own. That's what leadership can do to you. 3. When Elijah said "I'm the only one left," God didn't answer with more fire. He answered with a whisper, fed him by hand, and told him 7,000 others were still standing with him. You were never as alone as you felt. 4. At the river, the Father said "I love Him, I'm pleased with Him" before Jesus had preached, healed, or done a single thing. The voice came first. You didn't earn it — that's the whole point. The fire is for the crowd. The whisper is for you. - Pastors and ministry leaders carrying weight nobody sees - Teachers and coaches who pour out all day and go home empty - Parents who feel invisible even when they're needed most - Christian leaders walking through burnout or quiet loneliness - Anyone grieving a "well done" they never got to hear

Why God won't promote fake Christian leaders

Are you a Christian leader who feels exhausted even when the work isn't that hard? That's not burnout. That's the performance trap — and it's silently killing leaders from the inside out.  In this video I break down what the performance trap actually is, why false identity forms in ministry, and how leaders like Moses, Paul, and Peter all had to be stripped of it before God could actually use them.  If you're a pastor, ministry leader, Christian business owner, or parent leading from a role rather than your real self — this is for you. TIMESTAMPS AND KEY MOMENTS 0:00 - The performance trap and why it's different from burnout 1:20 - What false identity actually is (and what it isn't) 2:45 - The 3 sources: fear, roles, and applause 4:30 - How applause feeds the wrong version of you 6:00 - The 4 real costs of leading from a false identity 8:15 - Moses, Paul, and Peter — the biblical stripping pattern 10:40 - What leading from your true identity actually looks like 12:00 - The one question to ask yourself before you close this video FULL DESCRIPTION & HIGHLIGHTS 📩 WANT TO GO DEEPER? Email me directly: rob@robpene.com I work with Christian leaders who are tired of performing and ready to lead from who God actually made them to be. Reply with "TRAP" and tell me where you're at. Real conversation, not a funnel Built for leaders who feel the gap Rob responds personally 💡 THE PERFORMANCE TRAP — 4 COSTS CHRISTIAN LEADERS PAY 1. Your decisions warp — you say yes from your platform, not from God 2. Your energy drains — performing is exhausting in a way sleep can't fix 3. Your relationships flatten — people talk to your role, not to you 4. You become incongruent with the desires of your own heart • Pastors who feel like an imposter in rooms where they should feel free • Christian business owners who built something that looks right but feels wrong • Ministry leaders exhausted by a version of themselves they didn't choose • Parents leading their family from a role instead of from the real them • Anyone who's heard "that was anointed" but felt the disconnect inside 📩 Email: rob@robpene.com

The youth ministry vision every pastor is missing

What if the vision for youth ministry you're chasing is actually too complicated? In this video, I break down the 5 pillars every youth pastor needs to disciple teens well — and 3 of them are already happening if you're doing ministry right. I share the exact framework I use with my own kids and any youth group I'm asked to speak into. You'll learn the non-negotiable foundation, the practical apprenticeship piece most pastors skip, and how to push your teens past the four walls of the church and into the community. If you're a youth pastor, ministry leader, church staff member, or parent trying to disciple your own kids — this is for you. Worship and prayer — the non-negotiable foundation every youth ministry must be rooted in. 2. Scripture and academia — teaching teens to decipher the Bible and apply it to their internal world and the world at large. 3. Community engagement — sending youth outside the four walls of the church to serve at farmers markets, nursing homes, chambers of commerce, and rotary clubs. 4. Apprenticeship and mentorship — connecting teens to older adults with proven skill sets who can teach the ropes and build their portfolio. 5. Personal growth — knowing yourself in light of your family, your DNA, your spiritual gifts, and your legacy. Three of these five pillars are evergreen and happen continuously — worship, scripture, and personal growth. The other two slide in as part of the youth's seasonal growth journey. Youth pastors building or refreshing their ministry vision Ministry leaders looking for a clear discipleship framework Church staff designing a year-long youth program Christian parents who want to disciple their own kids at home Senior pastors mentoring their youth ministry team

How do you find your calling without quitting your job? You don't leave the field — you let it train you.  The work that pays you isn't the detour. It's the training ground. In this video I show you how to find your calling without walking away from the job that pays your bills. You'll learn why so many people feel stuck at work while the gift they were made for sits quiet inside them — and why your 9-to-5 might be your season of preparation, not your delay.  If you feel stuck at work, you're a teacher who feels like you should be preaching, a builder stuck behind a desk, or anyone waiting on the right title to finally start living your calling — this is for you. ================================================== TIMESTAMPS AND KEY MOMENTS ================================================== 0:00 - The split: when the realest part of you feels clocked out 0:55 - How to find your calling without quitting your job 1:40 - Why calling is about who you are, not what you do 2:40 - What believing "my real life starts later" is costing you 3:40 - Two people, one ache: the desk and the garbage truck 4:40 - The light was never in the job — it's in the person 5:40 - David: anointed king, then sent back to the sheep 6:50 - The lion, the bear, and the field nobody was watching 7:50 - Moses, the disciples, even Jesus: God never skips the field 8:40 - "You are the light of the world" — what it really means 9:40 - The light doesn't get laid off 10:20 - The only question that matters ================================================== FULL DESCRIPTION & HIGHLIGHTS ================================================== Here's what this video will do for you: Help you find your calling without quitting the job you already have Stop you from clocking out of your own life while you wait for the "real" thing Show you the one part of your calling no layoff can ever touch Teach you to let your light shine right where you already are 💡 HOW TO FIND YOUR CALLING WITHOUT QUITTING YOUR JOB 1. Stop waiting to arrive somewhere — your calling is the person walking into the place, not the place itself. 2. See your job as paid training, not the detour before the calling. 3. Build character where nobody's watching — patience, courage, and steadiness travel with you to any desk or route. 4. Remember the function expires but the character doesn't — a job can end tomorrow; who you are keeps shining. 5. Let your light shine right where you are — the parking lot, the group chat, the client call, the truck route. The bottom line: you don't find your calling by quitting your job — you find it by letting the job train the person God already called. - People who feel stuck at work but can't — or shouldn't — quit right now - Christians trying to find their calling while still paying the bills - Pastors, teachers, and leaders waiting on a stage to start their real work - Creatives and builders clocking into client work while their gift sits quiet - Anyone in a long season of preparation who feels unseen and unappreciated

The People-Pleasing Pattern That Always Ends In Burnout

People pleasing doesn't keep everyone happy — it keeps YOU awake at 3AM. The yes you should've said no to becomes an open loop that won't let you sleep.  In this episode I break down why people pleasing always ends in burnout — and the one lie underneath every yes that makes it almost impossible to say no.  You'll see how the fear of man traps you, what King Saul and the apostle Paul reveal about it, and how to close your open loops so you can finally rest. If you're a leader, a creator, a helper, or anyone tired of being everyone's "yes" — this one is for you. ================================================== TIMESTAMPS AND KEY MOMENTS ================================================== 0:00 - The 3AM Bed Every People-Pleaser Knows 1:10 - Every Yes Is An Open Loop 2:30 - How Many Loops Did You Leave Open Today? 3:20 - Why People Pleasing Looks Like Talent, Not Weakness 4:45 - The Lie Hiding Under Every Yes ("I'm The Reason") 6:15 - It Follows You Home: The Yes You Break To Yourself 7:30 - What Holds You When You Run Out Of Capacity 8:45 - King Saul, Paul, And The Fear Of Man 10:00 - A No Isn't A Failure: How To Say No Clean 11:15 - Close The Loop Tonight ================================================== FULL DESCRIPTION & HIGHLIGHTS ================================================== Why your worth was never tied to what you produce How to say no without guilt or a burned bridge What Scripture says about the fear of man Real talk on rest, calling, and identity in Christ 💡 WHY PEOPLE PLEASING ALWAYS ENDS IN BURNOUT 1. Every yes is a loop — you open it when you say "I got you," and you only close it when you actually finish. 2. Open loops, not people or projects, are what keep you awake at 3AM. 3. People pleasing disguises itself as talent and generosity, so it never feels like weakness. 4. The root lie is "I'm the reason it works" — and that lie makes you say yes to things you already know you can't carry. 5. A no doesn't burn the bridge. A broken yes does. The way out isn't working harder — it's knowing you were loved before you were ever useful, so your no can finally come out clean. - People-pleasers who can't say no even when they're maxed out - Christian leaders and pastors fighting the fear of man - Entrepreneurs and creators who over-commit and burn out - High-achievers whose worth got tied to what they produce - Anyone lying awake at 3AM over a yes they regret I'm Faleulu Ropati. Is It God or Just You? The 5-Filter Test

How do you know if God is really speaking to you, or if you just want something bad enough? In this episode, I break down 5 filters I use to test what I'm hearing before I step out and say "God told me." THE 5 FILTERS 1. Scripture God won't lead you somewhere that contradicts His Word. Without that anchor, you'll just find what you're already looking for. 2. The Body of Christ Talk to people who know God, know the Bible, and know you. Look for counsel, not permission. 3. Internal Prompting The Holy Spirit does convict and nudge. But a strong feeling isn't proof. Sometimes it's just what we want. 4. Circumstances Watch the open and closed doors. A closed door isn't always a failure. A lot of times it's God redirecting you. 5. Outside Counsel Get input from mature people outside your circle who don't have a stake in how it turns out. TIMESTAMPS 0:00 Hearing God's voice vs. fooling yourself 0:45 The problem with saying "God told me" 1:30 LA or Europe? The decision that changed my life 3:00 Three people, one message 4:15 Filter 1: Scripture 5:30 Filter 2: The Body of Christ 6:45 Filter 3: Internal prompting 8:15 Filter 4: Circumstances 9:45 Jonah and closed doors 10:30 Filter 5: Outside counsel 11:30 Broken lenses: anger, fear, ambition, desperation 12:30 "Should I?" vs. "Can I?" 13:45 Stop saying "God told me." Start asking "God, show me." THE TAKEAWAY There's no magic formula. Discernment is testing what you think you're hearing from a few different angles before you act on it.

From Pro Boxer to $5.4M Empire: How Lexson Mathieu Cashed Out at 26

In this episode of Nice to Meet You for a Reason, Rob Pene sits down with Lexson Mathieu — former undefeated pro boxer, NABF champion, and serial acquisitions entrepreneur who built and sold a multi-million-dollar trucking empire before turning 27. Lexson takes us through the wild arc of his last few years: leaving Canada during COVID with nothing but a backpack, putting his entire net worth into crypto to escape financial restrictions, making $50,000 in his first week as a crypto investor, and then walking away from speculation to buy real businesses. You'll hear the unfiltered story of how he made 10,000 cold calls to land his first deal, why his first acquisition took a year and a half (and what he had to fix to close), and how he eventually closed five acquisitions in 18 months — including the "sell-lease-back" maneuver that pulled $300K out of a deal in two weeks. This is a masterclass in M&A for anyone curious about how people actually buy businesses without their own money, build banking relationships from scratch, and structure deals where the asset finances itself. We also get into the deeper stuff: why money stopped being the goal, how faith reshaped his vision, and his next move — building a roll-up empire in Africa while planting "a thousand seeds" through Bible study. What You'll Learn: Why Lexson left pro boxing at the top of his careerHow he used crypto as a financial escape hatch during COVIDThe exact selling and negotiation framework that unlocked his first dealHow he financed a $5.4M acquisition with two banks and no personal incomeThe "sell-lease-back" strategy that pulls cash out of acquired assetsWhy he gave away 49% equity — and what he'd do differently nowWhy his next empire is being built in Africa, not North AmericaThe role faith plays in his definition of long-term successRecommended Reading from Lexson: Your First Hundred Million by Dan PeñaRobert Kiyosaki's books on assets vs. liabilitiesConnect with Lexson: Instagram: @LexsonMathieu (DM him directly to join his weekly Bible study) https://eliteacademics.net
