Hi, I’m in my mid-forties and riding the perimenopause rollercoaster. I also am 7 years into my sugar addiction recovery and have struggled so much this past year because of all my perimenopause symptoms. This podcast will be 30 minutes snapshots of my life as a sugar addict trying to manage perimenopause. Oh and working full-time and parenting 2 kids and juggling all of the things! I hope to inspire other women, make you laugh or at least make you feel less alone on this crazy journey.

    19 - 6 Steps to Sanity in Perimenopause

    In today's episode I take all that I have learned from my interviews and experience with perimenopause so far and condense it into 6 steps that you can take to start feeling better now. Chicken Wing Recipe: 2 pounds chicken wings and drumettes1 tablespoon baking powder1 teaspoon garlic powder1 teaspoon onion powder1/2 teaspoon seasoning saltsalt and pepper, to taste Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Mix all ingredients in a small bowl. Pat dry the chicken wings and toss around in the bowl to ensure that they are evenly covered in seasoning. Arrange the chicken wings on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the oven at 425 degrees for 50 minutes flipping the wings over halfway through baking. Dr Hart Kress’ passion lies in transforming access to high-quality care for women in midlife and menopause. She is the CEO and owner of a specialized telemedicine practice focused on comprehensive midlife and menopause care. She is an active member of National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH), serves on the Advocacy Committee and the conference planning committee for the joint NPWH and International Society for the Study of Sexual Health in Women virtual course.  Dr Hart Kress has co-authored several key resources, including the NPWH’s Scope of Practice and Health and Healthcare of Midlife Women position statements.     17 - Mental Health Impact of Perimenopause with Dr. Julie Rashkis

    In today's episode I interview Dr. Julie Rashkis about mental health and perimenopause. We talk about the cognitive and mood issues that are common during this time and what you can do if you are struggling. Dr. Julie Rashkis is a clinical psychologist with nearly two decades of experience supporting adults through pivotal life transitions.  She is licensed to practice telehealth in California, Wisconsin and 42 additional states through PsyPact.   She is the founder of Therapy for Midlife, a teletherapy practice where she works with individuals and couples to address the emotional and relational challenges of midlife, including the often-overlooked impact perimenopause has on mental health.  She graduated with honors from University of California, Davis and earned her Doctor of Psychology degree from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California.  Her early clinical training included a doctoral internship at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where she worked with patients recovering from traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.  That formative experience sparked a lasting interest in the intersection of mental and physical health. For over a decade, she worked in psychiatric, women's health, emergency and genetics departments addressing the mental health concerns of individuals and couples.  There, she regularly collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to support patients and families, further shaping her whole-person approach to care. Today, Dr. Rashkis brings that integrated perspective to patients in her private practice as well as acting as a consultant and clinical team member for health care organizations working to expand access to behavioral health services .
