Do you find yourself frequently asking, “What is wrong with these people?”Every episode of Snarky will introduce you to people who lack common sense or decorum or kindness, often all three. Snarky is a decent story teller who usually gives good advice delivered with equal measures humor & outrage.
Why 3 stars? I have never once heard Snarky say, “Let it go,” or ask, “Why do you care so much?” That advice would be off brand for Snarky but some letter writers need it desperately. But if you think tacky wedding invitations or lousy food at baby showers are worthy of analysis & response this is the show for you.
That said, my husband and I usually enjoy this Southern flavored perk into the angst of affluent suburbia. My enjoyment wanes when the snark turns nasty as it did on episode 116. A 51 year old women wrote complaining that a medical professional was pushing alternative paths to sexual satisfaction because the woman’s 75 year husband was no longer able to “perform in the bedroom”. Snark was deployed about the age gap.Snarky even suggested the woman was waiting for her husband’s death. Sadly, the only advice given was on how to shut down the medical provider. The poor husband’s perspective was never considered. The wife who was, “glad the door is closed”, because she had been “pretending” for years needed a kick in her tight 🫏.
For many physical intimacy is an important part of life. This poor man’s physical challenges and possible sense of shame, rejection and loneliness in the last season of life, deserved compassion. Sherry should have dropped the snark and nudged the writer toward reflection on what it means to be a loving partner and the value of honesty in a marriage.
We all like to laugh at ridiculous people but laughter without kindness leaves a nasty taste in my mouth.
