From Drive to Survive to Silverstone: How a High Schooler Became an F1 Fan

What does the next generation of Formula 1 fans actually look like? Meet Elizabeth, a high schooler who got hooked on F1 through Drive to Survive, social media edits and a love of fast cars. What started with watching clips and talking F1 with her friends turned into an actual trip to Silverstone with her mom, Jane, for the British Grand Prix. In this special mother-daughter episode of Reading the Grid, we talk to Elizabeth about what pulled her into Formula 1, how F1 fits into her world at school, and why she and her friends have even created their own F1 club. Then we hear from Jane, who went from a NASCAR background and knowing very little about F1 to experiencing her first Grand Prix at Silverstone. They take us inside their first F1 race weekend, from the festival atmosphere and the crowds to F2, F1 Academy and the realities of attending a Grand Prix. Elizabeth also shares why F1 Academy caught her attention and what she thinks about the possibility of seeing a woman eventually race in Formula 1. This is more than a story about a mother and daughter taking a trip to a race. It's a look at how a new generation is discovering Formula 1, building its own fan communities and changing what the future of the sport looks like, one Drive to Survive clip, Instagram edit and race weekend at a time. If you've ever wondered who the next generation of F1 fans is, this episode is for you. #Formula1 #F1 #DriveToSurvive #F1Fans #F1Podcast #Silverstone #BritishGP #F1Academy #WomenInF1 #F1Women #NewF1Fans #ReadingTheGrid #F1Community #MotherDaughter #Formula1Fans

This week we're breaking down Lando Norris' first win of the season, Oscar Piastri's nightmare race, Max Verstappen's remarkable recovery, Ferrari's latest strategy questions, Lewis Hamilton's growing penalty frustration, and why Carlos Sainz found himself at the center of one of the weekend's biggest controversies. Then we head into the biggest story of all. Formula 1 is officially in summer break, but Silly Season is just getting started. With 17 driver contracts expiring, Max Verstappen's future still dominating headlines, and Zandvoort hosting its final Formula 1 race after the break, the biggest battles may happen off the track before the lights go out again.
