This podcast features artists that have participated in AMP's Live Session program, as well as episode from staff about contemporary music subjects and preparing for a live session.

    Armada Lodge - Giving songs new context and making a live session with a storyline

    Armada Lodge is a band that works hard to get to the next level of their careers instead of waiting for it to come to them. From unique ways of practicing and locking in their parts, making their records themselves, and even taking over management responsibilities to learn how to get things right (and never letting rejection get them down). We also chat about how we got to a full on story line for their session and how they used that as an opportunity to explore the meaning and vibe of their own songs even further. This was a fun chat from a very creative and dedicated group!

    This episode we get to chat with Almost Made The Mixtape, a three piece pop-punk powerhouse. We start at the beginning, how they got their name (which came years before the band), what it's like being a 3 piece, and what advantages that brings to their stage show. They give us a look into their stage show planning, playing with in ears, and also their songwriting process. This is a great chat about all things pop punk and modern music making with a great set of guys!

    This episode we're joined by the fantastically talented Former Critics! We get into the details about the bands name, how they got started as a band, the evolution of their members, and how their current sound came together. We get an insight into how a band of this size gets out on the road touring, and what that's like, and of course we chat about the very unique design choices behind their AMP Session's aesthetic choices and songs. It's such a fun episode with such a friendly group!

    York Street Thought Process - The art of musical improvisation and the journey of recording

    This episode we're joined by the folk duo, York Street Thought Process from St. Marys, Ontario. Both Jaron and Rachel are accomplished musicians in their own right, and together they create something very special, bringing both great story telling in their songwriting, interesting dynamics and musicianship to their music, and a creative journey and experience to their live show. In this episode, we talk about everything from their journey of their recordings (of which they do mostly all themselves) to their songwriting, both for this project as well as their own projects, as well as how they keep pushing themselves and each other in their creativity. It's a great episode with lots of laughs along the way! And yes, we do find out what the band name actually means!

    Max Smith - How Country Grew from Rock Roots, and the Approach of great live show

    This episode we talk to Max Smith, an up and coming country aritst from St. Mary's, Ontario. We chat about how Max grew up around music (including very rock minded brothers) and how he found his voice in country. We also talk to him and Adam Jordan the approach to writing, how things go from acoustic to full band live, and what it's been like bringing that to some big stages. All around a great episode with many laughs!

    Thot Squad - Going viral to building a dedicated community around being their most authentic self

    On this episode of AMP Radio, we have an incredibly in-depth chat with Thot Squad. With their intense theatre and acting background, Thot Squad brings energy to their performances and music, but in the most authentic way possible. We talk about their growing up, getting into music, and how the Thot Squad project exploded from a one-hit-wonder attempt into the dedicated community that it is today. We get really real about musical inspiration, the past and its effect on where things are today, and of course a little reflection on the AMP Live Session. Lighthearted but real, this is one heck of an authentic conversation with an artist who doesn't know how to be anything but themselves.

    Taylor Tatum - Performing as her most authentic self and enjoying the journey

    Taylor Tatum joins us on AMP Radio to chat about her musical journey and having always been surrounded by music her whole life, and how that inspires her with her own music and the vast influences that find there way into her sound. We talk about her performances and how she feels when performing, plus the performance scene in Flint and how it's been growing with so many great artists. She has great advice for other artists on finding their sound, look and feel for themselves and being as authentic as you can. It's a great chat and we can't wait to see her big upcoming plans come to life!
