    Nevertheless, Has Two Sides

    What happens when what you "see" starts challenging what God "said"? While studying Deuteronomy 1, I noticed something about the children of Israel that made me stop: they had a, nevertheless. God told them the land was good. He told them He had given it to them. He told them to go and possess it. Nevertheless… there were giants. And suddenly, what they saw became greater in their minds than what God had spoken. But what if they had simply moved their nevertheless? There are giants… nevertheless, God said the land is ours. In this week's episode of The Spark, we're talking about how nevertheless has two sides—and depending on where you place it, it can become the language of either your fear or your faith. We'll also talk about how fear can operate like a shadow. A shadow can appear larger than the actual object, but here's the thing: you cannot have a shadow without light. The presence of the shadow doesn't mean the Light has disappeared. Sometimes we need to remember the victories God has given us. But sometimes we also need to remember the places where we allowed fear to lead us before—not to condemn ourselves, but so we can choose differently when we're standing in front of another giant. Maybe the situation is real. Maybe the loss is real. Maybe the uncertainty is real. Maybe you don't understand God's method.     I Have a Confession

    What happens when God brings you into a new season, but you don't really know how to operate there? In this week's episode of The Spark, Sandra makes a confession: I don't really know how to be in this space of my life. After God told her it was time to go, so much of what was familiar began to change. The position changed. The environment changed. The responsibilities changed. And when the constant doing became quiet, God began revealing something deeper—somewhere along the way, it became easy to recognize His presence through working, serving, being needed, and being productive. But what happens when God isn't asking you to do more? What happens when He's asking you to simply be with Him? While studying Deuteronomy 4 and God's warning to Israel about creating carved images, Sandra was confronted with a personal question: Have I created an image of what God's presence is supposed to look like based on how He moved in my previous season? In this deeply personal episode, we'll talk about the idols that don't always look like idols—productivity, position, people's approval, being needed, and even the familiar ways we've experienced God before. We'll also talk about the distractions we sometimes reach for when life gets too quiet and God begins asking us to sit with the things busyness helped us avoid. And through it all, we're discovering something beautiful: love for free. The kind of love you don't have to perform for.The kind of love you don't have to earn.The kind of love that reminds you that before you accomplish another thing, you are already His.     Even In This....

    What do you do when you have prayed, believed, hoped, and still find yourself standing in a place you never wanted to be? In this deeply personal episode of The Spark Podcast, I share what God taught me while walking through one of the hardest seasons of my life: His peace is not limited by our circumstances. At my cousin Sean’s bedside, I prayed for healing, restoration, strength, and a different report. And even while everything around me felt painful and uncertain, God reminded me of something I will never forget: “I am here.” That is the heart of this episode. In this week's episode of The Spark, we're slowing down to discover something many of us overlook in the middle of disappointment: God's presence. Sometimes we spend so much energy asking God to remove the valley that we miss the fact that He has already stepped into it with us. In this deeply personal episode, Sandra shares how, in the middle of carrying heartbreaking news about a loved one, the Holy Spirit gently whispered, "I'm here." Those two words became an anchor, reminding her that peace isn't found in having all the answers. Peace is found in knowing that God is present, even when life feels uncertain. We'll talk about why peace isn't the absence of bad news, but the evidence of God's presence in the middle of it. We'll be reminded that we don't have to carry tomorrow because God gives us grace for today. In this episode, Sandra shares a deeply personal moment of wrestling with fear and finding unexpected hope in Ezra 3. Through the story of Israel rebuilding the altar while still afraid, we're reminded that God never asked us to wait until the fear was gone before we worshipped.
