A Spooky Script: AI-Generated Mischief and Mysteries

Bailey and Raquel host The Whole Shebang podcast episode 48 and, after forgetting to find campfire horror stories, use AI/ChatGPT prompts to generate spooky stories starring themselves as ditzy, very bad ghost investigators plus a sarcastic talking dog. They read and riff on multiple escalating horror-comedy outputs: a haunted cabin with a dead owner, shadow figures, a demon-like entity, and the dog’s eventual name (Barnaby) and backstory; the AI unexpectedly turns it into a romance between Raquel and Bailey, then a haunted castle investigation dominated by an argument about poisonous mushrooms; and a breakup plot where Raquel summons a demon, leading to reconciliation, Barnaby’s demon “father,” and a wedding where Bailey arrives in a chicken costume. They conclude AI can be fun for brainstorming and comedy but fails at pacing, consistency, and scene setting, and warn not to use it to write real stories due to word-vomit structure and repetitive AI phrasing. Education Journeys: Part Two

On The Whole Shebang podcast episode 44 (part two of an education series), hosts Bailey and Raquel interview Vicky and Raquel’s brother Griffin about their education journeys, careers, and advice. Vicky describes starting at Lakehead University for social work, switching to Confederation College for an advanced diploma in interactive media development, then returning to university for a history undergrad and entering teacher’s education; she now supplies in the Thunder Bay area and uses media/graphic skills to build lesson plans, while also holding certifications like safe food handling, CPR, lifeguarding, and PADI Mermaid. She discusses college vs university pressure, realistic job expectations, networking, attitude, and career growth. Griffin explains completing a two-year heavy equipment technician diploma at Northern College, becoming a painter, recommending apprenticeships and residential painting to learn quality, and says college wasn’t financially worth it for heavy equipment work. Education Journeys: Two Sides of the Spectrum

Bailey and Raquel introduce a two-part Whole Shebang podcast series on education journeys, comparing their “polar opposite” paths before interviewing guests. Bailey finished Grade 12, was accepted to culinary school and university for psychology/philosophy, attended university for about a month during COVID, then left to run her dog grooming business; she discusses learning style, possible grooming-related certifications, and advises new groomers to keep learning and consider training at PetSmart. Raquel outlines her long academic route from an Associate of Arts, BA in Ancient Mediterranean Studies with anthropology and museum studies, then a master’s and ongoing PhD in Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations; she warns museum/academia jobs are scarce and stresses transferable skills. They debate university vs college pressure, applied vs academic streaming, and whether their choices were worth it. Guest Judy describes starting registered nursing at Lakehead, switching to practical nursing at Confederation College, preferring hands-on clinical learning, recommending college for support and fit, and working in home care nursing. Exploring Museum History: Colonialism, Archaeology, and Cultural Looting

In episode 42 of The Whole Shebang podcast, Raquel gives a brief museum history and public history overview, explaining how museums grew from colonial-era “cabinets of curiosity” filled with taxidermy, minerals, art, ethnographic objects, and mythical “specimens,” and how wealthy collectors led to public institutions like the British Museum. She connects early collecting to the origins of archaeology in Egypt and Mesopotamia, including Victorian mummy unwrapping parties and the British Museum–funded excavations of Leonard Woolley at Ur, alongside Howard Carter’s Tutankhamun discovery. The episode also covers Canadian museum studies experiences at UBC’s Museum of Anthropology, Indigenous heritage, language revitalization via Nuuchah-nulth radio, and BC treaty history. They discuss cultural heritage crime, looting, museum thefts (Louvre, British Museum), provenance research, the Hudson’s Bay charter auction, and repatriation debates (e.g., Parthenon/Elgin Marbles). Making Waves: Mermaid Viktoria's Adventures in Aquatic Magic and Conservation

In Whole Shebang Podcast episode 41 hosts Bailey and Raquel talk with Mermaid Viktoria about her 10-year mermaid journey, what being a mermaid means as a lifestyle, and how mermaids connect to water conservation, environmental education, and protecting local waterways like Lake Superior and area rivers. Viktoria explains pop-culture confusion between mermaids and sirens, references mythology (including Triton), and discusses historic “mermaid” sightings like manatees and unicorn-related myths such as narwhal horns. The group shares favourite mermaid movies (Aquamarine, The Little Mermaid), mermaid book recommendations (including the traumatic Lost Voices trilogy, Jennifer Donnelly’s series, and the lighter Forgive My Fins). Viktoria describes teaching swim lessons and specialized mermaid lessons, promoting brands like Fin Fun and Fin Folk, mermaid journaling, beach cleanups, and eco topics like sunscreen impacts. She recounts a memorable mermaid birthday party at McKenzie Falls and how creating “magic” becomes lasting core memories.
