FIRST Ever Brit to Fight in BRUTAL Ancient Martial Art... | Luke Leyland

Luke Leyland joins us to tell the unbelievable story of how a bloke from Birkenhead ended up stepping into the world of Dambe, one of Nigeria’s most brutal and historic combat sports. From first discovering it and thinking he was watching a remake of Bloodsport, to learning the rules, taking on a fighter name, and becoming what he describes as the first white Westerner to compete, Luke explains exactly what Dambe is, how the fighters use the wrapped “spear” hand, what it feels like to get hit with it, and why he wanted to test himself against men he openly describes as killers. He also breaks down the fight itself, the atmosphere around it, and what it was really like travelling through Nigeria and Katsina while taking on a challenge that very few people would even consider. The conversation goes far beyond Dambe. Luke tells stories about guns being fired, the realities of travelling through dangerous parts of Nigeria, and the strange situations he found himself in while filming the documentary. We also get into his next obsession: medieval combat, including what it is like to fight in armour and take heavy blows, before finishing with his next wish to compete in a bizarre fighting tradition in Peru. This is a conversation about fear, violence, courage, culture, and what happens when someone deliberately puts themselves in extreme situations just to find out what they are capable of.👉 You can FIND Luke's pages here:Instagram - lukeleyland1🚀 Follow Truth Temple Podcast for more expert insights & raw conversations:📸 Instagram: @truthtemplepodcast🎵 TikTok: @truthtemplepodcast🎧 Spotify: Truth Temple Podcast🍏 Apple Podcasts: Truth Temple Podcast👍 Don’t forget to Like, Comment & Subscribe if you enjoyed this episode — it really helps us grow!
