Oil in Your Lamp? Why Faith Can’t Be Borrowed

Are you ready for eternity? In this video, Amanda Bartley dives into one of Jesus’ most powerful parables—the story of the Ten Bridesmaids. It’s not just a nice Sunday school lesson… it’s a wake-up call. Five were ready. Five were not. What made the difference? The oil. But it’s more than just oil—it’s what it represents: our personal faith, our daily walk with God, the time we spend with Him when no one’s watching. You can’t borrow someone else’s relationship with God. You can’t borrow their faith. This parable is a reminder that our spiritual readiness is on us. It’s not about predicting when Jesus will come back—it’s about living like He could come back today. So… is your lamp full? Is it burning bright? Stick around, because we’re unpacking what it really means to live in expectation, with hope that fuels endurance, shapes who we are, and moves us to action. Let’s get into it. Chapters 0:00 - 9:00: The Parable of the Ten Bridesmaids Introduction and explanation of the parable of the ten bridesmaids from Matthew 25. 9:00 - 18:00: Hope as Preparation Exploring how eternal hope prepares us for Christ's return and fuels our endurance. 18:00 - 27:00: Hope in Action Examining how eternal hope inspires action and shapes our daily lives. 27:00 - 36:00: Living with Unshakable Hope Concluding thoughts on living with unshakable hope and staying prepared for Christ's return. Primary Keywords: Parable of the Ten Bridesmaids Jesus' return Spiritual readiness End times parables Faith and preparation Long-tail Keywords: What does the oil represent in the parable of the ten virgins?
