Your Mindset Is Shaping Your Life - Jon Gordon, Pastor Joby Martin & Denny Thompson

Pastor Joby Martin and Denny Thompson sit down with 7x New York Times bestselling author Jon Gordon on this week's episode of Built 4 More. Jon Gordon didn't set out to become a bestselling author. He set out to survive. After losing his job, taking a second mortgage on his home, and maxing out $20,000 in credit cards to open a Moe's Southwest Grill in Jacksonville, Florida, he was crumbling from the inside out. What followed was one of the most unlikely faith journeys you'll ever hear. A new ager and Buddhist meditator who cried out to God in desperation, saw a literal roadside sign that said "Jesus is the Answer," and had a Buddhist energy healer accidentally explain the gospel to him in a way that finally made everything click. Jon opens up about the season where he was failing as a husband and father and what happened when he finally surrendered that to Jesus. He talks about the walk of gratitude that started his transformation, how his faith completely rebuilt his marriage, his family, and his calling, and why he considers God the author of every book he has ever written. The conversation goes deep on leadership and culture too. Jon shares what happened when he spent six hours with Jaguars head coach Liam Coen building the culture that fueled Jacksonville's turnaround this season, why the best leaders in the world never stop taking notes, and the one mindset shift that separates leaders who perform under pressure from those who don't.

Devin shares what it was like navigating the emotional roller coaster of free agency, leaving the Jacksonville Jaguars after four seasons, and stepping into a new chapter of his career in the NFL. They discuss the pressure that comes with professional sports, the highs and lows of competing at the highest level, and how Devin learned to anchor his identity in Christ rather than in football or performance. The conversation dives into Devin’s journey from college football at University of Utah to becoming a first round NFL draft pick and one of the top linebackers in the league. Devin explains the mindset required to play linebacker in the NFL, the discipline and preparation that separate great players from good ones, and how film study, nutrition, consistency, and daily habits shape success on and off the field. He also shares the story of how injuries and adversity early in his career pushed him to deepen his relationship with Jesus and ultimately changed the way he views competition, leadership, and life. Throughout the episode, the conversation turns to what it truly means to live with purpose, how faith brings clarity and freedom from the opinions of others, and why understanding God’s approval allows you to play and live with confidence. Your Sin Doesn’t Define You - Joshua Broome, Pastor Joby Martin & Denny Thompson

Pastor Joby Martin and Denny Thompson sit down with Joshua Broome for a conversation about forgiveness identity and what it actually means to be free from your past. Joshua shares how growing up without a relationship with his father led him on a lifelong pursuit of affirmation acceptance and approval. That pursuit slowly shaped the decisions he made and the direction his life took as he chased performance success and validation in an effort to feel like he was enough. Over time what began as a search for identity turned into a life defined by shame as the things he had done became the lens through which he saw himself. Together they talk about how shame convinces us that what we have done is who we are and how that belief keeps us stuck in cycles of striving condemnation and isolation. This episode explores why so many people struggle to believe they are actually forgiven even after hearing the gospel and how condemnation can continue to shape our identity long after our sin has been paid for. Pastor Joby and Denny unpack the difference between behavior modification and heart transformation and explain why real freedom begins when we stop trying to earn approval and start living from the identity we have already been given in Christ. Joshua shares how the renewing of his mind through Scripture discipleship and community allowed him to understand that forgiveness is not just about avoiding punishment but about being made new. They discuss why confession leads to healing how loneliness fuels addiction and why the finished work of Jesus means our past is not something we have to manage hide or overcome on our own. This conversation is about redemption grace and the truth that in Christ your past is no longer held against you. Because of the cross forgiveness is not a future promise but a present reality and your identity is no longer defined by what you have done but by what Jesus has done for you.

Your Calling Is Closer Than You Think – Pastor Joby Martin & Denny Thompson

In this episode of the Built 4 More Podcast, Pastor Joby Martin and Denny Thompson answer one of the most common questions we receive: How do you know if you are living in God’s calling? And what if your job does not feel “spiritual” at all? From welders to pastors, quarterback trainers, and business owners, this conversation dives into the truth that your calling is not reserved for a stage. It is lived out in the everyday work God has entrusted to you. Pastor Joby explains why chasing “passion” can actually be misleading, how the skills God has given you are meant to be stewarded for His glory, and why doing excellent work in any field can be sacred when it is done unto the Lord. Whether you are struggling with identity in your job, feeling discontent in your current season, or wondering if there is something more you are meant to do, this episode offers clarity on the difference between Godly ambition and selfish ambition and how to move forward in obedience without abandoning responsibility. They also unpack how seasons of preparation are never wasted, why God often uses the ordinary to prepare us for the extraordinary, and how your desires may begin to change as your mind is renewed through Scripture and community. You will hear how launching this podcast has challenged Denny’s own faith and forced him to move from being someone who simply listens to the Word to someone who lives it out daily. Plus, the conversation shifts into marriage and what it really means to honor the covenant you made with God and your spouse, how forgiveness and grace are essential to lasting relationships, and why love is less about feelings and more about commitment, sacrifice, and daily work. Faith That Fights On - Jake Olson, Pastor Joby Martin & Denny Thompson

At 12 years old, Jake Olson woke up from surgery knowing he would never see again. After battling cancer for most of his childhood, doctors had run out of options. Removing his remaining eye was the only way to save his life. In an instant, everything changed. He went from being a normal middle school kid who loved sports to learning how to read Braille, relearn how to socialize, and figure out how to live in a world he could no longer see. But what happened next is what makes his story unforgettable. Jake made a decision in that moment that most people never make he refused to become a victim of his circumstances. Instead of letting blindness take the life he loved from him, he chose to fight for it. After losing his sight, Jake made a promise to himself that blindness wasn’t going to rob him of the things he loved. Years later, that promise would lead him back onto the football field, first as a high school player, and eventually as a walk-on long snapper at USC. Despite being completely blind, Jake earned the trust of his coaches and teammates and went on to take the snap in a Division 1 college football game, something he once believed would only be possible if he kept his eyesight. What once looked like the end of his story became the beginning of a purpose far greater than he could have imagined. This conversation is about adversity, identity, and the reality that every person faces a moment where they have to choose whether they will live resentful… or fight on. Jake shares how gratitude became his first step out of victimhood, how hardship can either make you bitter or build your faith, and why circumstances don’t have the power to define the life you’re capable of living. If you’ve ever felt stuck, discouraged, or defined by something that happened to you, this episode will challenge the way you think about what’s actually possible with the life you’ve been given and remind you that even when life doesn’t go according to plan, your story is far from over.
