    GTG - A Gift, Not a Reward

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” — Ephesians 2:8–9, KJV "A Gift, Not a Reward" Short Context Paul reminds the believers in Ephesus that salvation comes through God’s grace, received by faith—not through personal accomplishments or religious effort. Because salvation is a gift rather than a reward, the proper response is not pride in ourselves but gratitude toward God. Devotional Thought Morning often arrives with a list of things to accomplish. Before the day is fully underway, we may already feel the pressure to be productive, meet expectations, and prove that we are doing enough. But our relationship with God does not begin with a completed checklist. It begins with grace. Paul’s words remind us that salvation is not something we can earn through a successful day or secure through an impressive record. It is the gift of God. Faith receives what human effort cannot purchase. That truth challenges both our pride and our discouragement. When we are pleased with ourselves, it reminds us that we have no reason to boast. When we are painfully aware of our shortcomings, it reminds us to look toward God rather than search for something in ourselves worthy of earning His gift. Receiving grace does not make the way we live unimportant. It changes the reason we seek to live faithfully. We can serve without keeping score, show kindness without demanding recognition, and obey without treating our obedience as payment. As you begin this day, consider what is motivating your heart. Are you trying to prove your worth, or responding with gratitude to what God has given? Let your work and your treatment of others become a thankful response—not an anxious attempt to earn salvation. Key Take-Aways Salvation is God’s gift, not a reward for human achievement.Faith rests in what God provides rather than what we accomplish.Grace calls us away from both boasting and self-reliance.Good works are an expression of gratitude, not payment for salvation.Begin the day trusting God rather than measuring whether you have done enough to deserve His gift.Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of salvation through Your grace. Forgive me for the times I have taken pride in my efforts or imagined that I could earn what You freely give. Help me begin this day with faith and a grateful heart. When I am tempted to boast, remind me of my dependence on You. When I feel discouraged by my shortcomings, help me turn toward You rather than become consumed with myself. Let the work I do today flow from thankfulness. Teach me to serve without keeping score, to show kindness without seeking praise, and to obey without treating my obedience as a payment. May my words, attitudes, and actions reflect the grace I have received. In Jesus’ name, amen. © 2026 Douglas R. Bramwell — All Rights Reserved.

GTG - Stay Alert, Stand Firm

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Morning Devotional “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” — 1 Peter 5:8–9, KJV Stay Alert, Stand Firm Context Peter calls believers to remain clear-minded, watchful, and firm in their faith while facing adversity. His instruction is not to become consumed with fear, but to resist the enemy. He also reminds them that their suffering is not unique—other believers throughout the world share in the struggle. Devotional Thought Not everything that demands your attention deserves to direct your day. Fear can be loud. Temptation can be persistent. Discouragement can make a temporary struggle feel like a permanent defeat. Peter’s instruction calls us to meet these pressures with spiritual alertness and steady faith. “Be sober, be vigilant” is an invitation to pay attention. What are you allowing to shape your thoughts this morning? Is frustration influencing your words? Is worry making your decisions? Is disappointment tempting you to abandon something you know is right? Being watchful does not mean looking for danger in every circumstance. It means refusing to move through the day carelessly, unaware of what is happening in your heart. Peter also says to resist “stedfast in the faith.” The emphasis is on steadfastness, not panic. Resistance may look like choosing honesty when compromise seems convenient, answering gently when anger rises, or turning to prayer instead of rehearsing your fears. And you do not have to stand alone. The reminder that others share your struggles is an invitation to fellowship, not a reason to minimize your pain. Receive encouragement. Ask for prayer. Let someone walk beside you—and be willing to do the same for them. Begin this morning with a watchful heart and a settled commitment: whatever demands your attention, let faith guide your response. Key Take-Aways Stay watchful. Pay attention to the thoughts and attitudes shaping your choices.Stand firm in faith. Do not let fear or pressure determine your obedience.Resist in everyday moments. Faithfulness includes the words you speak and the decisions you make.Refuse isolation. Allow trusted believers to encourage and pray with you.Remember others who struggle. Let your own difficulties deepen your compassion.Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for this new morning and the opportunity to walk with You today. Help me begin with a clear mind, a watchful heart, and a faith that does not yield easily to fear. Show me where worry, resentment, or temptation may be influencing my choices. Give me wisdom to recognize what draws me away from You and courage to resist it. Teach me to pause before reacting and to choose obedience over convenience. When the struggle feels lonely, remind me to reach toward others rather than withdraw. Help me receive encouragement with humility and offer it with compassion. Let my words, attitudes, and actions reflect my trust in You. Keep me attentive, prayerful, and steadfast throughout this day. In Jesus’ name, amen. © 2026 Douglas R. Bramwell — All Rights Reserved.

GTG - What Withers and What Remains

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Morning Devotional | 1 Peter 1:24–25 “For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” — 1 Peter 1:24–25, KJV "What Withers and What Remains" Short Context Peter contrasts the temporary nature of human life and glory with the enduring Word of God. Grass withers, and flowers lose their beauty, but God’s Word remains. The gospel proclaimed to these believers rests on something time cannot weaken or erase. Devotional Thought Each morning brings opportunities to decide what will receive our attention and shape our confidence. We can spend our energy chasing recognition, protecting our image, or trying to make every circumstance feel secure. Yet Peter reminds us that human glory, however impressive, does not last forever. This is not a reason to dismiss the beauty of life or the value of our work. It is an invitation to put them in their proper place. Enjoy the flower, but do not ask it to last forever. Appreciate an accomplishment, but do not make it the foundation of your identity. Today, choose to remain rooted in what endures. Before you measure your worth by what you accomplish, let God’s Word shape how you see yourself. Before you allow a changing circumstance to determine your peace, remember that it cannot change the truth of the gospel. Perhaps something you once depended on is fading—a season, an opportunity, or someone’s approval. You do not have to pretend that loss is easy. But you can bring it to God without believing that everything dependable has disappeared. What changes around you does not cancel what He has spoken. Begin this morning by giving His Word room to direct your thoughts, your choices, and your response to others. You cannot preserve every flower, but you can build your life around what will never wither. Key Takeaways Keep temporary things in perspective. Beauty, recognition, and achievement can be appreciated without becoming your foundation.Give God’s Word priority. Let it shape your outlook before the demands of the day take over.Remember what change cannot take away. A passing season does not diminish the enduring truth of the gospel.Put truth into practice. Carry what you read into one intentional act of faith, love, or obedience today.Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for meeting me at the beginning of this day with truth that does not fade. Forgive me for placing too much confidence in appearances, accomplishments, and the approval of others. Help me appreciate the blessings of this life without depending on them for lasting security. Where change has made me anxious, steady my heart. Where loss has left me discouraged, remind me that Your Word still stands. Give me understanding as I read, humility to receive Your instruction, and courage to live by it. Let the work I do and the way I treat others reflect the gospel I have received. GTG - A Life On The Altar

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Scripture “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” — Romans 12:1 "A Life on the Altar" Context Romans 12:1 invites us to respond to God’s mercy by offering our whole lives to Him. This surrender goes beyond words—it is expressed through our attitudes, choices, and service. Each day becomes an opportunity to honor God, turning ordinary moments into acts of worship. Today’s Reflection Before the demands of this day begin calling for your attention, take a moment to offer yourself to God. Not just your plans or your problems, but your whole self—your thoughts, your words, your abilities, and your attitude. The invitation in this verse begins with the mercies of God. We do not surrender to earn His love; we surrender in response to it. His mercy is the foundation of our offering. Remembering His goodness changes the way we approach the day: instead of asking only, “What do I need to accomplish?” we can ask, “Lord, how can my life honor You?” To be a living sacrifice is to practice surrender in the ordinary moments. It may mean choosing patience when you feel rushed, speaking gently when frustration rises, or laying aside your preference so you can serve someone else. It may mean placing a cherished dream in God’s hands while remaining faithful to the work before you. You do not have to wait for a platform, a perfect circumstance, or a remarkable opportunity to give God something meaningful. Offer Him the hands that will work today. Offer Him the voice that will speak today. Offer Him the heart that will respond to whatever today brings. Let your first offering this morning be a willing heart: “Lord, I belong to You. Help me live like it.” Key Takeaways Surrender your whole self to God. Offer Him your thoughts, words, actions, plans, and attitude—not just your problems.Let mercy be your motivation. Your offering is a response to God’s love, not an effort to earn it.Make worship a daily practice. Honor God through your work, your conversations, and the way you treat others.Choose faithfulness in ordinary moments. Patience, kindness, humility, and service give practical expression to your devotion.Trust God with what you hold tightly. Place your dreams and desires in His hands while remaining faithful to today’s responsibilities.Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for the mercies that welcome me into this new day. I present myself to You—my body, my mind, my words, and my desires. Make my life an offering that honors You. Where I am holding tightly to my own way, teach me to trust You. Where impatience or pride would shape my response, help me choose humility and love. Guide my work, govern my words, and help me recognize the opportunities to serve that I might otherwise overlook. May my worship extend beyond what I say in prayer into how I live throughout this day. In Jesus’ name, amen. Today’s Practice Before beginning your first task, pause and pray: “Lord, I offer this work and my attitude to You.” Return to that prayer whenever the day pulls your attention away from Him. © 2026 Douglas R. GTG - You Don’t Have to Carry It Alone

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Scripture “Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” —Galatians 6:2 "You Don’t Have to Carry It Alone" Context Paul’s instruction calls believers to practice love by helping one another through struggles, especially when someone has fallen into sin and needs gentle restoration. This verse is not simply about offering help during difficult circumstances; it is also about how a community of faith responds to human weakness—with humility and care rather than pride and condemnation. What Comes Before the Verse? In Galatians 5:13–14, Paul teaches that Christian freedom should lead believers to serve one another through love. He connects this service to the command to love your neighbor as yourself. Galatians 6 then shows what that love looks like in practice. Immediately before the instruction to bear one another’s burdens, Paul tells believers to restore someone caught in wrongdoing gently. He also warns those helping to watch themselves, because they, too, are vulnerable to temptation. The goal is restoration, not humiliation. Devotional Thought Before the day gets busy, pause and consider this: someone you encounter today may be carrying a burden you cannot see. Behind a smile may be grief. Beneath a quiet response may be exhaustion. Behind the words “I’m fine” may be a heart longing for someone to listen. Our morning Scripture invites us to notice—to look beyond our own schedules and make room for another person’s struggle. Bearing a burden may be as simple as making a phone call, delivering a meal, offering a ride, or sitting beside someone without trying to find the perfect words. You do not have to possess every answer to offer meaningful support. Sometimes your willingness to stay, listen, and care speaks more clearly than advice ever could. Ask yourself this morning: “Whose load could I help lighten today?” And if you are the one feeling overwhelmed, allow this invitation to reach you, too. You do not need to hide your struggle to prove your strength. Let someone know what you need. Give others the opportunity to show you the same kindness you would gladly offer them. As you begin this day, leave room in your plans for a person. One thoughtful act may not change every circumstance, but it can remind someone that they are not facing those circumstances alone. Key Take-Aways Notice the person, not just the behavior. A difficult moment may conceal a heavy burden.Make kindness specific. Ask, “What is one thing I can help you with today?”Listen before offering solutions. Give someone room to speak honestly.Offer what you can. A small, sincere act of care still matters.Receive help without shame. You can be both a source of encouragement and someone who needs it.Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of a new morning. Open my eyes to the people around me and soften my heart toward burdens I may not understand. Keep me from being so occupied with my own plans that I overlook someone who needs care. Give me wisdom to know when to speak, when to listen, and how to help. Let my kindness become action rather than remain an intention. When my own heart is heavy, give me the courage to ask for support and the humility to receive it. May someone experience Your love through my words, my patience, and my willingness to show up today. GTG - Begin Your Morning with Reverence

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Scripture “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” — Proverbs 9:10 "Begin Your Morning with Reverence" Context Proverbs 9:10 reminds us that true wisdom begins with honoring God. As we begin each morning, we are invited to look beyond our own understanding and seek His direction. Knowing Him shapes not only what we believe, but how we think, speak, and live. Devotional Thought Before the demands of this day begin to speak, take a moment to acknowledge the One whose wisdom you need. There will be decisions to make, responsibilities to carry, and conversations that require care. You do not have to enter them relying only on your own understanding. The fear of the Lord is not about beginning your morning in dread. It is about approaching God with reverence—with a heart that recognizes His holiness, honors His authority, and remains willing to be taught. It is the humble acknowledgment: “Lord, I have plans, but I need Your direction.” Proverbs 9:10 connects wisdom with knowing God. Wisdom begins not simply with gathering more information, but with giving God His rightful place in our lives. We can know many things and still need His guidance about what matters most, when to speak, and how to respond with grace. This morning, resist the urge to make prayer an afterthought. Before you ask God to bless your plans, invite Him to shape them. Bring Him your ambitions, your concerns, and the decisions you would rather handle on your own. A teachable heart makes room for a wiser response. You may not receive an answer to every question today. Still, you can approach each uncertainty with a settled commitment to honor God. Let your first act of wisdom be this: pause, acknowledge Him, and listen before you move. Key Take-Aways Start with God. Give Him your attention before giving the day your energy.Remain teachable. Hold your plans with humility and welcome His correction.Seek more than information. Pursue a deeper knowledge of God and His character.Practice reverence through obedience. Let your choices reflect the honor you express in prayer.Make room for a thoughtful response. Before speaking or acting, consider what would honor Him.Prayer Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of this new morning. Before I step into its responsibilities, I pause to honor You. You are holy, wise, and worthy of my trust. Teach me to begin with You rather than with my own assumptions. Forgive me for the times I have rushed ahead without seeking Your direction. Give me a humble spirit, a listening heart, and a willingness to obey. Help me to know You more deeply. Shape my thoughts, guide my words, and bring my priorities into agreement with Your will. Where I am uncertain, help me seek wisdom rather than rush to an answer. Where I need correction, help me receive it with gratitude. May my decisions today reflect my reverence for You. Let knowing You matter more to me than appearing to have all the answers. In Jesus’ name, amen. © 2026 Douglas R. Bramwell — All Rights Reserved.

GTG - A Word at the Right Time

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Scripture “A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!” — Proverbs 15:23, KJV "A Word at the Right Time" Context Proverbs 15:23 reminds us that the right words, spoken at the right time, can bring joy and encouragement. A thoughtful response begins with listening and recognizing what someone needs in the moment. The phrase “a word spoken in due season” draws our attention to timing. In the devotional’s focus, the question is not merely, “What can I say?” but, “What does this person need to hear in this moment?” Perhaps it is encouragement before a difficult task, reassurance after disappointment, or an honest answer offered gently. Consider a friend who admits, “I don’t know whether I can keep going.” Rather than immediately offering a list of solutions, you might begin with, “I’m glad you told me. You don’t have to face this alone.” That response makes room for the person before trying to solve the problem. Devotional Thought Every morning brings opportunities to speak into someone’s life. Before the day is over, you may encounter someone who needs reassurance, someone who needs gentle correction, or someone who simply needs to hear, “You are not alone.” Proverbs 15:23 invites us to recognize the goodness of a fitting response. A word “in due season” is more than a true statement—it is a word offered with care for the person and the moment. Even good advice can miss its purpose when delivered without tenderness or before someone is ready to receive it. Sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is pause. Listening gives us room to understand what a quick response might overlook. Rather than speaking to prove a point or fill the silence, we can ask: “Lord, what would serve this person well right now?” You do not need an impressive speech to make a meaningful difference today. A sincere thank-you, a thoughtful apology, or a quiet word of encouragement may be enough. There is joy in knowing that your words helped someone feel seen rather than dismissed, strengthened rather than discouraged. As you begin this day, surrender your conversations to God. Let your aim be more than having the right answer. Seek to offer the right word, with the right spirit, at the right time. Key Takeaways Listen before you answer. Give people your attention before offering your perspective.Consider the timing. Ask whether this moment calls for encouragement, counsel, or simply your presence.Speak truth with kindness. Let your tone support the good you intend your words to accomplish.Make encouragement intentional. Look for one person you can sincerely affirm today.Leave room for a pause. You do not have to respond immediately to respond wisely.Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of a new morning and the opportunity to bring goodness into someone’s life. Guide my thoughts, my tone, and my timing today. Help me listen with patience and speak with understanding. Keep me from careless replies, harsh judgments, and the need to have the last word. Show me when to speak and when to be still. Where someone is weary, help me offer encouragement. Where there is tension, help me respond with grace. Where truth is needed, give me both courage and gentleness. May the words of my mouth reflect Your love, and may my conversations leave others strengthened. In Jesus’ name, amen. © 2026 Douglas R. GTG - Restore My Joy (A Fresh Start in God’s Presence)

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Scripture “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.” —Psalm 51:12 "Restore My Joy" A Fresh Start in God’s Presence Context Psalm 51:12 expresses a heartfelt desire for restoration—not simply to feel better, but to rediscover the joy of God’s salvation. This morning’s devotional invites us to bring God our weary hearts, ask Him to renew our joy, and depend on His Spirit to sustain us throughout the day. Devotional Thought Before the demands of this day begin, take a moment to bring your heart before God—not the version that appears strong to everyone else, but the heart He already knows. Bring Him your weariness, your disappointments, your regrets, and even the feelings you struggle to put into words. “Restore unto me” is an honest prayer. It acknowledges that something precious needs renewing. Perhaps you still believe, yet the delight you once found in God’s presence feels distant. Perhaps your prayers have become hurried, your worship distracted, or your heart weighed down by yesterday’s mistakes. You do not have to pretend that everything is well in order to pray. Make the words of this verse your own: “Lord, restore what has grown weary within me. Help me rejoice in Your salvation again.” Notice that the prayer asks for more than a moment of happiness. It also asks, “Uphold me.” We need both renewal and sustaining grace—a heart refreshed in God’s presence and a spirit willing to follow His direction. As you enter this morning, let restoration begin with surrender. You do not need to manufacture a feeling or force a perfect start. Simply turn toward God with an honest heart. Let your first prayer be less about getting everything done and more about walking through everything with Him. Key Takeaways Ask honestly. Bring your spiritual weariness to God without hiding it behind religious words.Seek renewed joy. Make room to delight in God’s salvation, not merely move through a daily routine.Pray for sustaining grace. Ask not only to be refreshed this morning, but also to be upheld throughout the day.Choose a willing response. Identify one step of obedience you can take today with a surrendered heart.Begin with gratitude. Before reaching for your list of responsibilities, pause to thank God for His mercy.Prayer Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of this new morning. I come before You with an open heart, asking You to restore unto me the joy of Your salvation. Forgive me for the ways I have allowed distractions, disappointments, or sin to draw my attention away from You. Renew my delight in Your presence. Where my heart has become weary, refresh me. Where I have grown resistant, make me willing. Where I have depended only on my own strength, teach me to lean on You. Uphold me with Your free spirit. Let my words, choices, and attitude reflect a heart that is being renewed by Your grace. Whatever this day holds, help me walk through it with gratitude, obedience, and trust in You.
