Golden Years Interrupted is about what happens when the life you planned takes an unexpected turn. I thought I knew what my later years would look like—until a romance scam changed nearly everything. But that wasn’t the end of the story. It was the beginning of a very different one. Through my own experiences and the stories of others, we’ll explore loss, reinvention, resilience, relationships, money, and the unexpected second acts that can happen when life doesn’t go according to plan.

Episode 3: The $19 Million Promise — The Trouble with Italy

Chris travels to Rome believing the diamonds she has been promised could finally put everything right. Instead, she finds herself alone in Italy, handing over $10,000, opening a bank account that will never hold the promised millions, and depending on a stranger named Marco while Lewis becomes harder and harder to reach. In Episode 3 of Golden Years Interrupted, the romance, the diamonds and the dream of a new life collide with a reality Chris still isn’t ready to see.

  2. Aug 25

    Episode 2 The Diamonds

A trip overseas. A mysterious business partner. Diamonds that suddenly couldn’t be moved without the right paperwork. In Episode 2, I share how a seemingly small $200 request became the first step into something much bigger, as one crisis after another made the story more complicated—and harder to question. Looking back, the warning signs seem obvious. In the moment, they didn’t.

Episode 1. The Man Who Didn’t Exist

Golden Years Interrupted begins with the story that changed my life. I thought I had met a successful Canadian engineer working overseas. What followed was an elaborate web of romance, trust, international intrigue, and deception that ultimately cost me nearly $200,000. In Episode 1, I take you back to where it all began—before I knew the man I cared about wasn’t who he claimed to be, and before I understood just how far the deception would go. This is the beginning of my story. And believe me, it only gets stranger from here.
