When Everything Falls Apart, Check What It Was Built On

When something falls apart in your life, the relationship, the business, the friendship, the identity that suddenly doesn't fit anymore. There's one question worth asking before any other. Not why is this happening to me. Not what did I do wrong. What was this actually built on? In this episode Kim breaks down the two foundations we build our lives on. The first is who you actually are, your truth, your knowing, the already-enough core of you. The second looks identical from the outside but runs on completely different fuel: proving, producing, and performing your way into worthiness. And here's the part that makes it so convincing. The second foundation works. It builds real businesses, real bodies, real marriages, real reputations. From the outside it looks like winning. But underneath, something in you already knows. It's the exhaustion that rest doesn't fix. The anxiety that shows up when you slow down. The quiet afternoon that feels more uncomfortable than your busiest day. Kim gets into where that proving blueprint gets installed, usually long before you could see it happening, what actually collapses when things fall apart (hint: it's never your real foundation), why growth and collapse so often show up together, and the grief nobody talks about when an identity you've carried for years finally comes down. Then she gives you four practical things to do with all of it, including the four questions to ask about anything you're building right now, before life asks them for you. If something in your life is falling apart, shaking, or showing its first cracks, this episode is going to meet you right where you are. What we get into: -The two foundations and why they look identical from the outside. -Where the proving blueprint gets installed and how it becomes the basis for everything you build. -Why the exhaustion you feel isn't from what you're doing but from what the doing is for. -What actually collapses when things fall apart. -Why things start shaking when you start healing. -The identity collapse nobody prepares you for. -Four practices for building from who you actually are instead of who you've been proving to be. The Hidden Cost of Indecision: How Overthinking Is Keeping You Stuck and What to Do About It

You are not stuck because you don't know enough. You are not stuck because the timing isn't right. You are not stuck because you need one more sign, one more month, one more conversation about it. You are stuck because you haven't decided yet. And that indecision is costing you more than any wrong decision ever could. In this episode Kim gets real about her own overthinking — sharing how she rewrote, revamped, and second-guessed her self-worth program through nearly twenty versions before realizing the first one was already great. The stress wasn't coming from the work. It was coming from not finishing it. And the moment she stopped overthinking and started moving, something in her body finally exhaled. That exhale is what this episode is about. Kim breaks down the three hidden costs of overthinking that nobody talks about honestly: time, energy, and self-trust. Then why your nervous system has been using indecision to protect you from a pain it remembers even when you don't. She also gets into why clarity is never going to arrive before the decision. It only comes after. And she gives you five practical ways to break the overthinking loop starting today. This one is going to hit if you have been circling the same decision for weeks, months, or longer. And you already know who you are. What we get into:Why the stress you're feeling isn't from doing the hard thing — it's from not doing it — the three real costs of indecision that nobody names honestly — why your nervous system mistakes protection for sabotage — why clarity comes after the decision not before it — the cleaning the house analogy that makes this all click — and five practical steps to break the overthinking loop today Connect with Kim:Instagram: @ownyourshift_kimWebsite: ownyourshiftwithkim.comGrab your free chapter of Unhurtable hereJoin the waitlist for The Shift Starts With You — launching June 15th New episodes every Wednesday at 5:55 AM — subscribe so you never miss one. Re-Air: From Resistance to Radiance: Reclaiming Your Power Through Intentional Movement with Jordyn Barth

This one is worth a second listen and if you missed it the first time, you’re going to want to stop what you’re doing and press play right now. I sat down with one of my favorite people, Jordyn Barth, for one of the most honest conversations I’ve had on this show. Jordyn came into my program as a busy, overwhelmed stay-at-home mom who was running on empty and going through the motions. What happened over the course of that program is exactly what I built it for, and hearing her say it out loud still gives me chills. This isn’t a fitness story. This is a story about a woman who finally decided to show up for herself and what that actually looks like when it’s real, not performative. We talk about using movement as emotional and energetic release, the grounding rituals that shifted everything for her, and the moment the whole thing stopped feeling like a chore and started feeling like a gift she was giving herself. If you’ve been stuck in survival mode, going through the motions, or just feeling disconnected from yourself, this conversation is going to crack something open in you. With The Shift Starts With You launching June 15th, I wanted to bring this one back. Because Jordyn’s story is exactly what’s possible when you stop managing yourself and start actually coming home to yourself. What we get into: Why Jordyn joined the program and what drew her to the energy and mindset piece, what it feels like to finally show up for yourself even when it’s hard, using movement as energetic and emotional release, the shift from “I have to” to “I get to” how she learned to speak up for herself, own her energy, and lead with peace instead of survival — and what she wants every woman who’s scared to begin again to know Connect with Kim: Instagram: @ownyourshift_kim Website: ownyourshiftwithkim.com Grab your free chapter of Unhurtable here: Join the waitlist for The Shift Starts With You New episodes every Wednesday at 5:55 AM. The Struggle Was Never in the Way. It Was the Way.

Whatif everything you have been through, every hard season, every loss, every thing that felt like it was breaking you — was never actually in the way of who you're becoming? What if it was the way? This is one of the most personal episodes Kim has ever recorded. In it she pulls back the curtain on three decades of her own life and shows you exactly how the hardest things she lived through became the exact preparation she needed to become the coach, the woman, and the version of herself she had been calling in all along. She talks about getting married young and stepping into a blended family before she even knew who she was. About navigating a biracial marriage and what it gave her in terms of perspective and empathy. About her weight and what she finally understood it was really telling her, that her body was keeping score long before her mind was ready to deal with it. About being pregnant with her youngest daughter Jada and receiving a cancer diagnosis she couldn't do anything about until after Jada was born, and the six surgeries that followed in a single year. About an Ayahuasca experience that cracked her open and showed her a past she hadn't fully remembered. About over twenty years of marriage, the edge they came to, and what it meant to choose to stay and do the work. About building a business from scratch after seasons of having nothing. This is not a motivational episode. This is a woman standing on the other side of decades of hard telling you the truth about what she found there. Nothing was wasted. Not one single thing. And neither was yours. What we get into: Why the version of you that you're manifesting can only be built through the hard thing, how to shift from asking why is this happening to me to what is this building in me, why your body keeps score when your mind won't, what it means to hold space for other women when you've actually lived what they're going through, and why you are not behind, not broken, and not being punished, you are being prepared Also mentioned in this episode: The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk Kim's three part Ayahuasca series — click here. Are You Growing or Just Hiding In Your Growth

You’ve done the work. You know the language. You understand your nervous system, you’ve read the books, you’ve been in the rooms. And there is still something you are not doing. A conversation you’re not having. A boundary you’re not holding. A version of yourself you keep preparing for but never quite stepping into. This episode is for you. Kim gets honest in this one — sharing the story of a client situation she avoided for weeks, knowing exactly what needed to be said and choosing not to say it anyway. Not because she didn’t know better. Because she was afraid of the reaction on the other side of that conversation. And she was using everything she knew to make the avoidance sound reasonable. Sound familiar? There is a real difference between growing and running. And from the outside they can look identical. Same vocabulary, same commitment, same dedication to the journey. The difference isn’t what it looks like. The difference is what it’s pointed away from. Real growth will always eventually point you toward the uncomfortable thing. If yours keeps circling around it — giving you new reasons why you’re not ready yet — that’s not growth. That’s a very intelligent nervous system keeping you exactly where you are. In this episode Kim breaks down three honest questions to help you figure out which one you’re actually doing right now — and what it really costs you every day you choose the processing over the doing. What we get into: Why being in the work and doing the work are not the same thing — the conversation you’ve been avoiding and what it’s actually costing you to stay quiet — how self-awareness becomes a hiding place — why you will never feel fully ready and what to do about that — and the three questions that will show you exactly where the running lives in your own life Connect with Kim: Instagram: @ownyourshift_kim Website: ownyourshiftwithkim.com Grab your free chapter of Unhurtable here: own-your-shift-with-kim-61jiv6.subscribepage.io New episodes every Wednesday at 5:55 AM — subscribe so you never miss one. The Weakest Player on Your Team

What if the parts of you that you’ve been avoiding, hiding, and quietly managing your whole life aren’t the problem? What if they’re just the parts that haven’t been coached yet? This episode started with a client who came to me anxious, heavy, and drowning in his own circumstances. What came out of that conversation was a metaphor I haven’t been able to stop thinking about — and one that I think is going to change the way you see yourself. Every team has a star player. But a good coach knows the future of the team doesn’t live there. It lives in the player nobody wants to deal with. The one sitting at the end of the bench. The one who keeps getting passed over because developing them costs more than it feels worth right now. Your emotions, your behaviors, your personality — they’re a team. And most of us have been pouring everything into our strongest parts while quietly benching the ones that feel too messy, too raw, or too hard to face. Kim also gets personal in this one — sharing the version of herself she kept hidden for years. The fear-based side. The side that wasn’t always okay. The side she was privately ashamed of until she finally stopped running from her and started coaching her instead. In this episode you’ll walk away knowing how to identify your own benched players through three entry points — your recurring triggers, your hidden emotions, and the shame you’ve been carrying that was never actually a verdict on who you are. This is not surface level work. This is the real thing. What we get into: The mirror concept and why your triggers are never really about what you think they’re about — why your star players will eventually go down and what happens if your bench isn’t ready — the difference between managing yourself and actually developing yourself — how shame functions as a map, not a verdict — and what it actually looks like to stop running from the hardest parts of who you are Connect with Kim: Instagram: @ownyourshift_kim Website: ownyourshiftwithkim.com Grab the free chapter of Unhurtable New episodes every Wednesday at 5:55 AM — subscribe so you never miss one. Why You Self-Sabotage When Things Are Going Too Well -- The Nervous System Thermostat

Episode Summary: This episode came straight out of a walk Kim took this afternoon -- and a corn dog truck she almost stopped at for no reason. What started as a hilarious moment of self-awareness turned into one of the most profound realizations Kim has had about why we sabotage ourselves when things are going really well. If you have ever felt uncomfortable when life was too good -- this episode is going to change how you see yourself. What We Cover: The corn dog moment.Kim was on her second listen of a Dr. Joe Dispenza interview, completely lit up and full of ideas, when she walked past a corn dog truck and suddenly craved one. She doesn't even like corn dogs. She hasn't had one in years. So why -- at the exact moment she felt the best she had in a long time -- did her body want something it knew would make her feel terrible? The pattern Kim saw in three areas of her life. After the corn dog moment Kim started seeing the same pattern everywhere. On great workout days telling herself she could eat whatever she wanted. Starting fights in relationships when things were going really well. Spending money back down to zero every time she had a significant influx of cash. Three completely different areas. One identical pattern underneath all of them. The nervous system thermostat.Dr. Joe Dispenza talks about this concept and it is one of the most important things Kim has ever come across. Your nervous system has a set point -- just like a thermostat. It will do everything in its power to bring you back to the temperature it knows. That set point was set a long time ago in a season when feeling too good wasn't safe. And it has been enforcing that lesson ever since. The three steps -- notice it, name it, choose differently.Awareness is the beginning but it is not the whole thing. Kim walks through exactly what to do when you catch your thermostat trying to pull you back down -- and why this is a nervous system shift not a mindset shift. The Challenge Kim Leaves You With:Notice your thermostat this week. Notice the moment when things are going really well and something in you reaches for the thing that will bring you back down. Just notice it. Name it. And for that one moment -- choose to stay elevated a little longer. This Episode Is For You If: You feel uncomfortable when things are going too wellYou have ever sabotaged a good relationship, a good streak, or a good financial momentYou keep arriving back at the same place no matter how hard you tryYou want to understand what is actually happening in your nervous system when you self-sabotage Mentioned In This Episode: Dr. Joe Dispenza -- School of Greatness interviewFirst chapter of Unhurtable completely free -- click hereConnect With Kim: Instagram: @ownyourshift_kimFree first chapter of Unhurtable: Website: http://ownyourshiftwithkim.comStore If this episode hit you -- screenshot it, DM Kim, and tell her your version of the corn dog. Things I Wish I Knew Sooner: Stop Proving Your Worth, Stop Hiding in Healing, and Start Actually Living

Episode Summary: In this episode Kim gets real about the patterns she spent years living inside without even realizing it. This one is for the woman who has been doing the work, consuming the content, getting the certifications, and still feels like something isn't shifting. Kim breaks down three of the most confronting truths she had to face on her own journey -- and why facing them changed everything. What We Cover: 1. You don't have to prove your worth.Kim shares how she spent years believing she was confident and didn't care what people thought -- while her behaviors told a completely different story. Overgiving, overexplaining, overcompensating. The moment she realized that proving your worth has a feeling attached to it -- pressure, fear of losing something -- everything started to reorganize. 2. You're not confused. You're avoiding. One of the most honest and uncomfortable truths in this episode. Kim breaks down how confusion became her cover story for avoiding decisions she already knew the answer to. Including the one question that unlocks your subconscious when you are convinced you have no idea what to do -- "If I thought I did know the answer, what would it be?" 3. Healing can become a hiding place.Reading the books without doing the practices. Listening to the podcasts without applying the principles. Staying in the I'm still preparing phase as a sophisticated form of avoidance. Kim breaks down how she used personal development as a way to feel productive without actually moving forward -- and what finally snapped her out of it. Key Quotes From This Episode: "Most of the time we're not confused. We're just avoiding what we already know to be true." "Proving your worth has a feeling attached to it. It feels like pressure. Like if I don't do this I lose something." "Healing can feel like you're doing something right -- but at some point I stopped moving forward because I wasn't applying the principles I had learned." "We don't grow through reading and journaling alone. We grow through action combined with those things." "What are you pretending not to know?" This Episode Is For You If: You have been on a personal development journey for years and still feel stuckYou catch yourself saying I'm confused when deep down you already know the answerYou consume content, take courses, and get certifications but struggle to take actionYou are waiting to feel ready before you startConnect With Kim: Instagram: @ownyourshift_kimFree first chapter of Unhurtable: [your MailerLite landing page link]Website: ownyourshiftwithkim.comStan Store: stan.store/ownyourshift_kimIf this episode hit you -- screenshot it, DM Kim what came up for you, and send it to the first person who came to mind when she asked who needs to hear this.
