Ep 11 - Building a Business in the Margins of Motherhood with Nicola Prentis

What if building your business didn’t require finding more time—but getting more intentional with the time you already have? In this episode of The Fear No Video Show, Jasmin Bryant sits down with personal finance educator, writer and entrepreneur Nicola Prentis for a candid conversation about building a business while raising two sons as a single mom. Nicola’s path to entrepreneurship didn’t begin with a perfectly mapped-out business plan. After years as an ESL teacher and educational materials writer, she realized she had reached adulthood knowing very little about investing, retirement planning or compound interest. Once she began educating herself, she saw an opportunity to combine her new financial knowledge with what she already knew how to do: teach. Today, Nicola helps others make personal finance and investing feel less intimidating—but she’s also figured out how to grow her own business around the realities of single motherhood. And sometimes, that means working from the playground. Nicola shares how bringing her laptop along while her sons play after school transformed a piece of “dead time” into a productive part of her workday. She handles emails, correspondence, article drafts and marketing there—and even wrote an entire 37-week email sequence from the playground. Jasmin and Nicola talk about finding pockets of time when your schedule already feels full, choosing work that fits the environment you’re in, and letting go of what other people might think about how you build your business. They also explore what Nicola is intentionally teaching her sons along the way. She involves them in pieces of her business, talks openly about what works and what doesn’t, and teaches them about investing and compound interest so they can grow up with financial knowledge she didn’t have herself.  The conversation also turns to visibility and credibility. Nicola has written for publications including Business Insider and HuffPost, and while those publications don’t always put her directly in front of her ideal clients, the bylines strengthen her credibility with the people she does want to reach. And when increased visibility brings unwanted opinions or inappropriate messages? Nicola has a simple answer: block and move on. In this episode, Jasmin and Nicola talk about: Building a business as a single momFinding usable work time without sacrificing every moment with your kidsTurning small pockets of time into meaningful progressNicola’s journey from ESL education to personal financeFinancial fear and why it can keep us from taking actionTeaching children about investing and entrepreneurshipUsing media features to build brand credibilityNavigating criticism as your visibility growsPre-selling an offer before creating every piece of itBuilding a business that works around your real life Nicola’s story is a reminder that entrepreneurship doesn’t have to happen inside a perfect schedule. Sometimes the business gets built during school hours. Sometimes it gets built at the playground. Sometimes it gets built during an unexpected early morning when you’re already awake. You don’t necessarily need more hours. You may just need to see the hours you already have differently. 🎧 Listen now, and if this conversation resonates with you, follow The Fear No Video Show so you don’t miss the next episode. Ep 10 - Systemize the Chaos: Building a Business That Can Grow with Suhaiba Neill

Does your business have systems - or does everything live in your head? If you know exactly how everything needs to get done but struggle to hand it off, document it or create processes your team will actually follow, this episode is for you. In this episode of The Fear No Video Show, Jasmin Bryant sits down with systems specialist and The Full Circle Business founder Suhaiba Neill to talk about what it really takes to organize the chaos, create repeatable business processes and build a service-based business that is ready to grow. Suhaiba discovered her gift for systems after joining her family business and stepping into a role where very little was documented. She began creating checklists and processes for the work she handled, eventually expanding those systems across the business. What started as a way to make her own job easier became a powerful lesson in how documentation can reduce stress, make delegation easier and create consistency as a team grows.  And if the thought of creating systems makes you want to close this episode immediately, don’t worry. Suhaiba’s advice is refreshingly simple: Don’t start with the software. Start with a brain dump. Before worrying about which app, platform or project management tool you should use, get the process itself out of your head. How do you actually complete the task? What needs to happen? What does your team need to know? From there, the goal is to create something simple, repeatable and universal - because once you have a team, it can’t only be your way of doing things. It needs to become the company’s way.  Jasmin and Suhaiba also dig into why so many business systems fail to stick. Suhaiba shares her “Try, Track and Tweak” approach: implement the process, give it enough time to work, track what’s happening and then adjust it based on what you and your team actually need. In this conversation, you’ll hear about: Why systems become essential when you’re ready to growHow documented processes make delegation less stressfulWhere to start when everything currently lives in your headWhy you should brain dump the process before choosing the technologyHow to create systems your whole team can actually useWhy consistency matters for the customer experienceHow to use Try, Track and Tweak instead of expecting perfectionWhy your team should have input into the processes they use every dayThe mistake of trying to systemize everything at onceHow to identify the recurring problem that needs your attention firstWhy business owners need dedicated time to work on the business, not only in itHow to tell whether a system is actually improving your businessWhy clear processes can make work less stressful for your teamWhen to stop trying to figure it all out yourself and ask for help One of the biggest takeaways? You don’t have to systemize your entire business overnight. Start with the problem that keeps happening. Figure out what’s causing it. Build a process to solve it. Give that process time to work. Then move on to the next thing. And if systems simply aren’t your zone of genius, that doesn’t make you a bad business owner. As Jasmin and Suhaiba discuss, sometimes the smartest thing you can do is hand the work to the person on your team who is great at it - or hire someone who can help you get there faster.  Because the goal isn’t to create more work for yourself. It’s to create a business where the work doesn’t depend on you remembering every single thing. Ep 9 - It’s Never Too Late: Career Change After 40 with Rachel Gaddis

Have you ever wondered if you’re too old to change careers, leave your 9-to-5 or finally pursue work that actually makes you happy? You’re not. In this episode of The Fear No Video Show, Jasmin Bryant sits down with career transition coach Rachel Gaddis for a candid conversation about career change after 40, navigating ADHD in midlife and figuring out what you actually want from the next chapter of your working life. Rachel knows what it feels like to wonder why your career path doesn’t look like everyone else’s. After years of moving from career to career and becoming “kind of good at a lot of things,” she was diagnosed with ADHD at 44—a diagnosis that suddenly explained a lot about her own journey. Eventually, Rachel found herself working as a Scrum Master and Agile Coach for tech teams. As she became more immersed in coaching, she realized she had finally found work that felt like a fit. Today, she uses what she learned through her own career changes, ADHD diagnosis and coaching experience to help other women navigate that process more intentionally.  Jasmin and Rachel talk about what it really means to start over in your 40s, 50s and beyond—and why a career change isn’t necessarily about throwing away everything you’ve already built. They explore how to identify the values and priorities that matter most to you, what happens when your career becomes intertwined with your identity, and the difficult question many women eventually have to answer: Do I care more about how impressive my career looks to other people—or how happy and fulfilled I actually am? The conversation also turns to something Jasmin knows very well: visibility. When Rachel became a coach, she discovered just how vulnerable it could feel to put her own face, thoughts and opinions online. When you are the brand, there’s nowhere to hide behind the product. But Rachel offers a powerful reframe: you don’t need everyone to like you. You need to find your people. In this episode, you’ll hear about: Why it’s never too late to change careersThe fear of “starting at the bottom” after 40Rachel’s ADHD diagnosis at 44 and how it changed her perspectiveWhy career hopping doesn’t mean your experience was wastedHow to identify your personal and professional non-negotiablesWhat happens when your career becomes part of your identityHow to navigate other people’s opinions about your career choicesWhy visibility can feel terrifying when you are the brandHow to get underneath your fear of judgmentWhy trying to appeal to everyone can actually hurt your businessWhy an unsubscribe can be a good thingThe difference between meaningful metrics and vanity metricsHow comparison affects women building businesses onlineADHD-friendly ways to approach networkingWhy networking works better when you choose a method you genuinely enjoy Rachel and Jasmin also share their own approaches to networking—from podcast conversations and one-on-one connections to simply finding one genuine thing to talk about with someone new. Because whether you’re changing careers, building a business or becoming more visible, you don’t have to do it the way everyone else does. You can build the next chapter around who you actually are, how your brain works and what matters most to you. Ep 8 - From Ideas to Empires: The Power of Persistence with H. Lamar Willis

Have a business idea you can’t stop thinking about—but you’re still waiting for the perfect time to act on it? Or maybe you’ve already started, but success is taking much longer than you expected. In this episode of The Fear No Video Show, Jasmin Bryant sits down with serial entrepreneur and former politician H. Lamar Willis for an honest conversation about what it actually takes to move from having an idea to building something real. Lamar didn’t grow up in a family of entrepreneurs. He grew up around government workers, teachers and hardworking professionals, but he knew early that he wanted to work for himself. For years, he had ideas that he believed in but didn’t always put enough energy behind them to bring them to life. Eventually, he decided he wanted to live without wondering what might have happened if he had simply tried. That willingness to act—and to keep acting when things don’t happen quickly—has shaped decades of entrepreneurship. Jasmin and Lamar talk about the freedom of working for yourself, but they don’t romanticize it. Entrepreneurship also means paying the bills and your employees before yourself, learning the administrative side of business, managing your money, keeping licenses current, planning your marketing and figuring out how to keep moving when the outcome is anything but guaranteed.  They also dig into one of the biggest obstacles for aspiring entrepreneurs: analysis paralysis. Lamar challenges the idea that everything has to be perfectly ready before you begin. Sometimes the difference between the person who succeeds and the person who keeps saying, “I could have done that,” is simply being willing to show up and try. And Lamar knows something about persistence. His latest venture, Sky Gamerz, began as an idea around 2015. What followed was nearly a decade of government contracting, setbacks, COVID delays, opportunities that didn’t materialize and even seeing someone else take part of the concept to market. But Lamar kept seeing forward progress. Today, Sky Gamers has opened its airport gaming lounge concept in Seattle, combining gaming, food and beverages to give travelers a new way to spend their time between flights.  In this episode, you’ll hear about: The financial reality of becoming a full-time entrepreneurWhy a great idea still needs planning and business fundamentalsHow fear and analysis paralysis keep good ideas from becoming real businessesWhy trusting your instincts mattersWhat it means to go “10 toes down” on an ideaHow to know when it’s time to persist versus pivotWhy being the first to market isn’t always as important as being the bestHow consistency builds credibility and trustWhy incremental progress still counts as progressWhat nearly 10 years of building Sky Gamers taught Lamar about entrepreneurshipWhy you may have to hear 100 no’s before getting the one yes that changes everything Lamar’s advice for entrepreneurs is ultimately simple: be persistent. Plan your work. Work your plan. Show up consistently. Keep moving forward when people tell you no. And remember that the people who eventually trust your brand or your business may simply need time to see that you’re still here. Because as Jasmin and Lamar agree, you have to be present to win. Ep 7 - How Fear Keeps Us From Living Fully with Wade Simmons

What would you do differently if you truly believed tomorrow wasn't promised? In this episode of The Fear No Video Show, Jasmin Bryant sits down with filmmaker, actor and funeral service professional Wade Simmons for a conversation that is both inspiring and deeply grounding. Although Wade's career spans filmmaking, acting and funeral service, every chapter of his journey has led him to the same realization: Life is too short to spend waiting for the "right time." Working alongside families experiencing loss has given Wade a perspective few people have. It's reminded him that every day is a gift, fear keeps too many people stuck, and the dreams we continue postponing deserve our attention now—not someday. Throughout this conversation, Wade shares how following one passion unexpectedly opened the door to another, why you don't have to limit yourself to a single career or identity, and how taking imperfect action builds confidence far more effectively than waiting to feel ready. Together, Jasmin and Wade explore: • Why fear holds so many entrepreneurs back• What working in funeral service teaches about living fully• How following your passions can create unexpected opportunities• Why confidence comes from action—not perfection• The freedom that comes from embracing multiple passions• Building authentic relationships that last• Showing up on camera with greater confidence• Living intentionally instead of waiting for "someday" Whether you're building a business, creating content, changing careers or simply feeling stuck, this conversation offers a timely reminder that the life you're hoping to build begins with the choices you make today. EP 6 - Start Before You’re Ready: Reinvention, Visibility & Betting on Yourself with Jaclyn Roth

What if starting over doesn’t actually mean starting from scratch? Jaclyn Roth built her career behind the scenes producing news, reality TV and true crime before making a bold pivot into entrepreneurship as the founder of Lately, a platform helping people discover and book last-minute beauty appointments. In this episode of The Fear No Video Show, Jasmin and Jaclyn talk about career reinvention, betting on yourself and what it really looks like to build something before you feel completely ready. Jaclyn shares how years of working in fast-paced television taught her to execute, adapt and keep moving — skills she now relies on every day as a founder. And while she once felt self-conscious about having a career that wasn’t perfectly linear, she now sees that every previous chapter gave her something she needed for the next one. Because even when you pivot, you’re never really back at square one. They also talk about the perfectionism trap that keeps so many entrepreneurs stuck. Jaclyn explains why she deliberately launched Lately before everything was perfect, what she learned by watching real customers interact with the platform and how she decides which problems actually need to be fixed now versus which improvements can wait. It’s a lesson that applies far beyond tech startups: action gives you information that thinking alone never can. Jasmin and Jaclyn also dig into what to do when you know you want something different but have no idea where to begin. Instead of demanding that you have the entire plan figured out, Jaclyn recommends taking small steps, learning what you like and don’t like and continuing to move toward the next thing. And then there’s visibility. Jaclyn admits she was barely on social media before starting her company. Once she began showing up consistently on TikTok, people started finding her, contacting her and opening doors she could never have planned for — including an upcoming television opportunity that began because someone discovered her content. In this episode: • Why a nonlinear career can become one of your greatest advantages • How to use your past experience when building something new • Why you should start before you feel completely ready • How to separate “nice to have” from “need to have” in business • Why perfectionism can slow down growth • How real customer feedback helps you build faster • What to do when you don’t know exactly what you want next • Why social media visibility creates unexpected opportunities • The reality of bootstrapping and building a startup • Why work can’t become your entire life If you’ve been waiting for more confidence, more clarity or a more perfect plan before taking your next step, this conversation is your reminder: You don’t have to have it all figured out. EP 5 - Scaling Beyond Yourself with Kristine Reed

What happens when you stop building a business that depends entirely on your own time, energy and hands? In this episode of The Fear No Video Show, Jasmin Bryant sits down with Kristine Reed, founder and CEO of Mobile Beauty Bar ATL, to talk about turning a hands-on beauty service into a scalable business serving busy professionals, corporate workplaces and government clients. Kristine’s entrepreneurial journey did not begin with a perfect plan. Her first business—a cosmetics kiosk—did not unfold the way she expected, and she eventually returned to corporate America. But that experience gave her something invaluable: a deeper understanding of professionalism, leadership, communication, structure and customer service. Then the pandemic created an unexpected opportunity. When clients continued asking for hair, makeup and grooming services, Kristine began bringing beauty and self-care directly to them. What started as an immediate response to customer demand became a much bigger vision for Mobile Beauty Bar ATL: making beauty, grooming and wellness services more accessible in homes, at events and inside the workplace. A partnership with Google helped Kristine recognize that her idea could grow beyond individual appointments. Today, she is building a company that connects organizations with beauty and wellness professionals while helping service providers think beyond working behind the chair. In this practical and honest conversation, Jasmin and Kristine discuss: • How to recognize when a business idea has the potential to scale• The difference between working in your business and working on it• How corporate and government contracts can create recurring opportunities• Why one successful contract should lead to stronger positioning—not complacency• How beauty professionals and service providers can begin building beyond themselves• The financial sacrifices that may be required to create long-term growth• Why delegation and team development are essential for sustainability• The importance of communication and customer service in every service-based business• Why self-care is not simply a luxury for busy professionals• How appearance, confidence and performance can influence one another• A simple five-minute routine to help you feel more prepared for Zoom meetings and video Kristine also challenges beauty professionals to consider an important question: What is your plan when you no longer want—or are no longer able—to personally perform every service? This episode is for beauty professionals, salon owners, coaches, consultants and service-based entrepreneurs who want to create more sustainable revenue, build a capable team and grow a business that does not depend entirely on them. Kristine Reed is the founder and CEO of Mobile Beauty Bar ATL, a mobile beauty and wellness platform offering hair, makeup, grooming and self-care services for homes, events and workplaces. With more than a decade of beauty-industry experience and an MBA in marketing, Kristine is helping reimagine how busy professionals access self-care while creating new opportunities for beauty professionals. EP 4 - How to Stay Visible Without Burning Out | with Bernadette Brown

Are you so busy being the leader, business owner, caregiver, and person everyone relies on that you have forgotten how to power down? Burnout does not always look like falling apart. Sometimes it looks like continuing to perform, meet deadlines, lead others, and handle every responsibility while quietly running on empty. In this episode of The Fear No Video Show, Jasmin Bryant sits down with news operations leader, speaker, self-care advocate, and Glow Forward founder Bernadette Brown for an honest conversation about ambition, identity, rest, and creating sustainable success. Bernadette understands what it means to work in a demanding environment, carry significant responsibilities, and be the person others depend on. She also understands how easily high-achieving women can become identified by their job titles, accomplishments, productivity, and ability to take care of everyone around them. But who are you when you are not working? Jasmin and Bernadette explore why women in leadership often struggle to switch off, why slowing down can feel uncomfortable, and how constant productivity can gradually disconnect us from who we are outside of our responsibilities. You’ll learn: • Why burnout does not always look the way we expect• How work can begin to consume your identity• Why high-achieving women often struggle to power down• How to practise self-care without feeling guilty• Why you should not have to earn the right to rest• How burnout affects creativity, leadership, and visibility• Why sustainable success must leave room for your life• How intentional community can support your well-being• Why protecting your energy does not require abandoning your goals• How to reconnect with who you are beyond your title This conversation is for the woman who is always producing, supporting, organizing, leading, and handling what needs to be handled—but may have forgotten how to create room for herself. Your ambition is not the problem. You do not have to disappear from your business to rest. You do not need to finish everything before taking care of yourself, because everything will never be completely finished. Your work may be an important part of your life, but it is not the whole of who you are. What is one small way you can make room for yourself this week? EP 3 - Build Confidence by Showing Up Before You’re Ready | with Tahira Bell

Are you waiting to feel confident before you show up, speak up, create content, or take the next step in your business? Here is the truth: confidence usually comes after you take action—not before. In this episode of The Fear No Video Show, Jasmin Bryant sits down with educator, coach, speaker, and Teen Girl Impact founder Tahira Bell for an honest conversation about confidence, self-doubt, visibility, personal growth, and learning to show up before you feel completely ready. Tahira has spent years helping teen girls and young women develop confidence, self-awareness, and the courage to make empowered decisions. But the lessons she shares are not only relevant to teenagers. The fears and insecurities many of us experience when we are younger—people-pleasing, comparison, overthinking, fear of judgment, and questioning whether we are good enough—do not automatically disappear when we become adults. They can follow us into our businesses, our leadership, our content, and the moments when we are being called to become more visible. Jasmin and Tahira explore why confidence is built through practice, how taking action develops self-trust, and why focusing on the people you are there to help can get you out of your own head. You’ll learn: • Why confidence comes from doing the work • How to take action before you feel 100% ready • Why old confidence struggles may still be affecting your business • How focusing on service can reduce self-consciousness • Why curiosity is more productive than self-judgment • How accountability helps you follow through • The difference between coaching and simply giving advice • How to step out of overthinking and into leadership • Why it may be time to stop apologizing for who you are Whether you are preparing to show up on video, share your story, create content, launch something new, or take a bold step in your business, this episode is a reminder that you do not have to wait until the fear disappears. You are allowed to learn while doing the work. You are allowed to grow while people are watching. And you are allowed to take your next step before you know exactly where it will lead. EP 1 - Fear is Temporary, Regret is Forever

Have you ever looked back on an opportunity and wondered, "What if I had just gone for it?" In this powerful first episode of The Fear No Video Show, Jasmin shares two of the biggest regrets of her career and the lessons they taught her about fear, visibility, and the opportunities we lose when we let self-doubt make our decisions. If you've been avoiding video, hiding behind perfectionism, or waiting until you feel "ready" to put yourself out there, this episode is your wake-up call. WHAT YOU’LL LEARN: Why fear often disguises itself as perfectionism, procrastination, and overthinking How self-doubt can quietly sabotage life-changing opportunities The real cost of staying invisible in your business Why "readiness" is often just another excuse to delay action How to build confidence through action instead of waiting for confidence to appear Practical ways to stop overthinking and start showing up consistently Why visibility is one of the most important growth strategies for women entrepreneurs Fear will always give you reasons to wait. It will tell you you're not ready, not qualified, not experienced enough, or not prepared enough. But every time you choose action over fear, you create new opportunities for yourself and your business. The question isn't whether fear will show up. The question is whether you'll let it make the decision for you. KEY TAKEAWAYS + QUOTES: "Fear will cost you way more than visibility ever will." One of the biggest risks in business isn't putting yourself out there. It's staying hidden long enough that nobody knows you exist. "Fear will decide your future if you hand it the microphone." Every time fear makes the decision, opportunities disappear before they ever have a chance to become reality. "Momentum dies in your drafts folder." Ideas, content, offers, and opportunities don't create results when they stay unfinished. "Readiness is a scam." Most people never feel fully ready. Action creates clarity, confidence, and momentum.
