    Own it!

Send us Fan Mail What if one of the most powerful things you could do as a parent of an autistic child was simply to own it? Own the difficult days. Own the beautiful moments. Own the uncertainty, the learning, the mistakes, the growth, and the fact that your family may look very different from everyone else’s. In this episode of Living Inspired with Autism, I’m talking about what happens when we stop fighting our reality and start taking ownership of the life we are living. We explore the difference between acceptance and giving up, why responsibility is so different from blame, and why you are becoming an authority on your own child through years of observing, learning, adapting and advocating. And importantly, we talk about your life beyond parenting. Because autism may be part of your family’s story, but you are still a whole person with relationships, interests, ambitions and dreams of your own. You do not need to have everything figured out. You can start exactly where you are. Own being different. Own the difficult. Own the beautiful. Own your learning. Own your life. If you’re ready to explore what you want your life to look like, I also invite you to book a connection call with me. Let’s look at where you are now and start creating a life that works for you and your family. The power of slowing down

Send us Fan Mail What if one of the most powerful things you could do today was simply... breathe? As parents of autistic children, we can become incredibly good at rushing. Rushing to appointments. Rushing through school mornings. Rushing to find answers. Rushing towards the next milestone. And even when our bodies stop, our minds can still be racing ahead. In this episode of Living Inspired with Autism, Antoinette explores the power of slowing down and what it really means to practise patience, not only with your child, but with yourself, your relationships, your goals and the life you are creating. She shares personal experiences with her son Max and looks at why progress does not always happen according to the timeline we expect. Sometimes growth happens in tiny increments. Sometimes our children need more time to communicate. And sometimes we need to create enough space to notice what is happening before automatically reacting. This episode explores: Why autism parenting can leave us constantly rushingThe difference between patience and passivityGiving your child time to communicate and develop in their own wayUsing your breath to create space before reactingPatience within marriage, parenting and relationshipsLearning to trust yourself when everyone seems to have an opinionPursuing your goals without constantly pressuring yourself for resultsRecognising the small, beautiful moments happening right nowYou can be ambitious and patient. You can want more for your life while appreciating where you are today. And you do not need to have everything figured out right now. If you are feeling overwhelmed, constantly anxious, or as though you are running from one responsibility to the next, Antoinette also shares how her coaching helps parents develop greater emotional awareness, self-trust and clarity. You can find the details to book a connection call with Antoinette in the show notes. Because autism is part of your life. It is not your entire life. So breathe. If I had 10 more minutes with you

Send us Fan Mail What do you do when your autistic child is getting older, the emotions are getting bigger, the behaviours are becoming harder to understand, and the parenting strategies that used to work suddenly don’t? This episode was inspired by conversations I had with parents at the Autism Strong event in Charlotte. So many parents stopped to share what they were struggling with, and I kept thinking, “I wish we had another ten minutes.” So this episode is those extra ten minutes. We’re talking about the realities of raising autistic preteens and teenagers, including changing emotions, hormones, resistance, meltdowns and the fear that can creep in when we start worrying about what the future might look like. We also talk about relationships between parents. What happens when you and your partner see things differently? When one person feels they are carrying the emotional load, while the other feels they can never get it right? And then there’s behaviour. Screaming. Hitting. Breaking things. Eloping. Constant movement. The moments that leave you thinking, “This has to stop.” But what changes when, instead of immediately trying to control what is happening, you become curious about it? Acceptance doesn’t mean approval. Curiosity doesn’t mean you are giving in. And different doesn’t automatically mean wrong. In this episode, I’ll help you shift from “Why is this happening to me?” or “They shouldn’t be doing this” towards a much more useful question: What now? Because you may not be able to remove every meltdown, prevent every disagreement or bypass puberty, but you can become far more skilled at navigating the life you are actually living. And somewhere in all of this is you. Your emotional capacity matters. Your relationships matter. Your dreams matter. Your ability to enjoy your life matters too. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck or simply know that something needs to change, you’ll find details in the show notes to book a connection call with me. When your body says stop

Send us Fan Mail Listening to Your Body: Rest Without Guilt as an Autism Parent When everyone needs you, listening to your own body can slip to the bottom of the list. But you are part of the family equation too. In this episode of Living Inspired with Autism, I share what happened when illness interrupted a busy Monday and I chose to rest instead of pushing through. What surprised me most wasn’t stopping. It was being able to stop without feeling guilty. As parents raising autistic children, we can become incredibly good at carrying on through exhaustion, worry and demanding days. Sometimes, that strength makes it harder to recognize when we need support ourselves. We explore: Why resting can feel uncomfortable when you’re used to handling everything. The difference between lying down and mentally working through your to-do list. How to question what genuinely needs to happen today.Finding room to scale back, postpone something or ask for help. Why caring for yourself is part of self-leadership.This isn’t about removing every responsibility. It’s about recognizing where you can ease the pressure and give yourself permission to respond to what you need. What is your body asking you for right now? If you’re feeling exhausted, overwhelmed or as though there’s nothing left for yourself, I invite you to book a consultation with me. We can explore what’s draining your capacity and how coaching could support you. Marriage, autism & getting it wrong together

Send us Fan Mail Marriage, autism & getting it wrong together  Marriage can be complicated. Add autism parenting, appointments, routines, emotional regulation, paperwork, sleepless nights and the constant mental load, and even the strongest relationship can start to feel stretched. In this episode of Living Inspired with Autism, Antoinette gets real about marriage, autism and what partnership actually looks like when life doesn’t fit the picture you expected. She explores the pressure that comes when one partner feels like they’re carrying more, why contribution doesn’t always look 50/50, and how resentment can grow when we start measuring our partner against the way we think things should be done. Antoinette also talks openly about disagreements around parenting, going to bed angry, giving each other space, repairing after conflict and recognising that personal growth doesn’t mean your partner has to grow in exactly the same way or at exactly the same pace. And when the bigger questions surface, like feeling disconnected, lonely in your marriage or wondering whether you should stay or leave, she offers a grounded reminder: you don’t have to make life-changing decisions from a place of exhaustion, resentment or desperation. This episode isn’t about creating the perfect marriage. It’s about honesty. Communication. Recognising what each person carries. Allowing two imperfect humans to love each other, get it wrong, repair, reconnect and keep trying. Because you don’t need a perfect marriage to create a meaningful life. If this episode feels familiar and you’re struggling with what you’re carrying inside your relationship, book a consult with Antoinette. Together, you can explore what’s happening, what you need, what you can control and what you may finally be ready to put down. The ripple effect of the Autism Parent Blueprint

Send us Fan Mail What if changing one thing in the way you parent, think and respond could begin changing everything else? In this episode of Living Inspired with Autism, I’m talking about the ripple effect of the Autism Parent Blueprint and why this work goes far beyond simply learning how to handle difficult days. The Blueprint is built around three key pillars: Inner Stability Learning how to regulate your own emotional world, increase your capacity for difficult moments and respond from a more grounded place rather than being pulled into panic, guilt, frustration or overwhelm. The Connection Code Understanding what may be happening underneath your child’s behaviour, moving away from constant correction and power struggles, and creating a relationship built on greater trust, curiosity and connection. Life Design Bringing you back into your own life. Your goals. Your identity. Your relationships. Your health. Your ambitions. Your dreams. The parts of you that can slowly disappear when so much of life becomes centred around what your child needs. Because autism can be part of your family’s story without becoming the whole story. One new skill can change one moment. Enough changed moments begin changing your days. Changed days begin changing relationships. And over time, those ripples can begin changing the way you experience your entire life. If you’ve been listening to the podcast and thinking, “Something needs to change,” I’d love to invite you to join me inside the Autism Parent Blueprint. It’s my 12-week coaching programme for parents of autistic children who are ready to move beyond simply getting through the day and begin creating a life that feels more grounded, connected and expansive. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin. Sometimes the biggest change starts with one decision. One pebble in the water. Life 2.0 - The parent you want to become

Send us Fan Mail   What if the biggest change in your family doesn’t begin with changing your child? What if it begins with the parent you are becoming? When you’re raising an autistic child, life can become very focused on the problem directly in front of you. The meltdown. The school meeting. The sleepless night. The difficult trip to the supermarket. The next appointment. The next decision. And when you’re living in that space, it can be difficult to imagine anything beyond simply getting through the day. In this episode of Living Inspired with Autism, I want to invite you to zoom out and start imagining something bigger. I call it Life 2.0. A life where you trust yourself more. Where you don’t question every parenting decision you make. Where you can advocate confidently for your child without waiting for someone else to tell you what to do. Where connection becomes more important than control. And where autism is an important part of your family’s life, without becoming the entire definition of your life. Because as you become more grounded and learn how to work with your thoughts, emotions and decisions, something else begins to happen. You start coming back into the picture. Your relationships. Your health. Your career. Your business. Your finances. Your friendships. Your dreams. Your fun. The parts of you that may have slowly been pushed aside because everything else felt more urgent. Supporting your autistic child and wanting more for your own life are not opposites. You can advocate fiercely for your child and have dreams. You can experience difficult days and build an extraordinary life. You can be an autism parent and still be you. That is Life 2.0. And it starts with becoming the parent who trusts themselves enough to decide what happens next. I’ll also be exploring this work inside my FREE live masterclass, From Chaos to Choice, happening Monday, 14 September at 1:00 PM Eastern. I’ll be teaching you a practical tool you can begin using immediately to recognise when reaction mode is taking over, create space before you respond, and begin leading yourself differently through the moments that feel hardest. But this is about more than simply creating calmer days. It is about beginning to see what else might be possible for you and your family. The registration link for From Chaos to Choice is HERE Your Life 2.0 does not need to be perfectly mapped out yet. You simply need to be willing to start imagining it.  Connection Call - Click HERE One-on-One Coaching - Click HERE Waitlist for The Blueprint - Click HERE Explore a variety of tailored resources for parents of autistic children on my website: www.lliautism.net Follow me on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube @livelifeinspiredautism for more insights and support. Trying to become a better parent while rejecting the one you are now

Send us Fan Mail What if trying so hard to become a better parent is actually making parenting feel even harder? As autism parents, we can carry an exhausting list of expectations. I should be calmer. I should have more patience. I should know what to do by now. I should be handling this better. And underneath all of those thoughts can sit one painful belief: I’m not doing this well enough. In this episode of Living Inspired with Autism, I’m talking about the difference between wanting to grow and trying to escape the person you are right now. We explore why self-acceptance does not mean giving up, lowering your standards or allowing yourself to behave however you want. It means learning to meet yourself honestly, without turning every difficult emotion, reaction or hard day into evidence that you are failing. Because you cannot shame yourself into becoming calmer. You cannot criticise yourself into greater emotional capacity. Real self-leadership begins when you can say: I understand why I feel this way. I can accept where I am. And I can still choose where I go from here. We also look at how your relationship with yourself affects your relationship with your autistic child, your ability to stay connected during dysregulation, and ultimately how much of your own life you still allow yourself to create. Your child gets to be part of your life. And so do you.
