Confronting the uncomfortable: Life in a third world country with God

Warm welcome back to another episode! This week its a personal one. I felt led by God to share a bit about life in Myanmar, including challenges and lessons learned. Humility, gratitude and courage, including confronting the uncomfortable are all part of the process of uprooting and moving far away from home. However, through it all God has been with me, in the same way He is with you through drastic change and the unknowns in life. ‘By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise.’ - Hebrews 11:8 With Love & Prayers Georgie x Get full access to A Bruised Reed at georgiejames.substack.com/subscribe

I want to surrender fully but its hard...

Warm welcome back to another episode! after some time away with God, I am back. This week’s episode is all about the difficulty of surrendering and being honest with God about it. We can often reason with God on what we think is best, yet we discredit the fact that He has already written a story for you and I, one that is not contingent on our ability, but a simple willingness to submit to Him. ‘I know you can do anything and no plan of yours can be thwarted. You asked, ‘who is this who conceals my counsel with ignorance?’ surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wondrous for me to know.’ (Job 42:2-3) With Love & Prayers Georgie Get full access to A Bruised Reed at georgiejames.substack.com/subscribe

Ep.8 From Survival to Surrender: How to let go and trust God

Today’s Episode Outline Today’s episode is all on the subject of surrender, which is an art that we’re not naturally inclined to do. How the pandemic shifted people’s focus, slowing them down from survival, to seeing the importance of stilling and mindfulness practices. I will be sharing how God often uses moments of stillness to encourage surrender. Jesus himself was led into spaces of stillness, to commune with his Father without the distractions and there is so much we can learn from this simple act of surrendering to the stillness. I will be giving you simple ways of how you can surrender to God in the everyday, even with the smallest things. Also, just a funny blooper for you all, I realized post-editing that I mention Jesus spent 10 days and 10 nights in the desert, when in fact it was 40 days and 40 nights lol. Ep.7 Anchored in Peace: Trusting God in an Ever-Changing World

Today’s Episode Outline This episode is on the topic of change, particularly when changes come with immense challenges and navigating the unknown. There is no doubting that change is scary as we go through seasons of life, but it can also shape and enrich our lives in the most unexpected ways, if we allow God in. I will be sharing how we can approach change, without trying to avoid or reject it, but rather seeing it through God’s eyes and surrendering to His timing. When your circumstances change, you can continue to hold onto the promise that God never does, He is with you through it all. God is in no hurry and He is never late to bring about breakthroughs and blessings in your life. Ep.6 Your Dreams Matter to God

Today’s Episode Outline In this episode we talk about the importance of dreams and allowing God to grant those deep longings and desires in our hearts. Dreams are not necessarily these big transcendental and ground-breaking desires, they can simply be these soft whisperings of something more. In today’s world of realism and often pessimistic perspectives on what is deemed possible, we can approach God boldly with our dreams and He will reveal the path for us. This is for anyone who feels doubtful or discouraged about God’s provision and ability to do exceedingly more, this is for you. If you’re also a bookworm and love a cosy read on the subject of dreams, I have linked below the book I mention, The Dallergut Dream Department Store by Lee Miye. Ep.5 God Calls the Unqualified to Greatness

Today’s Episode Outline In this episode we explore how God uses the seemingly unqualified to do profound work. There is so much emphasis on personal and professional achievement nowadays, we find ourselves feeling like we don’t match up or are simply disillusioned by it all. We all know how to it feels to be a fraud, a failure, an imposter but God never sees us that way. If you’re lost and not sure how God could use you, this is for you. I will be showing you exactly how God sees you and what He says about you in scripture. Dearly loved, chosen, enough, without needing to earn it. There is immense power in giving Him permission to reveal His purpose for your life. Ep.4 Granting the Gift of Grace Between Us

Today’s Episode Outline We live in a lonelier world than ever before, so it’s natural to seek nourishment in other people. We inadvertently find ourselves searching for glimmers of God and find ourselves falling down, because in a fallen world people hurt people. In this episode we chat about learning to be mindful and vigilant in terms of who we trust. Understanding that discernment is key, as well as staying close to God, the true source that fills that void. We have all been hurt by someone in the past, it’s part of being human but we do not have to let bitterness fester. I will be sharing some tips that can help you with how to grant the gift of grace towards yourself and others. It is not easy, but it is more than worth it. I will also be sharing how you can keep yourself safe. Ep.2 Are you a Perfectionist? Unpacking Perfectionism

Welcome back to another podcast episode! if you’re new, its great to have you here. This is a faith based podcast, (no worries if you feel it’s not for you). I’m aiming to share stories, insight and musings on the role of faith in everyday life. No frills faith kind of thing, where I talk about finding clarity and greater purpose in the chaos. Finding rest and renewal in the toughest seasons. Today’s Episode Outline If you’re a fellow perfectionist on the path of proving yourself, I see you. It is incredibly tough to come to terms with the idea that we are precious in our perfectly imperfect state, particularly in a world that will try and lay guilt on us at every turn. In this episode we unpack our perfectionist tendencies, particularly in the context of faith, what they truly boil down to and what we do to compensate for this ‘not good enough’ mentality. I will be showing you what letting go really means and how truly cherished you are in God’s eyes, without feeling the need to earn his favour, no matter who you are. How the role of nature can inspire us to see ourselves differently. How we can walk in courage and strength, adopting grace for ourselves in an unrelenting world. Included below is the link to the book I talk about: ‘Peace over Perfection’ by Faith Chang You can listen over on Apple and Spotify linked below: Listen on Spotify Here Listen on Apple Podcasts Let me know your thoughts in the comments and if there are any topics you would like to see.
