    Seneca…a moment to reflect.

    This weekend as we took a Spring stroll through Central Park (formerly Seneca Village), we were reminded of the history of this beautiful place and the extraordinary feats of our ancestors. Seneca Village, was once a place of where African Americans dared to live the American dream during the height of slavery. Despite the very real dangers and societal challenges of the time, when given the opportunity to be FREE, they THRIVED and EXCELLED and found JOY! They built and owned homes, schools, businesses, churches and would be well on their way to immense wealth…until the government used imminent domain to take the land…to build modern day Central Park. We couldn’t help but to be reminded that, whenever, given the freedom and space, despite obstacles, our ancestors THRIVED! They never rested in the comfortability of blaming others, they could not afford to. Life was hard for them back then so that we could be greater now. We, who own properties, businesses, take international trips regularly, masters of our respective crafts are living the life they could only whisper about. We are their wildest dreams. It’s wired in our DNA to be Elite AF, no matter the field or industry, we RISE and EXCEL because of those before us.
