    MLS World Cup Marketing Push, Vancouver Stadium Update + More

    It’s Wednesday, Major League Soccer returns on Thursday. The World Cup is almost over.The winds of change are upon us here at Morning Kickaround. On Monday, we asked what MLS could do to better capitalize on American World Cup Fever. They have since answered that question with what they are calling “the largest coordinated  marketing campaign in league history.” What does that mean and will it have the intended effects?     It’s a Friday on Morning Kickaround and there’s a lot to discuss. We open with high ratings for the U.S. Men’s National Team loss to Belgium. Was this a missed opportunity for our national team to further grow the game in this country? Was that stinker of a performance a missed opportunity for soccer in this country? We then tackle an age-old question in American soccer: How do we fix that pay-to-play problem that American soccer seems to have.
