    The Path

By Annie Hebrews 12:1 TPTA As for us, we have all of these great witnesses who encircle us like clouds. So we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life's marathon race with passion and determination, for the path has already been marked out before us.  Today's devotional asks: Who do you think of as having left a testimony of faith for you to follow? One of the most influential people who stands out is Alice. She was one of the teens from Carson High School who came to our junior high school one afternoon and introduced me to Jesus. I am so grateful for her and her obedience to God to share the Gospel that afternoon with us. I gave my life to Jesus a few weeks after that encounter. Alice has been through a lot. Twice divorced, I believe, and now living life for Jesus. Similar to my story, too. The other was my friend Terri. She was our "manager" who drove us all around in her tiny orange Fiat. She loved the Lord and really took a liking to us youngins' (our group called "The Lord's Kids"). We sang at Bible studies and parties all around town. I have completely lost touch with her, except for a handful of years recently, when we touched base. She lives in Arizona with her husband and her twins.  The other is my friend Ralph. He suffered from AIDS (from a blood transfusion) and went to be with Jesus. He had a zest and zeal for Jesus. Even when he knew he was dying, he still praised God. He still sang unto the Lord and was excited to be with Jesus. He was one of the members in our small singing group, "The Lord's Kids," and he was one of the ones who introduced me to worship music.  All of this to say, Alice, Terri, and Ralph had a great impact on me growing up. I can only hope to be as impactful to someone now. I hope my life is a testimony of God's grace (as Haz says, the "epitome" of resilience). I have been through a lot, and only a handful of people know my story (namely the Apprentice Program folks). I pray that I have or will have planted a seed that can produce good fruit one day.  ~~~~God is ON AIR and so are we!#walkandtalkfaith #walkandtalkfaithpodcast #wtfpodcast #GodIsOnTheAir~~~~For business purposes, please email us at walkandtalkfaith@gmail.com~~~~ Music CreditSong: SeasonsArtist: TelecastedYouTube Audio Library

    Power Source

By Annie EXALTATION - Psalm 46:10 ESV Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Today's devotional discusses God as our power source. The other day, I sat down early in the morning as per usual and read this verse. I had every intention of praying, meditating, reflecting, and journaling. I didn't get to do any of this at all.
I got distracted. All of a sudden, I found myself thinking, 'Remind me to bring my Canon M50 to work to take photos of that night’s event.' Then, one thing led to another, and I completely skipped my devotional and journaling, proceeding to search for my battery charger. I looked high and low in places I thought made sense where this battery charger would be, only to fail in locating it. I was perplexed that I could not find it. Then I tried using a cable I thought would fit to charge it, but that did not work, either.

This had me thinking: A device without a power source is DEAD.

Much like this verse points to God as our power source in life, without Him, we cannot fight the spiritual battle we face. He is our strength, our power, our strong tower. The enemy constantly throws obstacles in our path to keep us from our source. I know this all too well. I have many distractions, and when I am flustered, my focus is away from God.
Sometimes, battery-powered devices don't always work as well as being connected to an electrical outlet. I feel when my energy begins to drain, I get easily frustrated, even condescending, and maybe even mean or sarcastic. These are not fruits of the Holy Spirit. Every day and always, we should not grieve the Holy Spirit, and instead, we are to always show kindness and grace to one another. You see, this illustration taught me that when we are drained spiritually, it becomes very difficult to keep up our energy. So long as we can keep ourselves "plugged into" our power source, our Heavenly Father, we can rely on God's energy to sustain us. Amen

    Look Up

By Annie Hebrews 12:1 NLT Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Today's devotional talks about a runner's race and how one should fix their gaze straight ahead and not downward. In my prime years, I ran three miles a day. I loved it. It was invigorating, challenging, and satisfying. There were days I could run a mile, walk half a mile, and then run the rest. Or there were days I simply could only run 1, 1.5, or 2 miles and not go the full distance of 3 miles. I lost 55 pounds, which was amazing to me, given I had gained so much weight after the twins were born. I was determined to get back to health.

The tricks to running were several factors:
  1) Dress lightly
- running shorts always worked best for me
2) Wear running shoes
3) Pace myself
4) Eat healthy (lifestyle change)
5) Fix my gaze ahead. Fixing your gaze ahead seemed trivial, but it honestly worked. When I ran and looked down at my feet, it became very mundane. I found this to be true, more so on a treadmill, too. It was depressing only because you could not see your progress. When you fixed your gaze ahead, it lifted your head so your breathing was naturally better and not constricted. Also, it gave you a focal point - something in the distance to strive for. Meaning, the finish line was ahead. I love how today's devotional parallels running a race. When God calls you to action in a ministry, He will equip you with what you need. When God calls you to pray for people, He will equip you with the gift to intercede. When God calls you to help the less fortunate, God gifts you with a kind and giving heart.

Sometimes, it's just the act of obedience. Do you hear God's call on your life? Whatever the calling, God will equip you with the strength, the endurance, and the heart to complete it. Don't be fixated with how you'll get there; that's God's job. Just take the leap of faith and step out one foot at a time. God will lead you. God will equip you. He will run the race with you. He's gone before you, and He's waiting for you to cross the finish line.
Don't look back at where you've been; that will only slow you down and may even cause you to detour. Keep your eye on the prize -- the finish line. God is waiting for you there. ~~~~Music CreditSong: SeasonsArtist: TelecastedYouTube Audio Library
