56 The Bibles Got Buts — And There's One With Your Name On It

When life hands you a diagnosis, a betrayal, or a season that feels like it's swallowing you whole — the Bible has a word for that moment. Two letters. One powerful pivot. But God. Watch the full video version here: https://youtu.be/mO5w210_toI This episode unpacks how scripture uses the word "but" to interrupt pain, redeem broken stories, and breathe resurrection power into the hardest chapters of our lives. We dig into some of the most powerful "but God" moments across scripture — from Joseph declaring "you intended to harm me, but God intended it for good" (Genesis 50:20), to Paul's reminder in Ephesians 2:4-5 that God, rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ. We also walk through Psalm 73:26, where the psalmist openly admits his heart may fail — and then anchors everything in who God is instead. And of course, we land on the greatest "but" in all of history: the resurrection in Matthew 28, when what looked like an ending became the most glorious beginning. Here's what we explore together in this episode: - Why the "but" in scripture changes everything — and what it meant differently in the Old vs. New Testament - How Joseph's story teaches us not to stop reading our sentence too soon - What Lot's wife shows us about the danger of looking back and staying stuck - Why the comma matters — because a pause is where God has room to show up - How to practically apply a "but God" mindset through the holy exchange - The resurrection as the ultimate model of what God does after the darkest moments If you're in a "but" moment right now — in the middle of the pain, the waiting, the uncertainty — this episode is for you. Your chapter isn't over. The comma is coming. This week's challenge: identify the sentence you're currently living in. Maybe it sounds like "I feel forgotten" or "I don't see a way forward." Now add the comma. But God. Not as wishful thinking — as a declaration of who God has always been. Because faith doesn't ignore the facts. Faith remembers that God is bigger than the facts. What "but God" are you holding onto right now? Share it in the comments — we'd love to pray with you and stand in agreement with you. If this episode spoke to your heart, share it with someone who needs a reminder that their story is not over yet. And if you haven't already, subscribe so you never miss a conversation designed to equip, encourage, and strengthen your faith. Keep leaning into his love, walking in his truth, and remembering that God always has the final word. 55² When the Corners Don't Fit — Are Your Friends Blocking Your Breakthrough? | Overflow Episode

Christian encouragement for women navigating friendship transitions — when God shifts your people, it can feel disorienting. But what if that shift is actually His gift? Watch full video version here: https://youtu.be/TsDxc5AGeFI In this overflow conversation, we're unpacking what it looks like when God begins to transition the people in our lives — and why choosing to align with that movement is one of the most powerful acts of faith we can take. We talk about what it means to truly repent for the hidden things: the fear, the bitterness, the co-dependency that keeps us clinging to relationships that no longer carry us forward. Because freedom doesn't come from perfect behavior — it comes from the secret place. We also revisit a question we love asking: is there room at the table for you and Jesus? If the person you're holding onto won't make room for what God is speaking over your life, that answer tells you everything. Key takeaways from this episode:— God has your people already lined up. The question is whether we're willing to let go of the safe four corners that are blocking them.— The number one relationship in our life must be with God. When that corner is solid, we begin to recognize the healthy people He's sending us.— Repentance isn't about outward behavior. It's about uprooting what's deep inside — the jealousy, the fear, the need for approval — so there's room for His goodness.— We are built for community. But if we choose comfort over alignment, we miss the beautiful gift of the people God has waiting. We believe in walking through transitions with faith, not fear. If this spoke to your heart, share it with a sister who needs to hear it today. 55 When the Corners Don't Fit — Are Your Friends Blocking Your Breakthrough?

Is your inner circle pulling you toward healing — or quietly holding you back? If you've felt that check in your spirit about who's carrying your mat, this episode is for you. Watch full video version here: https://youtu.be/CUoFP79JO2Y In Part 2 of our "Mat People" mini series, we're having the harder conversation. Inspired by Mark 2 and the story of the paralyzed man lowered through the roof, we dig into what happens when the people holding the corners of your mat aren't actually carrying you toward Jesus. We're talking about the courage it takes to reevaluate your circle, recognize seasonal friendships, release guilt and false obligation, and trust God to shift who surrounds you — even when it's painful. Because here's the truth: you cannot get to the roof if your mat people are afraid to climb. In this episode, we walk through the signs that corners are fraying — when conversations slow down, encouragement disappears, and you find yourself clinging to history instead of the present reality. We talk about the difference between peacemaking and peacekeeping, why unhealthy dependency blocks God's voice, and what a "holy exchange" really looks like. We also get honest about the guilt that keeps us stuck, the 99% truth the enemy twists against us, and why releasing someone well — without gossip or murmuring — matters just as much as the release itself. If you've been exhausted from trying to keep everyone happy, waking up anxious about a friendship, or feeling like the smaller version of yourself around certain people — this is your permission to pause, pray, and let the Father define what healthy looks like in this season. And if you're wondering how to find your four after the shift? It might start with just one person, one conversation, one moment of Holy Spirit-filled eye contact at church. Healing doesn't have to be a full overhaul. He is gentle. He is ready to show up. Grab your coffee and lean in, sisters. It's time. --Have you ever had to release a friendship that was no longer healthy? We'd love to hear your story in the comments. Your testimony might be exactly what someone else needs today. --- More episodes to listen to that were mentioned in this episode: - Ep. 54 — Mat People: The Friends Who Carry You to Jesus (Part 1) https://youtu.be/tkWP4hEw98I - Ep. 27 — The Holy Exchangehttps://youtu.be/c8kHM9gjS4w - EP 17 - Guilt vs Shamehttps://youtu.be/WaOSXaJ0_rY--- About Equipped Fellowship: We are two Jesus-loving friends on a mission to share personal stories, real talk, and Holy Spirit-led tools to help you strengthen your faith, transform your mindset, and walk boldly in God's promises. 54² Who Are Your Mat People? Finding the Friends Who Carry You to Jesus | Overflow Episode

What does a real mat person moment actually look like? Sometimes you don't even recognize it until years later — and sometimes God uses the most unexpected person to carry you back to Him. Watch full video version here: https://youtu.be/Ka0tf3egvVk Right after our full episode on mat people, we sat down to share something more personal: a real story of a mat person moment that changed everything. Before faith, before community, before going all in for Jesus — one unlikely conversation planted a seed that grew into a complete transformation. This overflow conversation gets honest about what it looks like when God uses someone outside of your usual circle to speak truth into your life. Not a pastor. Not a close friend. Someone whose words landed differently precisely because they came from an unexpected place. And that's the thing about mat people — God doesn't always send who we expect. He sends who we need, exactly when we need it. We also unpack a powerful reframe: sometimes we hold on too tightly to the mat person instead of allowing them to carry us to Jesus, which is where the healing actually happens. When we become attached to the person rather than the destination, we miss the miracle. The mat person's job is to point us to the Father — and then trust Him with the rest. This moment is a living example of what we talked about in the full episode: it's not a matter of who, but when. God will use anyone — a reason, a season, or a lifetime — and all of it is intentional. Whether you're waiting for your mat people to show up or wondering if you've already had a mat person moment you haven't fully recognized yet, this conversation is for you. Drop a comment below: Has God ever used an unlikely person to carry you toward Him? We would love to hear your story. If this encouraged you, share it with someone who needs it today. 54 Who Are Your Mat People? Finding the Friends Who Carry You to Jesus

Who are the people in your life who would carry you to Jesus — no matter the obstacles? If you've ever felt alone in your struggle, this episode on Christian friendship and community is for you. Watch full video version here: https://youtu.be/tkWP4hEw98I We're exploring one of the most powerful stories in the Bible — the paralyzed man whose friends tore open a roof just to get him to the feet of Jesus (Mark 2:1-12, Luke 5:17-26, Matthew 9:1-8). From that story, we're unpacking a concept that will change how you see your relationships: mat people. In this episode we define what a mat person is, why every woman needs them, how to find them, and how to become one. A mat person is not passive — they show up when it's inconvenient, they speak truth in love, they notice when your smile is forced, they carry you when you cannot carry yourself. They don't fix, judge, or control. They carry, support, and guide. And they are running you to the feet of Jesus as fast as they can. We also get honest about the hardest part: allowing yourself to be carried. Whether you're someone who tends to isolate, struggle to ask for help, or carry everyone else without letting anyone carry you — this conversation is going to meet you right where you are. We walk through the qualities to look for in a mat person, how to ask God to reveal who those people are in your season, and the simple but powerful ways to be a mat person for someone else. From iron sharpening iron (Proverbs 27:17) to love covering a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8, Proverbs 10:12), scripture anchors every piece of this conversation. If this episode spoke to you, share it with one of your mat people. And if someone came to mind while you were listening — don't ignore it. Reach out today. 53² 7 Moments That Changed Us | Overflow Episode

Trauma healing for Christian women is hard, slow, and absolutely worth it. If you've been trusting God for physical or emotional healing and wondering why it's taking so long, this overflow conversation is for you. Watch full video version here: https://youtu.be/hve4AMPFTIc  In this bonus overflow from Episode 53, we get real about something that came up during our reflection on the seven most impactful moments from our first year of podcasting. As we revisited the topic of restoring radiance in your spirit and body, something powerful surfaced that we couldn't leave unsaid. We talk openly about what happens in your body when you finally start digging out deep-rooted trauma with God's help. The healing process isn't a quick fix, and it's not always pretty. It's layer by layer, 1% at a time. The physical symptoms that show up on the outside as your body detoxes from years of held-in pain, grief, and dysfunction? That's actually evidence that something real is happening on the inside. We also explore a shift in perspective on miracles. What if Jesus showing us instantaneous healing was never meant to be the standard we measure our own journey against? What if the point was simply that healing is possible, and God's pace in our specific story is building something in us that a sudden miracle never could? And we get honest about how deeply our identities can get wrapped up in our wounds, even when we think we're doing well. When the Holy Spirit reveals that even our "good" motives can be rooted in something broken, that's some of the most uncomfortable, most transformative work we'll ever do with the Father. If you're in the middle of a hard healing season, feeling like it's taking too long, or tempted to go back to the quick fix, we see you. Keep going. It's worth it. We'd love to hear from you: Where are you in your healing journey right now? 53 7 Moments that Changed Us

Watch full video version here: https://youtu.be/wSbOXzfbIoI Faith breakthroughs for women — from breaking shame's grip to the holy exchange to the 1% shift. These 7 moments didn't just shape our podcast, they changed us. If you're ready to move from striving to surrender, this is your foundation. After a full year of Equipped Fellowship, we're looking back at the seven most powerful Holy Spirit-led tools and teachings that reshaped how we see God, ourselves, and the freedom we've already been given through Christ. Whether you've been with us from episode one or you're just finding your way into this community, this episode is the heart of everything we do here. Together, we walk through each breakthrough moment and why it still matters today: The Cassette Tape of the Past (Ep. 9) (https://youtu.be/6ld37d20mcA) — The enemy loves to replay what God has already freed you from. We talk about the pause-and-process practice that finally lets you rip that tape out entirely. Guilt vs. Shame (Ep. 17) (https://youtu.be/WaOSXaJ0_rY) — Guilt says "I did something wrong." Shame says "I am something wrong." Understanding this difference is the key to stepping out of hiding and back into God's love and correction. The Holy Exchange (Ep. 27) (https://youtu.be/c8kHM9gjS4w) — What does it actually look like to bring your pain, your heaviness, and your brokenness to God and let him replace it with grace, mercy, and his presence? This is where it starts. Self-Help vs. God's Help (Ep. 30) (https://youtu.be/caQBcgZovcw) — We were both great students of every system and formula out there — and none of it worked. Because God never asked us to be the heroes of our own stories. He asked us to abide. Matthew 11:30 hits differently when you finally let him carry it. Peacekeeping vs. Peacemaking (Ep. 36) (https://youtu.be/sqWBCA7x35I) — If you're a people pleaser, this one will stop you in your tracks. There's a real difference between keeping the peace at the cost of your own soul and making peace rooted in the love of God. Perfect love casts out fear, and fear of man is at the root of so much. Restoring the Radiance of the Mind (Ep. 42) (https://youtu.be/aztjTvwVqGQ) — We want overnight transformation. God invites us into 1% shifts. Slow growth builds dependency — the daily surrender, the daily holy exchange, the daily renewal that builds history with God and real, lasting faith. Top-Down Restoration (Eps. 41-43) (https://youtu.be/uPchP2vPheI) — We are spirit beings first. When we start with our identity in Christ and let truth work its way down through our minds and emotions, our whole lives begin to shift — and even our physical bodies respond. The common thread through all of it? Moving from striving to surrender. From shame to redemption. From self-help to God's help. From carrying it alone to the holy exchange. From perfection to 1% better every day. 52² You Asked, We Answered: Listener Questions with Equipped Fellowship | Overflow Episode

God shows up in the small things — and this overflow clip from our one-year anniversary episode is proof. If you've ever wondered whether God cares about the everyday details of your life, this conversation is for you. Watch full video version here: https://youtu.be/oHj_sNd8dJ0 We're celebrating 52 episodes of this podcast, and we could not let this bonus moment go unshared. In this overflow clip, we answer a question that caught our attention: "What is a recent moment where you clearly saw God's kindness in a small detail?" The answers? A random Instagram recipe account that brought joy back to cooking. A birthday that unfolded one intentional coffee date at a time — without a single word of planning. Gifts that felt like God whispering, "I see you." These are the moments we might be tempted to call coincidence. We're choosing not to. There's something so beautiful about pausing to notice how God works behind the scenes — not just in the big, dramatic moments, but in the quiet, personal ones that only you and He know about. The ones that feel like a wink from Heaven. That's what this episode is about. We also talk about what it looks like to stay flexible and let the Holy Spirit lead — in a podcast, in a birthday, in a week when you just don't have the capacity you thought you would. He fills in the gaps. He always does. If this resonated with you, we'd love to hear your story at the link below. Share a recent moment where you saw God show up in a small, unexpected detail. We read every single one and your story might be exactly what someone else needs to hear today. And if you're new here, welcome to our little community of women who are learning to notice God in the everyday, lean into faith when life gets heavy, and encourage one another along the way. We would love for you to subscribe and journey with us. We are one year in and we are just getting started. 📝 Share your prayer request: https://www.equip39.com/podcast Follow on Social Media:✨ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@equippedfellowship✨ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/equippedfellowship   Thank you for being apart of our fellowship ❤️ With Love, Hope and Nikki
