    S2 EP4: Hillshaker

Hillshaker rumbles through the Art Revolution Podcast for a special episode where they share stories of their individual journeys which led them to the Mendocino County line. Clay Hawkins and Andy Robertson met 15 years ago and formed a kinship revolving around their love of music and performing live. ”Blending rapid-fire slide guitar, grooving upright bass, warm harmonies and heartfelt songwriting, Hillshaker create their own unique brand of Americana music. Featuring Clay Hawkins on guitar and Andrew Robertson on the upright bass, the duo's fast, upbeat style swings from psychedelic roots/country to heavy old-time blues.”      Clay shares about his online artist and venue space that he created called OME (Open-Music-Exchange) This online, social network for artists, promoters and venues is accessible for all to create their own websites, virtual event calendars, online marketplaces and promote their upcoming shows. Andy is a multi-instrumentalist and talented singer/songwriter originally from Fairfield, Ca. Before moving to Mendocino County, he played drums and toured with a Bay Area punk band called The Dairy Queens, polishing his skills as a musician and performer. Both these talented musicians have logged their 10,000 hours and then some. They perform a live set at the end of the episode which gives the listener a little taste of what is to come this Friday June 5th at the Lot on Main for this month’s 1st Friday Art Walk in Ukiah (5-8pm). There’s no need to run for cover, but you will find yourself running to the dance floor when their soulful harmonies and driving rhythms resonate throughout your body. Without further ado, enjoy Hillshaker. Link to OME: https://ome.audio/

    Episode 20: Tommy G

Producer, musician and local business owner Tommy G joins Art Revolution for an in depth conversation about cultivating local arts and culture in Mendocino County. Originally hailing from Chicago, Illinois, Tom ventured out west to find the counter-culture movement that had planted its roots in Mendocino County and he ended up on a farm up on Spy Rock road outside of Laytonville. He immediately knew he wasn’t in Kansas anymore or in this case Chicago.  Mendo wrapped its open arms around him and he never left, eventually buying a piece of property outside of Willits where he started a homestead and purchased Burrito Exquisito in the 90’s. He became a mainstay house musician at Shanachie Pub in downtown Willits also playing with his band This Cult of Ours.  From there, he has launched Tommy G Presents which organized Willits Fest in the summer of 2025.  It was well received and attended with maximum support from the community featuring local musicians, artists and vendors.  His latest event is Day of the Divine on November 8th (12-6pm) at the The Willits Art Center featuring The Real Sarahs, Senefoli w/ Gigi Cano, Alyra Rose, Summer Rose, Luna Zaka, Joey Vayda/bellydance and crystal bowl sound healing w/ Erin Corley.  Tommy G discusses music, community and cultivating and nurturing the “Mendo Sound” here in Mendocino County to showcase our local muscians and talent.  He shares his wisdom and experience with the guys, inspiring them both to continue helping to push the underground live music and art scene forward for the next generation of emerging, creative, local innovators. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid0vjCSBPWkiukBboKS4VuRrZ8iHPFP6eC7x9EEFLA6Cos7p2SPvPwrzu2axSkpJZnLl&id=100083843964357&mibextid=wwXIfr
