Sober Readings

Scott Hayes

Sober Readings shares a powerful message of recovery - one word, one day, and one episode at a time. This podcast is your daily source of inspiration from recovery literature, offering strength, reflection, and hope to support your journey - just for today. Each weekday, we read from Daily Reflections, Twenty-Four Hours a Day, and a passage from As Bill Sees It, creating space to pause, reflect, and connect with the principles that keep us grounded. Every Sunday, we explore a chapter from Came to Believe, sharing the spiritual adventures of AA members to inspire hope and deepen your own spiritual path. Once a month, we read and reflect on a Step from Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, aligning each Step with the month we’re in - bringing fresh perspective to the foundation of recovery. Take a deep breath. Center yourself. Take what you need and leave the rest. And remember - just for today: don’t drink, go to a meeting, and keep coming back.

Came To Believe - Chapter 5 stories

In today’s episode of Sober Readings, I finish Chapter 5 by reading the remaining stories and reflections. Each one offers a different perspective, but they all point back to something important in recovery: we don’t have to do this alone, and there is always something we can learn from the experience of another person. Sometimes a story connects with us immediately. Other times, a single sentence is all we need to hear. That’s one of the reasons I keep coming back to recovery literature—it reminds me where I’ve been, helps me stay grounded in where I am today, and shows me that many of the struggles I think are uniquely mine have been experienced by countless others before me. 🌐 Visit Sober Readings: https://www.soberreadings.com 📧 Get in touch: soberreadingswithscott@gmail.com 🎙️ Want to be a guest, leave a comment or share a thought?
