Why Is It So Hard to Make Female Friends as an Adult?

Why is it so hard to find genuine female friendships as an adult? Why do some friendships turn into silent competition? And is it normal to be a woman in your twenties or thirties without a close female friend? In this episode of The Aston Vibez Pod with Glory Aston, we’re having an honest conversation about female friendships, loneliness, jealousy, comparison, insecurity, friendship breakups, and the reality of making friends as an adult. Glory opens up about something many women experience but rarely discuss: not having a close female friend to call every day, make spontaneous plans with, go out for coffee with, or simply share everyday life with. Sometimes, your closest female friend is your own mother. And while there’s something beautiful about that relationship, it can also make you wonder why building genuine friendships outside your family feels so difficult. But is the problem really female friendships, or is it the expectations, insecurities, and pressures we bring into them? From comparing careers, salaries, relationships, beauty, body types, and lifestyles to watching friends get engaged, promoted, married, or financially successful, comparison can quietly affect even the closest friendships. And let’s be real: you can genuinely love your friend and still feel behind when you see her succeeding. Does that make you jealous? A bad friend? Or simply human? In this episode, we explore: Female friendships in adulthood: Why making and maintaining close friendships becomes harder as we grow older.Jealousy and silent competition: When celebrating a friend’s success becomes complicated by personal insecurity.Beauty and body comparison: Why women sometimes compare their appearance, relationships, and lifestyles with those of their friends.Toxic friendships and red flags: Recognizing the difference between genuine concern, constructive criticism, and someone who consistently undermines your happiness.Having no close female friends: The loneliness, independence, and social pressure that can come with not having a best friend or friendship group.Outgrowing friendships: Why some friendships naturally change or end without either person being the villain.Building genuine connections: How to create healthier, more supportive female friendships without forcing relationships or settling for unhealthy dynamics.Because having twenty friends doesn’t necessarily mean you have twenty genuine connections. And being surrounded by people doesn’t always mean you feel understood. Female friendship shouldn’t feel like a competition. Another woman’s beauty, relationship, career, or success doesn’t take anything away from yours. But building meaningful friendships also requires effort, vulnerability, communication, and a willingness to show up for others. So let’s have an honest conversation. Do you have a close female friend? Have you ever experienced jealousy, comparison, or competition in a friendship? And if you don’t have a best friend, are you genuinely happy that way, or do you sometimes wish you had someone to share life with? Whether you’re navigating friendship breakups, struggling to make friends in your twenties, feeling lonely despite being independent, or simply wondering where genuine female friendships have gone, this conversation is for you. 🎙️ The Aston Vibez Pod with Glory Aston 💌 Let’s continue the conversation! Can Love Survive a Financial Gap? | Money, Ambition & Relationships

Can you genuinely love someone and still realize that you’re financially incompatible? What happens when one person is extremely ambitious while the other is comfortable where they are? What if your partner earns significantly more—or less—than you? Should couples split everything 50/50? When should you talk about salaries, savings, debt, spending habits, financial goals, and the lifestyle you actually want? In this episode of The Aston Vibez Pod with Glory Aston, we’re having the money conversation that couples often avoid. And financial compatibility isn’t simply about finding someone who earns the same amount as you. You can earn less and be disciplined, ambitious, financially responsible, and actively building your future. You can also earn significantly more and still have unhealthy spending habits, debt, no savings, and no financial plan. So maybe the bigger question isn’t just: “How much do you make?” Maybe it’s: “How do you think about money—and where are you going?” We talk about income gaps, dating someone for their “potential,” ambition versus contentment, 50/50 relationships, women earning more than their partners, financial independence, lifestyle expectations, spending versus saving, debt, financial transparency, and why couples need to discuss money before making serious commitments. Because two people can deeply love each other and still want completely different lives. One person may want investments, property, career progression, travel, and aggressive financial growth. The other may genuinely prefer a simple, stable life with less pressure. Neither person necessarily has to be wrong. But are they compatible? Research has long found that financial concerns can be a significant source of conflict for couples, and disagreements about money can be particularly difficult to resolve.   So in this episode, we’re asking the uncomfortable questions: Would you date someone who earns significantly less than you? Would lack of financial ambition be a dealbreaker? Does 50/50 still make sense when there’s a huge income gap? How early should couples discuss money? And could you stay with someone you deeply love if their financial goals were completely different from yours? Because love matters—but if you’re planning a future together, eventually you have to talk about the life you’re actually trying to build. You Were Happy Until You Saw Someone With Better | Comparison, Greed & Social Media

Have you ever loved your car, your phone, your body, your job, or even your relationship… until you saw someone with something “better”? Suddenly, what you were perfectly happy with doesn’t feel like enough. In this episode of The Aston Vibez Pod with Glory Aston, we’re talking about greed, comparison, envy, competition, social media, materialism, relationships, money, lifestyle pressure, and our constant desire for more. Why do we sometimes want things simply because someone else has them? Why can a friend’s new car, promotion, relationship, body, apartment, designer purchase, or lifestyle suddenly make us question our own? And when does healthy ambition turn into never being satisfied? Glory also gets real about experiencing comparison herself and the importance of asking one simple question: “Did I actually want this before I saw someone else have it?” Because wanting more from life isn’t automatically a bad thing. You can want more money, a better career, a beautiful home, a healthy relationship, nice things, travel, success, and personal growth while still appreciating what you already have. The problem begins when nothing is ever enough. This episode explores how social media can fuel comparison, how competition can quietly enter friendships, why comparing your partner to people online can damage a good relationship, and how gratitude and ambition can exist at the same time. Sometimes your life didn’t get worse. You just saw somebody else’s highlight reel. So ask yourself: What were you completely happy with until you saw somebody else had something “better”? And did you genuinely want more or did comparison convince you that what you already had wasn’t enough? Stop Saying “That’s Just Who I Am” | Self-Awareness, Accountability & Personal Growth

How often do we excuse our behaviour by saying, “That’s just who I am”? “I’m brutally honest.”“I’m a bad texter.”“I’m always late.”“I have a temper.”“I’m naturally jealous.”“I’m just stubborn.” But when does accepting yourself become an excuse to avoid changing? In this episode of The Aston Vibez Pod with Glory Aston, we’re having an honest conversation about self-awareness, accountability, emotional maturity, relationships, communication, workplace behaviour, anger, jealousy, bad habits, and personal growth. Sometimes our personality explains why we behave a certain way — but that doesn’t mean every behaviour should be excused. Being direct doesn’t mean being disrespectful. Having a temper doesn’t excuse hurting people. Being jealous doesn’t justify controlling a partner. And saying “I’m just bad at communication” doesn’t mean you can never learn to communicate better. This episode isn’t about becoming perfect or changing everything about yourself. It’s about being honest enough to recognize when a habit, reaction, or behaviour is hurting your relationships, friendships, career — or even yourself. There’s a big difference between: “This is who I am. Deal with it.” and “This is something I struggle with, and I’m working on it.” You can accept yourself and still grow. You can love yourself and still hold yourself accountable. And you can admit that something needs to change without believing there’s something wrong with who you are. So here’s the question for this episode: What is one thing you’ve been calling “just who I am” that you know you could actually work on? Share your answer in the comments or find Glory on Instagram at @astonvibez and send a message. 🎙️ The Aston Vibez Pod with Glory Aston Topics: self-awareness, accountability, personal growth, emotional maturity, healthy relationships, communication, anger management, jealousy, workplace behaviour, self-improvement, toxic habits, boundaries, relationships and personal development.
