The Full Circle: Linking Songs with Musicians & Friends

The Full Circle is a music themed podcast with each song having a link to the previous song, and the last song linking back to the first song, hence completing The Full Circle. Links can be factual, personal and can also have one common theme, (nearly) anything goes! The show is hosted by DC, who is a massive music fan, with a huge interest in live music, festivals & discovering new artists, and also an NHS working doctor, specialising in Psychiatry. Episodes feature musicians, mates and my partner Abi linking songs together, with the occasional solo episode. As The Full Circle begins its second season, roughly every other week, DC will review some of his favourite albums over the years, and possibly some future releases too! The Full Circle will be DC's five favourite songs from that album. Unfortunately, copyright rules stop me from playing the songs on the show, but playlist of the songs are available on each episode description.     Dr Matthew Cox aka DJ Coxy is the very special guest on The Full Circle! We went to medical school together, and having both qualified in 2016, this is legitimately the first time since that we have spoken to each other, almost a decade later. On the show, Matt talks about fatherhood, and juggling this with work, and how it compares. He also shares his excitement about starting as a consultant in acute medicine and what the job entails.  He also answers some tough Would You Rather questions takes part in a Buzzfeed quiz where his 2000s Music Opinions apparently reveal what his best personality trait is... did Buzzfeed get it spot on or were they completely off?     When Red Hot Chili Peppers album By The Way came out in 2002, it was absolutely adored in the UK! It was their first album (not counting Greatest Hits) of theirs I heard and will always have a special place in my heart for that reason. I reveal which song is, in my humble opinion, their best of all time (and how did it not make their Greatest Hits album which was released a year later?!), and how it ranks compared to their other albums.     Toy Parlour are absolutely smashing it right now and have a big future ahead of them! Fresh from touring with Don Broco, to performing at The Great Escape in Brighton, showcasing the most incredible up and coming bands, to recently releasing their new incredible single Love Me, vocalist Ren, guitarist Ben and one of their bassists (yes they have two bassists!!) Travis, are the very special guests on The Full Circle this week! We talk about how the band met and juggling with two bassists, which works incredibly well live and in the studio! They also share some great fun facts about themselves, answer some tough Would You Rather questions, reveal how they got to support Don Broco and plays a lyrics quiz called "Toy Parlour or Toys Out The Pram" (naming quizzes are not my strong point), where they have to guess if the lyrics are their own or another band or song has the word toy in it. This is an album that I grew up listening to, and is a timeless classic.     Captain Davidoff Is The Very Special Guest On The Full Circle! Bird's-Eye Chilli Challenge AGAIN?!

    Captain Davidoff AKA David Desai is the very special guest on The Full Circle, making his podcast debut on the show! He is a top guy and it's probably one of the funniest episodes since the show has returned as a podcast, very similar to the radio show days! Captain's cat's cameo was a big highlight, but without doubt, the biggest highlight is our stupidity to do the bird's-eye chili challenge again! We were dumb and young in our early 20s when we did this in 2015, but now we're just dumb doing it again, with the risk of getting a hole in our stomach far greater. Whilst it is a great listen (well terrible for David and I in all honesty), keep an eye out for the video version which might be even better. We spoke just before the band started their US tour with August Burns Red and he speaks about his excitement returning back to America! He also opens about his mental health and what is helping him more these days, the difficulties with social media, and also being misquoted about why he did not like working in a studio before... it's not the reason you think! Joel also plays a lyrics quiz where he had to work out if the lyrics were Amity Affliction or not; you may notice an album was missed out and Joel was in agreement to leave it out and explains why! We also talk about their upcoming album House of Cards, due to be released on 24th April 2026, and how the songs came about for this album.
