Apparently, We're Adults

Angela Hare

We grew up thinking that by this age, we'd have everything figured out. Our marriages. Our careers. Our bodies. Our friendships. Motherhood. Money. Confidence. Who we are. And then… we got here and it turns out, nobody actually knows what the hell is going on. Apparently, we're adults. This is a podcast for women navigating the messy, funny, complicated, beautiful middle of life. The season where we're raising kids while rediscovering ourselves, watching our bodies change, questioning things we thought we'd already figured out, navigating marriage and friendships, caring for aging parents, building careers, setting boundaries, losing people, and occasionally wondering when exactly we're supposed to start feeling like the grown-ups in the room. Each episode, we're talking about the things women are actually experiencing but don't always say out loud. Some conversations will make you think. Some will make you laugh. Some might make you feel a little less alone. And hopefully, all of them will remind you that we're all just making this up as we go. There are no perfect women here. No pretending we've cracked the code on adulthood. Just honest conversations, a little humor, a lot of heart, and women figuring it out right alongside each other. Because apparently, we're adults. So let's talk about what nobody warned us about.

Ep 60: Apparently, Adulthood is being scared and doing it anyway

“Maybe adulthood was never about finally having everything figured out. Maybe it’s about learning to trust ourselves enough to figure it out as we go.” --Angela In This Episode, We Talk About: Why Mama, Let’s Talk is becoming Apparently, We’re Adults and why I’m ready to expand the conversation from motherhood to womanhood. The strange realization that becoming an adult doesn’t magically mean you know what the hell you’re doing. How fear and imposter syndrome kept me from learning new skills in my career and the moment I realized avoiding discomfort was costing me more than facing it.Why saying “I don’t know,” “I need help,” and “teach me” might actually be some of the strongest, most grown-up things we can say. Welcome to Apparently, We’re Adults, the same honest conversations you loved from Mama, Let’s Talk, just with a little more room at the table. In this first episode of the new chapter, I’m talking about why I stepped away, why I almost didn’t come back, and why I realized I wasn’t done talking, I was just ready to talk about more. Motherhood will always be part of the conversation, but so will all the other things nobody exactly prepared us for. I’m also sharing one of the biggest lessons I’ve been learning lately: growth requires being willing to look like a beginner. I’m opening up about fear and imposter syndrome in my career, avoiding the things I didn’t know how to do, and finally deciding that being uncomfortable was better than staying stuck. Because maybe growing up isn’t about reaching some magical point where we finally know everything. Maybe it’s getting comfortable saying, “I don’t know yet, but I’m willing to learn.” And apparently, that might be what being an adult looks like after all. Ep 59: You're Not Overreacting, You're Overloaded

"The moment didn't create the reaction. The moment revealed how full your bucket already was." --Angela In this episode, listeners will learn: What decision fatigue actually is and why moms are especially vulnerable to itWhy small frustrations can trigger big reactions when your mental and emotional bandwidth has been drained throughout the day.How the invisible mental load impacts your patience, energy, and emotional regulation, even when it looks like you're "doing fine" on the outside.A simple mindset shift and practical tool to help you respond with more self-compassion and less guilt when you feel yourself reaching your limit. In this episode, I'm talking about something almost every mom experiences but few of us recognize while it's happening: decision fatigue. If you've ever found yourself snapping over missing shoes, the dinner question, or hearing "Mom" one too many times, this conversation is for you. I'm sharing a real-life story from my own parenting journey and unpacking why those seemingly small moments can trigger such big reactions. Together, we'll explore the invisible mental load so many mothers carry every day, the hidden cost of being the family problem-solver, and why exhaustion often disguises itself as irritation. Most importantly, I'll share a simple reframe that has helped me move from self-criticism to self-compassion. Because chances are, you're not failing, you've just been carrying more than your mind and body were ever meant to hold alone. Ep 58: The Quiet Funk Nobody Talks About

"Sometimes the bravest thing we can do is stop treating ourselves like a project that needs fixing and start treating ourselves like a person who needs care." --Angela In this episode, listeners will learn: Why feeling stuck, unmotivated, disconnected, or "off" doesn't mean something is wrong with you.The hidden habits that keep us trapped in a funk longer than necessary.Simple, practical ways to start creating momentum again without overhauling your entire life. How to reconnect with yourself and rediscover who you're becoming in this season of motherhood. Have you ever looked around at your life and thought, "Why don't I feel like myself anymore?" In this episode, I'm opening up about a season I've recently walked through myself, a season where I felt disconnected, exhausted, and stuck despite doing all the things I was supposed to be doing. From the outside everything looked fine, but internally I knew something felt off. If you've been wondering why you're struggling to find motivation, joy, or energy lately, this conversation is for you. Together, we'll talk about why so many women find themselves in a funk, what keeps us stuck there, and the small shifts that can help us move forward. I'll share personal experiences, practical tools, and a reminder that you don't need to become a completely different person to feel better. Sometimes the journey isn't about getting back to who you used to be... it's about reconnecting with who you're becoming. Ep 55: One Year of Mama Wisdom

"You do not have to do motherhood perfectly to do it beautifully" --Angela In this episode, listeners will learn: Why motherhood was never meant to be carried alone, and how leaning on other women can change everythingHow letting go of perfection can create safer, healthier relationships with our childrenThe importance of regulating ourselves emotionally before trying to regulate our kidsWhy so much of motherhood is learning to savor the season you’re in while also giving yourself grace through the hard parts Powerful Quote From the Episode“I think part of motherhood is constantly learning how to hold gratitude and exhaustion in the same hand.”—or— “You do not have to do motherhood perfectly to do it beautifully.”What Listeners Will LearnWhy motherhood was never meant to be carried alone — and how leaning on other women can change everythingHow letting go of perfection can create safer, healthier relationships with our childrenThe importance of regulating ourselves emotionally before trying to regulate our kidsWhy so much of motherhood is learning to savor the season you’re in while also giving yourself grace through the hard parts Episode OverviewIn this special Mother’s Day episode, and one-year anniversary celebration of Mama, Let’s Talk, I invited moms to share the best motherhood advice they’ve ever received, along with the things they wish someone would have told them sooner.
