The Art of the Possible: Escaping Vendor Lock-In with Open-Source AI and MCP

In this deep-dive edition of The Future is Open, host Cameron Seader addresses why enterprise infrastructure is losing control and why organizations must shift toward becoming self-sovereign. While major public cloud vendors often market sovereignty merely as a hosting location, true sovereignty is a deliberate architectural choice built on complete ownership and vendor independence. Tune in as Cameron unpacks six critical realities enterprise architecture teams face today: predictable token unit economics, mitigating contractual lock-in, leveraging near-frontier open weights, protecting internal IP and RAG pipelines, complying with regulations like the EU AI Act, and retaining complete workload portability across NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel silicon.
